Open thou mine eyes and I shall see; Incline my heart and I shall desire; Order my steps and I shall walkIn the ways of thy commandments.

O Lord God, be thou to me a God And beside thee let there be none else, No other, naught else with thee.

Vouchsafe to me to worship thee And serve thee according To thy commandmentsIn truth of spirit, in reverence of body,In blessings of lips, in private And in public.

(Lancelot Andrewes, 1555-1626)

† The Peace

The Call to Worship ...................................................................................... Psalm 95† Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord and shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before him with thanksgiving

And extol him with music and song.

For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;

For he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.

Let us worship God!

Gloria Patri (Sung by All) ........................................................................GreatorexGlory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen.

† The Confession of Faith ................................................................ Colossians 1:15-20Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

The Old Testament Lesson ..................................................................... Isaiah 11:1-9page 1124 in the pew Bible

The Response The grass withers and the flowers fall,But the Word of our God stands forever.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace (Sung by All) ............... It Is Well With My SoulThough Satan should buffet, though trials should come,Let this blest assurance control,That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

RefrainIt is well, with my soul,It is well, with my soul,It is well, it is well, with my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole,Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

The Personal Confession of Sin

The Confession of Sin (Please kneel if able to do so)Most merciful Father, we have sinned against you and are guilty before you. Forgive us the sins of our tongues -

For the deception and untruthfulness in our dealings with others; for the resentments, coldness, impatience and tempers out of control.

Forgive us the sins of our eyes -

For impurity in our glances and imaginations; for hungering after more beauty, comfort, status and wealth than you have given us. Forgive the sins of our hearts -

For hard-heartedness towards you and our neighbors; for pride, self-absorp-tion and self- pity; and above all, for rebelling against your Lordship and doubting your love.

Forgive us we pray, most merciful Father, and free us from our sin.

7

The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come.Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread,And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Offering* (Please take a moment to sign the attendance register.)

How sweet and awesome is the place With Christ within the doors,While everlasting love displaysThe choicest of her stores.

While all our hearts and all our songs Join to admire the feast,Each of us cries with thankful tongue, “Lord, why was I a guest?”

‘Twas the same love that spread the feast That sweetly drew us in;Else we had still refused to taste,And perished in our sin.

(Isaac Watts, 1707)

Offering and Prayer of Dedication

There is life in the blood of the Lamb who was slain. There is power, there is power in his name. There is love pouring out of the wounds that were made,Pouring out pouring over our shame.

So praise the God who saves, praise the God who bled.Praise the God who was nailed to a tree and wore our sins upon his head.

There is truth in his body, raised that third day. There is joy in a stone rolled away. There is hope pouring out of the tomb where he lay,Pouring out pouring over the grave.

For he lives that we too might live,And he loves that we might also loveAnd know the glory of God above.
