Founded in 1961 in Olympia, Greece, following the original idea of Pierre de Coubertin

IOA Mission: To function as an International Academic Centre for Olympic Studies, Education and Research

1985/86/87: Idea during IOA Young Participants Sessions

1989: IOAPA foundation. First Session held at the IOA

Difficult first years but now an active network worldwide: 800 members from more than 100 countries
