Did you know... JULY 2016 CAMPUS COMMUNICATOR Many of us are aware the May is the Month of Mary and October is the Month of the Holy Rosary but are we aware of the fact that each month of the year is dedicated to a particular devotion? Are we aware of the fact that July is the Month of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus? Somehow, these very popular devotional practices of the past have waned among Catholics today. The website about religion (catholicism.about.com) states the following about this devotion to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus: “Christ’s Precious Blood, like His Sacred Heart, is a symbol of His love for all mankind. In this prayer [N.B. printed below], we recall the shedding of His Blood and ask that He may guide our lives so that we may be worthy of Heaven.” Maybe it is time for us to rediscover the beauty and treasures of Catholic devotional life. Perhaps we begin with this simple prayer throughout the month of July. Petition to Jesus Christ (From the website catholicism.about.com) Lord Jesus Christ, who camest down from heaven to earth from the bosom of the Father, and didst shed Thy Precious Blood for the remission of our sins: we humbly beseech Thee, that in the day of judgment we may deserve to hear, standing at Thy right hand: “Come, ye blessed.” Who livest and reignest forever and ever. Amen. On another note, please remember the youth of the world (including some of our Prep students who are traveling with their parish youth groups) who will be gathering in Kraków, Poland with Pope Francis for World Youth Day. I ask that you also remember Msgr. Frank Koper, Fr. Wally Ptak, Fr. Paweł Lis and myself, who will be participating in the events of World Youth Day, in your prayers. Pray that the youth will leave that experience energized and filled with zeal. May they go out into the world and proclaim the Good News by what they say and how they lead their lives. In a world which opposes anything moral, ethical or religious, they need our prayerful support to remain strong in their faith and to fight off the temptations that surround them daily. Remember: The youth are the future of our Church and our world! One of the fruits associated with WYD is that, after each experience, there is an upswing in the number of vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. Pray that the youth of the world listen during those days and that those who are being called respond to the voice of the Good Shepherd so that the message of the Gospel continues to be proclaimed until the end of time.God bless you! Bonjour! We had a group of 14 from OLSM visit Paris, Normandy, and Brittany. After a few days in Paris, we visited the D-Day Museum, Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery, the cities of Rouen, Caen, St. Malo, Mont St. Michel, and Chartres. The boys had such a great time and learned so much from this experience. We were complimented (and I heard so many times from different people) on how polite the boys were, and I was very proud they were using their French! :) I've attached some pictures from the trip.
