Company History:Houston Medical was founded in 1989 to develop and distribute computerized client and server-based medical systems in New Zealand... Our first client is still with us today – although their systems have seen numerous upgrades of course.

Since our launch, we’ve learned from our customers requirements and continued to hone our software to meet changing needs and industry updates. This has led to our having multi-million dollar sales annually, and more than 1000 installations in NZ, AUS, UK, Asia.

ACC & Private Claiming and Management

Entering claims is simple and straightforward. The program will alert the user if any mandatory entries have been missed, or is the claim number is not of the correct format. Full READ diagnosis and printing of claims is easy.

ACC Claim 32

Financial Management

VIP is fully GST compliant and able to provide financial information based on revenue – be it from patient, ACC, insurance companies, or employers. GST for revenue, or sales, is calculated via a wide variety of financial reports. Houston VIP manages stock and inventory, which is GST compliant. Suppliers and incoming goods/invoices can be set to include or exclude GST as they are entered, and full reporting including stocktaking is included. VIP manages all the cash and cheque banking, direct-credits, eftpos, or credit-card payments, and give details on a daily basis of cash-flow and banking history. This can be reconciled against bank statements. VIP is supports multiple bank-accounts, for multiple Providers’ and/or multiple businesses within the same database.

VIP offers complete management of all debtors, including aged-debtors reports, sending of patient/third-party/acc monthly statements. Letters can be generated via reports for overdue payments. VIP financial reports can generate information for individual physiotherapists on contract-based payments, or payment-per-treatment arrangements. Time based calculations can also be done. Payroll for admin staff etc, is not part of the VIP program, and apart from managing Suppliers and Stock, does not have a creditor’s ledger

Clinical Management Clinical management in VIP Allied for Physiotherapists is powerful and functional. Drag and drop, clinical reporting, notes and coding is all part of the VIP Allied clinical management. Link notes directly to letters to referring providers or patients.Digital Imaging

Digital Imaging Our imaging system lets you import images from any Twain32 complaint hardware (eg Scanners, Digital Cameras) etc. Greyscale, Zoom, and Negative functions are included The imaging module integrates directly with the Medical desktop, with a “filmstrip” along one side showing the doctor a selection of images. Reporting:

The VIP report writer allows you to create customised

reports to suit your requirement. You can choose from

any entity in the system, and set almost any

combination of selection criteria. Once the report has

been defined, you can adjust column widths as desired,

and preview before printing. Some of the more

advanced features include sorting, grouping, sub-

totalling and cross-tabulation

Word Processing & Letter Writing:

The Houston Letter writer is a very powerful word processor. With

full support for imaging, tables, spellcheck and a complete

WYSIWYG (What you see on the screen is what you get on the

printout) system. Add your own medical dictionaries to the

spellcheck, create templates which will pick up information directly

from the program, such as patient’s name and address, medical

information, financial or more. Any letters created in the Houston

Word processor are automatically saved to the patient file for

retrieving, reviewing and reprinting at any time. The VIP letter writer

looks and feels similar to Word, except it is entirely contained within

the Houston Package.

VIP RSD (Referral, Status and Discharge) VIP, in conjunction with Healthlink and their secure electronic mail service, supports referral status and discharge (RSD) messaging. RSD can be implemented with a minimum of effort.

A hosted solution is where all the data and application are stored on a server in a secure environment. All IT-style tasks are performed by suitable technician who keep the system stable, secure and private. You can run your system from anywhere as long as you have access to the internet and a web-browser. Clients connect to their system through the internet, either via a web-browser or with a direct RDP or VPN solution. With this, clients only need a computer to be able to connect, but is can be any computer with any version of Windows, even a MAC or Linux. The FULL HOST solution offered by Houston Medical is much more than just VIP. We also include Microsoft Office, domain based email, a website, internet access, Healthlink and claiming, fully offsite backups, as well as full security and support. The EASY HOST solution offers only the VIP program in a hosted environment. VIP is installed, configured and set up to work within our server farm environment. Healthlink and ACC45 claiming is still part of this package. Hosted solutions are available commercially from specialised companies, and it is only recently that Houston Medical has decided to move into this market. We are offering a superb deal on a hosted solution including a lease-deal on the Houston VIP software, plus significantly better prices for the hosted solution, and are able to make a very competitive offer.
