Welcome

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God

and in honor of Chase Marshall Duggan.

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available in the Welcome Center. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms before the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room located beside Nursery 1, and the Geneva Room is designated as a Cry Room for parents with fussy children, equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

†The Call to Worship ................................................................... from Psalm 68:32-35Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord,

Praise him who rides across the highest heavens, the ancient heavens, who thunders with a mighty voice.

Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the heavens.

God is awesome in his sanctuary; he gives power and strength to his people.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

Be still my soul! The Lord is on thy side;Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;Leave to thy God to order and provide; In every change he faithful will remain.Be still, my soul! Thy best, thy heavenly, FriendThro’ thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul! The hour is hastening on When we shall be forever with the Lord, When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone, Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored. Be still, my soul! When change and tears are past, All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

†The Confession of Faith ...........................................Westminster Shorter Catechism

Q. 26. How does Christ fill the office of a king? Christ fills the office of a king in making us his willing subjects, in ruling and defending us, and in restraining and conquering all his and our enemies.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace .............................................. Colossians 1:21-23Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven.

Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short, that it cannot save,or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but our iniquities have separated us from God and our sins have hidden his face from us so that he does not hear. Our mouths are filled with anger, our lips are quick to speak lies, our eyes are filled with illicit and unnecessary desires. Our feet are swift to run to evil and our thoughts are the thoughts of iniquity. We have lost our way and are far from the way of peace. The roads we travel are crooked and desperate. We hope for light, but behold darkness. Lord, only you can intercede and bring health to us. Only your strong arm can bring us salvation. May the Redeemer of Zion save us. Amen. from Isaiah 59

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Shorter Catechism, Question 90:

Q. How is the Word to be read and heard in order to become effective for salvation?

A. For the Word to become effective for salvation, we must pay careful attention to it, prepare ourselves, and pray for understanding. We must also receive it with faith and love, treasure it in our hearts, and practice it in our lives.

Words and Music: Larnelle Harris | © 1989 Benson

There is a mighty spirit shining out across the skyHe’s calling out the weary; “To green pastures come and lie”There is a mighty spirit crossing barren landHe’s sowing love unceasing, fresh fruit spring from the sand. Harvest time is coming; the reaper’s in his handGo, tell everybody that love is his command!

There is a mighty spirit shining out across the skyHe’s calling out the weary; “To green pastures come and lie”There is a mighty spirit crossing barren landHe’s sowing love unceasing, fresh fruit spring from the sand.
