W E INVITE YOU TO COME AND
CELEBRATE H OLY W EEK WITH US . Palm Sunday This is the day that Jesus came into Jerusalem. People were so excited to see Him and they rejoiced
when they saw Him. This was like a big parade for Jesus. Today we also remember that Jesus soon
would suffer and die for us on the cross. We reflect on the joy and pain of Jesus’ journey.
Symbol of the Day: Palm Branches (these become the ashes for the next Ash Wednesday)
Color of the Day: RED
Gospel Reading: Luke 22:14--23:56
Mass Times: 5 PM on Saturday, 7:30, 9, & 11 AM on Sunday
Holy Thursday This is the day we remember Jesus’ Last Supper with his friends. We also remember that
Jesus, who is the Son of God, washed his disciples’ feet to show them how much He loved them.
Symbols of the Day: The Eucharist (Body and Blood of Jesus) and Foot Washing
Color of the Day: WHITE
Gospel Reading: John 13:1-15
Mass Time: 7 PM (This Mass will have incense.)
Good Friday This is one of the saddest days for our Church as we remember that Jesus had to
carry His cross and die for us. We do not celebrate Mass this day, but we do reflect
on the cross and thank Jesus for all that He did for us.
Symbol of the Day: The Cross
Color of the Day: RED
Gospel Reading: John 18:1--19:42
Liturgy Times: 3 PM Stations of the Cross (No incense)
and 7 PM Good Friday Service (No incense)
Holy Saturday / Easter Sunday We start this celebration by remembering the Jesus was in the tomb, but now He is RISEN!!
We celebrate by saying the word “Alleluia” again and we welcome people who want to be Catholic into
our Church on Holy Saturday night.

The three days of the sacred Paschal
Triduum begin with the Mass of the Lord’s
Supper on Thursday and culminate with
the celebration of Easter. I noticed that
Holy Thursday, April 18, also marks the
anniversary of the death of Fr. Henry
Boerboom. Fr. Boerboom was our parish’s
longest serving pastor – from 1917 to 1964. He died in 1970.
Boerboom Veteran’s Park in Osseo is named in his honor.
The generation of Fr. Boerboom has been referred to as the
“greatest generation.” It’s a generation that fought through two
World Wars and sacrificed through the economic crash of the
Great Depression – and somehow they found a way to fight
back tyranny. Yet for them it was nothing to boast about. It was
just who they were. They clung to family, their values, and their
faith. They made the world a better place.
Right before his suffering and death, Jesus told His disciples,
“The hour has come.” Now, our hour has come. Let’s cling to Jesus.

The Fellowship & Faith Formation section of the bulletin is where you can find opportunities to connect with other
parishioners through shared activities for fellowship and spiritual growth. This is where you’ll find information about
upcoming social activities and the various groups you are invited to join at our parish. We categorize the activities
by age group to make it easier for you to find the opportunities that appeal to you.
You will also check this section when you want to learn more about our Catholic faith. You can grow your faith
together with other parishioners through various Bible studies, small prayer groups, speakers, retreats, classes,
and other activities for school-aged children, and much more. Your presence is welcome and needed!

Divine Mercy Novena Begins This Friday
In a private revelation, as told in the Diary of St. Faustina, Jesus asked that
Divine Mercy Sunday be preceded by a Novena to The Divine Mercy.
A Novena is nine days of prayer in preparation for a feast. In the case of the
Novena to The Divine Mercy, we pray the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy each day
for a specific intention. Divine Mercy Sunday falls on April 23.
Our Lord told St. Faustina,
"I desire that during these nine days you bring souls to the fountain of My mercy,
that they may draw ... strength and refreshment and whatever grace they need
in the hardships of life, and especially at the hour of death" (Diary, 1209).
You can also learn more at:
www.thedivinemercy.org
Your Divine Mercy Sunday Opportunity to Receive God’s Mercy
The Decree of Indulgence for Divine Mercy Sunday grants a plenary or full indulgence to those who satisfy certain conditions
established by the Church and a partial (incomplete) indulgence to those who fulfill some, but not all, of the conditions.
A plenary indulgence means that by the merits of Jesus Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints, the full remission of the
temporal punishment due to sacramentally forgiven sins is obtained. The person becomes as if just baptized, and would fly immediately
to heaven if he died in that instant.
A partial indulgence means that a portion of the temporal punishment due to forgiven sin is remitted. Partial indulgences are received either
by doing some act to which a partial indulgence is attached (e.g. pray-ing a partially indulgenced prayer), or by the incomplete fulfillment of
the conditions attached to a plenary indulgence.
To demonstrate your desire to receive this mercy,
the basic requirements are: “a plenary indulgence is granted under the usual conditions
(sacramental confession, Eucharistic communion and prayer for the intentions of Supreme Pontiff) to the faithful who, on the Second Sunday
of Easter or Divine Mercy Sunday, in any church or chapel, in a spirit that is completely detached from the affection for a sin, even a venial sin,
take part in the prayers and devotions held in honour of Divine Mercy, or who, in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament exposed or reserved in
the tabernacle, recite the Our Father and the Creed, adding a devout prayer to the merciful Lord Jesus (e.g. Merciful Jesus, I trust in you!)”
Read the full details on the Vatican’s web site:
http://w2.vatican.va/content/paul-vi/en/apost_constitutions/documents/hf_p-vi_apc_01011967_indulgentiarum-doctrina.html
The Divine Mercy Novena
begins on Good Friday
Praying the Chaplet together is a wonderful family
activity that only takes about 10 minutes/day.
During the Solemn Novena leading up to Divine Mercy
Sunday, the Chaplet should be offered each day for the
day's intentions The souls prayed for on each day are:
DAY 1 (Good Friday) All mankind, especially sinners
DAY 2 (Holy Saturday) The souls of priests and religious
DAY 3 (Easter Sunday) All devout and faithful souls
DAY 4 (Easter Monday) Those who do not believe in Jesus
and those who do not yet know Him
DAY 5 (Easter Tuesday) The souls of separated brethren
DAY 6 (Easter Wednesday) The meek and humble souls and the souls of children
DAY 7 (Easter Thursday) The souls who especially venerate and glorify Jesus' mercy
DAY 8 (Easter Friday) The souls who are detained in purgatory
DAY 9 (Easter Saturday) The souls who have become lukewarm

God put the wiggle in
children; don’t feel you have to
suppress it in God’s house.
Sit toward the front where it is easier for your little
ones to see and hear what’s going on at the altar.
Quietly explain the parts of the liturgy and actions of the
priests, deacons, altar servers, choir, etc.
Sing the hymns, pray, and voice the
responses. Children learn liturgical behavior
by copying you.
The presence of children is a gift to the church,
and they remind us that our church is growing.

Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all
who are in need. Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence. Show your mercy as you
close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits. May these special
people find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through the Lord Jesus who healed
those who believed. Amen.
