head coach mike bradburyLaShawna Thomas first team, Molly Fox second team and Shaunda Sandifer Newcomer Team.

Bradbury, who led Morehead State to a 50-44 record over three seasons, posted a 22-11 slate in 2009-10, including a bid to the post-season Women’s Basketball Invitational. He also spent time as an assistant coach at Xavier and Cincinnati.

Bradbury was an integral part in signing the nation’s top-ranked player at Xavier in 2006-07. While at UC, he helped sign three top 25 classes. In each of his last ten seasons as an assistant coach, his teams qualified for postseason play. In all, 12 of the 17 teams he has been involved with have made postseason appearances, and nearly every team has posted a .500 record or better.

Bradbury spent five seasons at Xavier, and all five resulted in postseason appearances, including two NCAA tournament berths. In his initial season at Xavier, in 2002-03, the Musketeers went 20-10 overall and advanced the NCAA Tournament first round after posting a 12-19 record the season before. In 2006-07, Bradbury helped lead XU to a 26-8 record and another NCAA Tournament berth. In between, his teams made three consecutive WNIT appearances, including a quarterfinal game in 2004-05. In his five seasons, Xavier was 106-50 (.679 winning percentage).

Prior to his time at Xavier, Bradbury was a top assistant coach and the primary recruiter for crosstown school Cincinnati for six years, where he helped the Bearcats to two NCAA Tournament

The squad also posted 21 wins, the most in Division I. Freshman Kim Demmings took the Horizon League by storm and was named first-team, Newcomer of the Year and a Freshman All American. Senior Molly Fox also collected hardware as she was named the League’s second team.

His first year at WSU was also a year of firsts for the women’s basketball program as it played in its first post-season tournament as a Division I school when it hosted two rounds of the Women’s Basketball Invitational. The team also recorded the most wins in Division I with a 20-13 record. Three Raiders received Horizon League honors--

his 1995 team took sixth place in the WNIT and compiled a 21-9 record. His coaching career began at Chattanooga, where he graduated in 1993 with a degree in recreation. He spent the 1991-92 and 1992-93 seasons as a student assistant coach before his first full-time assistant coaching assignment came in 1993-94. Assistant Coach Keith Freeman

Veteran women’s basketball coach Keith Freeman is in his first year on the Wright State staff as an assistant coach.

Freeman comes to WSU after spending 18 years as the head coach at Valparaiso from 1994-2012

and compiled a record of 286-247, including four 20-win seasons. In 2001-02, he led the Crusaders to a record of 26-7 and an appearance in their first-ever post-season tournament, defeating Michigan and Ball State in the Women’s NIT before falling to Houston.

Freeman was also a finalist for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year Award that season.

The following two seasons saw Valparaiso win its first Mid-Continent Conference (now Summit League) titles and advance to the NCAA Tournament each time, facing Purdue

in 2003 and Kansas State in 2004. As the Mid-Con’s all-time winningest coach, Freeman was named twice named the league’s Coach of the Year.

Before going to Valparaiso, Freeman also coached two years at his alma mater, Huntington, before serving four years as the head coach at Saint Joseph’s in Indiana. While at Saint Joseph’s, he compiled a stellar four-year record of 85-28. The Great Lakes Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 1991-92, Freeman led the Lady Pumas to the GLVC title and the Midwest Regional Championship that season, advancing to the Elite Eight

of the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

Along with his 24-year women’s basketball coaching career, where he posted a 415-294 record, Freeman also was the head men’s basketball coach at Huntington from 1985-89. He also was Athletics Director at Saint Joseph’s during the 1993-94 academic year after serving as Assistant Athletic Director from 1991-93.

Freeman graduated Cum Laude from Huntington in 1986 and received his Master’s of Business degree at Ball State the following year.

Assistant Coach valerie king

Valerie King, the career record holder for three-pointers in University of Cincinnati (UC) and Conference USA (C-USA) history, enters her third season as an assistant coach with the Wright State women’s basketball program. King comes to WSU after serving on head coach Mike Bradbury’s staff during his three-year tenure at Morehead State.

Teaming with Bradbury, the Raiders reached new heights in 2010-11 as WSU played in its first division I post-season tournament with two games in the Women’s Basketball Invitational and secured the program’s first 20-win in Division I.

Her expertise in outside shooting helped mold Morehead State into one of the nation’s top three-point shooting teams. In 2009-10, the Eagles were the NCAA Division I leader in three-pointers made at 10.3 per game and junior guard Chynna Bozeman was the individual national leader with 3.7 made per contest. During the 2008-09 campaign, MSU led all NCAA and NAIA teams in three-pointers attempted.

King was a four-year starter for the Bearcats from 2000-01 through 2003-04 and ended her career as the all-time leader with 338 three-pointers - which is also the C-USA record. King is also the all-time career leader in games played (126),

three-pointers attempted (847), three-point percentage (.399) and free throw percentage (.866).

King scored 2,156 career points to rank second all-time at Cincinnati and was just 201 points shy of the career record. She is just one of three Bearcats to score 2,000 or more points in a career (Oscar Robertson, Cheryl Cook). A Conference USA All-Decade selection, her point total ranks fourth among all C-USA players in league history.

King also holds the top three spots on UC’s season chart for three-pointers and has four of the top 10, including a season and C-USA best 101 treys in 2001-02. She also is listed three times each among Cincinnati’s season leaders in free throw percentage and three-point percentage and holds the school, conference and Fifth Third Arena record with 46 points in a game against Charleston Southern in 2003.

Among her many accolades,

King was named First-Team All-Conference in 2001-02 and 2002-03 and Second-Team All-Conference in 2003-04. She was also awarded the C-USA Tournament MVP in 2001, was a five-time Player of the Week honoree during her career and was named Honorable Mention All-America by Basketball Times in 2002. She was signed as a free agent by the Sacramento Monarchs of the WNBA after her collegiate career and spent a short time playing professionally.

The Bearcats appeared in the postseason in each of King’s four seasons, including NCAA tournaments appearances in 2002 and 2003. On October 27, 2010, King was inducted into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame.

A native of Washington Court House, Ohio, King graduated with a degree in communication from Cincinnati in 2004 and earned a master’s degree in sports administration from the University of Louisville.

Assistant Coach katrina merriweather

Katrina Merriweather, a former assistant at Purdue, UIC and Cincinnati, joined the Wright State women’s basketball coaching staff in September, 2010.

Teaming with head coach Mike Bradbury, the Raiders reached new heights in 2010-11 as WSU played in its first Division I post-season tournament with two games

in the Women’s Basketball Invitational and secured the program’s first 20-win in Division I.

An assistant with the Boilermakers from 2003-06, Merriweather served as the program’s recruiting coordinator and assisted with scouting along with coaching the guards.

In 2003-04, her first year at Purdue, Merriweather assisted the Boilermakers in a 29-4 campaign, a season that saw Purdue win the Big Ten Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. She also played a major role in recruiting a five-player class rated in many scouting services’ top 10.

Merriweather’s recruiting success carried over the following year, as she helped sign a class rated in the top 10 by Blue Star Basketball. While she was scouring gyms nationwide, Merriweather also filled her role in Mackey Arena, helping guide one of the youngest teams in Purdue history to a

17-win season and an NCAA Tournament berth.

During the 2005-06 season, Purdue finished 26-7 and again advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 before falling to top-ranked North Carolina. The Boilermakers were second in the Big Ten standings and were runner-up in the conference tournament. The recruiting class was ranked third nationally by Blue Star Basketball.

Before coming to Purdue, Merriweather served as an assistant coach for a year at UIC. Charged with performing duties such as travel, film exchange, scouting and recruiting correspondence, Merriweather was part of head coach Lisa Ryckbosch’s staff that guided the Flames to a 17-11 record in 2002-03.

Merriweather began her collegiate coaching career at Cincinnati, her alma mater. As a graduate assistant during the 2001-02 season, Merriweather handled scouting and film

duties. The Bearcats posted a 26-5 record that year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

A native of Indianapolis, Merriweather graduated from Cincinnati in 2001 with a degree in English literature and earned a second degree in secondary education in 2002. Under head coach Laurie Pirtle, the Bearcats advanced to postseason play all four years during Merriweather’s career, competing in the NCAA Tournament in 1999 and the WNIT in 1998, 2000 and 2001. During her career, Cincinnati posted an 83-41 record.

Along with her college coaching career, Merriweather has also coached AAU basketball for The Family, Inc., based in Indianapolis, and has served as a summer camp coach at several universities.

A 1997 graduate from Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Merriweather was a member of the 1997 Indiana All-Star Team.

Director of operations jenni dant

Jenni Dant, who served as the administrative assistant for the Wright State women’s basketball program during the 2011-12 season, is in her first year as the director of operations for the Raiders.

Before coming to WSU, Dant was an assistant coach

for two seasons at UIC. A 2005 DePaul graduate, Dant is currently seventh on the Blue Demons’ all-time scoring list with 1,633 points. She earned All-Conference USA accolades three times as well as C-USA All-Freshman Team honors as she averaged 13.4 points per game for her career. Dant was then drafted by the WNBA’s Houston Comets before embarking on a professional career in Europe.

A Chicago native, Dant was a Parade All-American and all-state selection at Stevenson High School.

Former Morehead State standout Courtney Lumpkin joins the staff this season as the administrative assistant.

A Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection in 2011-12, Lumpkin led the Eagles and was seventh in the conference with a 16.3 scoring average, including a 20.3 mark

in OVC games. She was 10th in the conference in field goal percentage at .328 and 11th in assists per game at 3.2. Lumpkin reached double figures in scoring 22 times as a senior, including a career-high 32 at SIU Edwardsville on February 6, 2012.

Lumpkin finished her career second on the all-time MSU assist list with 491 and became the first player in school history to lead the team in assists all four seasons. She ranks 10th in scoring with 1475 points and reached double figures in scoring 69 times. Lumpkin also appears in the Morehead State top 10 in games played, three-pointers made and free throws made.

A Cincinnati native, Lumpkin is a graduate of Winton Woods High School, where she was the 28th-ranked guard in the 2008 national class by Hoop Gurlz.
