Seeking God
We tend to think of God in the big moments of life, but I have
found God moving everywhere I turn. A story of grace and
healing in the midst of anger. A quick reminder of a name. A
smile. A laugh. A youth hugging me "whether I like it or not”.
Time and time again, in visiting 90 congregants, I see God in
your hearts. Hearts listening for God's direction. Hearts griev-
ing separation from loved ones. Hearts yearning to connect
with youth and young families. God is at work in our lives.
When we seek God, we will find God for God is all around us
and in us. I thank you for allowing me into your homes and
into your hearts as we seek God together.
Pastor Jennifer Burns

DISCIPLESHIP
Outreach Vision: To extend our hand to others where it is needed, to build relationships with those we help; to serve Christ through our faith and help others.
The Picnic Run Pancake Breakfast was a success as we served over 160 run-ners and workers. A big thank you for all of your help and support! Quilt auction...thank you to all those who donated a quilt as a lot of time and effort goes into making the quilts and they were all exquisite. What can be said other than "WOW"! What a
blessing that over $16,000 was raised for the Brookville Area Handivan which provides such a wonderful service for the Brookville community. Our congregation filled 7 flood buckets for Jackson County Ohio! They were deliv-ered August 12 to Georgetown United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev-erend Zedda Myers was happy to receive the buckets. After the flooding their sup-ply was low. It was a privilege to meet her and deliver the buckets!
Over the summer, Piecemakers has been teaching the youth of our church how to make a quilt. These quilts were the very first quilts our youth made and they decided to donate them to the Pregnancy Help Center in Greenville, OH. The Piecemakers and youth made a trip to the shelter to personally deliver the quilts, then went out for lunch and made a stop at the fabric store as they are anxious to get started on their next quilt. For their next project they will be partnering with Brookville High
School students to make quilts for the Homeless Shelter! The youth have enjoyed getting to know the Piecemakers group. Don't forget all are welcome to join Piecemakers from 9:30 to 3:30 every Thurs.
Feed Brookville starts up again on Saturday, September 12. The vi-
sion for Feed Brookville is to enhance other community outreach ministries by providing one hot meal per
week for community families, children, and the elderly through support from churches, service organizations,
school organizations and other individuals. If you are interested in serving, please see Karen Osswald.
The Laundromat ministry is going well! Don't forget to drop off your quarters! If you have any questions please see Kathy Ferriell.

A NEWSLETTER SERIES ON U.M.C. GIVING – HOW IS CUMC CONNECTED?
How Extravagant is CUMC in our Giving to others? What effect do we have on our community in Brookville, in Ohio, in America, and worldwide?
As a side note – what and how do our apportionments contribute to our mission to respond to Christ’s instructions to
us as individuals and as a church? So, for the next few newsletters, we will explore the following topics:
What do we actually give to all of the communities we choose to assist? How does our giving relate to our CUMC budget?
How do our gifts manifest themselves? Money, time, in-kind items, special projects, use of talents, ser-
vice, ... How much is given to support the church hierarchy vs. total church missions?
How much goes to missions/helping others? How much should we know about the connectional giving and who controls the allocations?
Please give me your feedback. Is this topic of interest to you? What other questions need to be covered about our mission in terms of fiscal responsibility? Please email me at: [email protected] or call me at home (937-832-
2944). — Phil Roberts
