The WXR2100 weather radar system is composed by the RDR-2000 transmitter and receiver antenna, and the IN-182A display system. The IN-182A system can be found in the right radio stack on the main Cheyenne instrument panel. It also communicates with the Trimble 2000 GPS.

In order to activate the IN-182 display system, the main avionics switch has to be turned on.

The WXR2100 in LOG mode. There is currently no flightplan loaded into the Trimble 2000 GPS.

1: Brightness selector Adjusts the display brightness

2: Wx/WxA Selector button Switches between normal and turbulence display

3: Vertical Profile selector button This button has no function in this simulation4: Map Mode selector button

Activates the terrain radar. The display will show re-flections from massive structures.

5: NAV Mode selector button Shows the path of the flightplan loaded into the Trim-ble 2000 GPS, while the Wx radar mode is visible in the background.

6: GAIN selector This selector has no function in this simulation

7: Mode selector Activates the different operation modes: OFF = Radar off SBY = Radar deactivated TST = Shows a colored test screen ON = Radar in normal operation mode LOG = Displays the waypoint list of the active flight-plan in the Trimble 2000 GPS

8: Range selector buttons Selects the display range from 10nm up to 1600nm

9: Track selector buttons These buttons are inoperative in this simulation

10: TILT selector This selector adjusts the tilt angle of the radar antenna

11: Avionics main switch Turns the aircraft avionics ON or OFF

The WRX2100 System in LOG mode (mode selector (7) is set to LOG). The currently active flightplan in the Trimble 2000 GPS is displayed in waypoint list mode. Next active waypoint is colored in magenta. The course is displayed as “desired track” (magnetic).

The WXR2100 in Wx or WxA mode (mode selector (7) set to ON, Wx/WxA selector button (2) in Wx mode). The radar display shows reflections from humid bodies. The humidity is displayed in shades from green via yellow, red and ma-genta. On the right side the range scale is shown. In WxA mode, the humidity display scales from green to red, while magenta indicates areas with turbulences.

This picture shows the display in NAV mode (mode selec-tor (7) set to ON, Wx/WxA selector button (2) in mode Wx or WxA, NAV selector (5) activated). While the background displays the regular Wx or WxA mode (see above), the cur-rently active flightplan path is also drawn on the display. The next waypoint is colored magenta.

The WXR2100 system in MAP mode (mode selector (7) set to ON, Wx/WxA selector button (2) in mode Wx, MAP selector button (4) activataed. The radar display shows reflections from solid structures (terrain). Altitudes are shaded from black via green, yellow, red and magenta.
