A Year Later, A Look Back.Chaos struck on Nov. 17, 2013 as more than a dozen twisters descended from the sky. Whereas areas near Metamora, Roanoke, Benson and Long Point sustained damage, the greatest destruction was in Tazewell County where two tornadoes caused more carnage than imaginable. One funnel cloud tore through Pekin, but it was a second twister with winds at 190 miles per hour that began in East Peoria that caused the most harm. The half-mile wide vortex raced 46 miles in just 45 minutes leaving a huge scar through the city of Washington, where more than 1,000 homes or businesses were either destroyed or damaged. But amidst the horror and loss, hope grew as the Central Illinois community came together to rebuild. To celebrate the first year of recovery, WTVP premieres November 17th: Finding Strength After the Storm. This new special follows recovery efforts throughout the year, looks at the lessons learned in the aftermath of the storm, and reveals the struggles and triumphs of people trying to rebuild.

This WTVP original airs Monday, Nov. 17 at 9 p.m., the first anniversary of the storm. The program features interviews with residents of Tazewell County affected by the tor-nadoes, people involved in the clean-up and recovery process, and city officials including Washington Mayor Gary Manier, Pekin Mayor Laurie Barra, and East Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus (pictured right).The program also contains video and audio of the storm.

But if you wake to find that your dog has been doubled, or that your spouse has shrunk, or that you are somehow caught in a weird time loop—or that you are somehow caught in a weird time loop—that’s when you call odd Squad. It’s a high-tech agency run by kids equipped with the world’s most advanced and unpredictable gadgetry. Why kids and not adults you ask? We told you this squad was a little odd.

The live-action kids show follows two young government agents, Olive and Otto, who use math skills and collaboration to investi-gate weird and unusual phenom-ena. odd Squad will premiere wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 at 8 a.m.—and again at 2 p.m.—with a special one-hour broadcast of two back-to-back episodes, along with integrated digital and offline content. Admirals, master chiefs, clandestine operators, demolitioneers and snipers reveal how U.S. Navy SEALs morphed into the world’s most admired commandoes.

Featured craft artists include ceramic artists Ehren Tool, Judas Recendez and Peter Voulkos as well as paper artist Pam DeLuco and saddler Eugene Burks, Jr.

In an expanded, updated version, Ice warriors: uSA Sled hockey on monday, Nov. 10 at 9 p.m., follows the U.S. sled hockey team, on and off the ice, as they prepare for and participate in the Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia. The team includes four “wounded warriors,” injured veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and are proud to continue representing the U.S. in international sport.

It’s curtains for PoirotAll good things must come to an end.

Since its debut on television in 1989, Poirot, Agatha Christie’s famous Belgian detective, has put his bril-liant intellect and fastidious nature to the test as he solves the most mystifying crimes of the Art Deco era. But after 25 years, the stories have come to an end.

The final season of Poirot began ear-lier this summer with two episodes on masterpiece mystery!. Now WTVP brings you the final three stories in the series through a special program acquisition. Brimming with opulent 1930s period details and pitch-perfect performances, these final lavish adaptations feature guest stars Iain Glen ( Jack Taylor, Games of Thrones), Helen Baxendale (Friends), and Philip Glenister (Life on Mars), as well as fan favorite Hugh Fraser as Capt. Hastings in the series finale. The programs air Thursdays, Nov. 13-27 starting at 9 p.m.

David Suchet has been synonymous with the brilliant Belgian and recently received Royal Televi-sion Society’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his work as Poirot. With the completion of the final episode, “Curtain”, Suchet will have completed the unsurpassed feat of portraying Agatha Christie’s beloved detective Hercule Poirot in all 70 Poirot stories.

mannheim Steamroller christ-mas Live, airing Thanksgiving night, Thursday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m., will help you usher in the sounds of the season in a thrilling performance captured live at the historic Orpheum Theatre in Omaha, Nebraska—home of Mannheim Steamroller. The performance includes early fan favorites including “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “Pat A Pan,” “Joy to the World,” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

During the program, we’ll also let you know how you can get special WTVP-member tickets to see Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis 30th Anniversary Tour. This one-night-only live performance is coming Dec. 13th to Braden Auditorium in Normal, Illinois.

Illinois AdventureThe Adventure hops the border on 11/6 to visit Grant’s Farm in St. Louis. This piece of Missouri farmland was once plowed and planted by U.S. Grant and is now home to more than 1,000 animals from six continents. Back on native soil on 11/13, we venture to the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago to explore an impressive collection of artifacts from the ancient world. And then we travel back in time on 11/20 to look at the history of the rails at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, the largest railroad museum in the nation.
