Occupancy Sensors – Save Energy

Occupancy sensors provide setback savings for a room that is normally unoccupied. Occupancy sensors can be used to turn off lighting and HVAC equipment while guests are away.

How it works

• Door sensor determines when someone opens and closes the door.

• Occupancy sensor then determines whether the person has left the room or if they are occupying the room.

• If the PIR sensor sees motion it instantaneously turns the thermostat back to the occupied mode.

• If the PIR sensor does not sense motion it will put the thermostat into the “Economy Setback” or Unoccupied mode.

• The receiver has either a 15 second or 3 minute delay. The thermostat may have an additional delay.

• Once occupancy is determined, it will remain in the occupied mode until someone opens and closes the door and leaves the.

• Setback will not occur if the room is still occupied and the PIR stops sensing motion!

• Optional sliding door sensor (Zone 3) sets back thermostat when the sliding door is left open. As soon as the sliding door is closed the thermostat returns to normal operation.
