Miscellaneous Tidbits Area Interaction

Course Content Assignments, Tests, Blogs, Journals, Wikis, and Discussion Board items that are set to be graded automatically generate a Column in the Grade Center.

Retention Center The Retention Center is a rule driven communication feature that can send email messages to students when criteria of the rule are met.

View Grades tool When you release grades to students for viewing, students can access the Grade Center using the View Grades tool from the Global Navigation Menu. A list of courses the students are enrolled in is shown. When students click the name of the course, they are taken to the course’s View Grades page of the Grade Center.

My Grades course tool When Instructors release grades to students for viewing, students can click the My Grades tool within their course to access the View Grades page of the Grade Center.

My Grades page The My Grades page shows the status of gradable items, such as tests, assignments, journal and blog entries, and discussion posts. The My Grades page may include item names, details, due dates, student and instructor dates of activity, posted grades, points possible, links to rubrics used for grading, and your instructor's comments about the items.

Report Card module The Report Card Module is displayed on the My WVU eCampus tab. A link will take students to the View Grades page of the Grade Center.

Performance Dashboard Instructors and Teacher’s Assistants can access the Grade Center through the Performance Dashboard, where grades are viewed and edited.

Email You can send email to selected students or all students directly from the Grade Center. The Email link goes to the Send Email page.

External data from other grading systems

You can export and import data to the Grade Center by uploading and downloading delimited files.

From Blackboard Learn Instructor Guide: “Columns that are available are displayed in the View Grades tool, the My Grades course tool, and can be displayed individually in the Report Card module. Columns that are not available will not display in any of these places.”

From http://oit2.utk.edu/helpdesk/kb/entry/924/ An External Grade is the grade a student would see in the Report Card Module. The Total column is the external grade by default, so if you have set another column as the external grade and changed your mind, you can simply reset the Total column as the external grade. Any column set as External Grade cannot be deleted. If you want to delete your Total column for any reason, you'll need to set another column as External Grade so the Total column can then be deleted.
