Continued from phase two the 8th Street Redevelopment seeks to integrated required program into the downtown fabric of Lawrence Kansas. The site, located between Massachusetts and Vermont Street along the new pedestrian zoned 8th Street, is in a high traffic area. The problem statement left open 3000 sqft to be assigned as seen fit. The 8th Street Redevelopment contains a ‘Maker’s Space’ as the open program. This program compliments the 9th Street Corridor Project currently under development and also supports the Warehouse Arts district of Lawrence. The main idea of the proposal is to incorporate passive and active ‘green’ strategies, provide a conditioned exterior space, and to create a dialogue between the adjacent buildings mainly the revamped Fire Station.

Phase II was completed by Allison Wilke and Max Wurster. The design was a combined effort of both parties. We divided the production on the final work such that Allison created the board layout and the content with help by Max. The model was generated, laser cut, and assembled by Max with help by Allison.LA
