    Solar ChargingThis watch runs on power supplied from arechargeable (secondary) battery that ischarged by a solar panel. The solar panel isintegrated into the face of the watch, andpower is generated whenever the face isexposed to light.

    ● Charging the WatchWhen you are not wearing the watch, put it ina location where it is exposed to bright light.

    While you are wearing the watch, make surethat its face (solar panel) is not blocked fromthe light by the sleeve of your clothing. Powergeneration efficiency is reduced even whenthe face of the watch is blocked only partially.

    If the charge level drops even further, [CHG]will flash. If this happens, all functions aredisabled.

    ● Dead BatteryThe digital display will go blank if the batterygoes dead. Memory data is lost, and watchsettings are returned to their initial factorydefaults.

    Important!

    ● Should the battery go low or go dead,expose the face (solar panel) to light assoon as possible.

    ● Exposing the watch to light while itsbattery is dead will cause [CHG] tostart flashing. Keep the watch exposedto light until the current time appears onthe display.

    Note

    ● If [R] is flashing, it means that allfunctions, except for timekeeping, aredisabled due to high momentarybattery power consumption.

    OverviewThe watch’s time and day settings can beadjusted in accordance with a received timesignal.

    Important!

    ● If you are in a location where a timesignal can be received and you want toreceive the signal, select a city in yourtime zone that supports time signalreception as your Home City. Thewatch will not indicate the correct timeif the Home City setting is wrong.

    ● The watch will normally not performauto signal receive while it is pairedwith a phone. However, auto receivewill be performed if there is noconnection between the watch andphone for more than one day.

    Auto Time Signal ReceiveAn automatic time calibration signal receiveoperation is performed and the time and daysettings are adjusted between midnight and5:00 a.m. Once a signal receive operation issuccessful, no more auto receive operationsare performed that day.Getting ReadyEnter the Timekeeping Mode.l Navigating Between Modes

    Place the watch near a window or some otherlocation appropriate for signal reception.● [RCVD] flashes while time signal reception

    is in progress.● When the receive operation is successful,

    ● Reception takes anywhere from abouttwo minutes to about 10 minutes. It cantake as long as 20 minutes.

    Manual Time Signal Receive

    1. Place the watch near a window or someother location appropriate for time signalreception.

    2. Enter the Timekeeping Mode.l Navigating Between Modes

    3. Hold down (D) for about two seconds.Release the button after [RCVD] startsflashing.This indicates that time signal receptionhas started.

    ● When a receive operation issuccessful, [RCVD] will appear, andthe time and day settings will beadjusted automatically.

    ● If a receive operation fails for somereason, [RCVD] will disappear and[NG] or [ERR] will be displayed. Toreturn to the unadjusted timekeepingdisplay, press any button.

    ● Time signal reception is not possible ifyour Home City is one where timesignal reception is not possible or ifyour phone’s location informationacquisition is turned off.

    Receive Level IndicatorWhile a receive operation is in progress, itscurrent status is indicated on the display asshown below. The level indicator changes inaccordance with the signal quality. Use thelevel indicator to find a location where signalreception is stable.

    Signal Reception Precautions● When the watch is unable to adjust its time

    in accordance with a calibration signal forsome reason, average timekeepingaccuracy is within ±15 seconds per month.

    ● Note that an internal decoding process thewatch performs after it receives a signalmay cause the time setting to be slightly off(by less than one second).

    ● Time signal reception is not possible whenany one of the conditions below exists.ーWhile battery power is lowーWhile the watch is in the Stopwatch Mode,

    Timer Mode, or Alarm Modeー In Power Saving Level 2ーTimer countdown operation in progressーWhile auto time adjustment is disabledーWhile the Home City setting is one where

    time signal reception is not possibleーWhile the watch is outside the time signal

    reception range

    ● If the receive operation is successful, thetime and day settings will be adjustedautomatically in accordance with the HomeCity and summer time settings. Summertime will not be applied correctly in the casesdescribed below.ーWhen the summer time start date and

    time, end date and time, or other rules arechanged by authorities

    ● If your watch is connected with a phone,settings must be configured so G-SHOCKConnected can acquire locationinformation. Even if you are in an area thatis within the reception range of a time signal,reception will not be performed if settingsare configured in a way that makes signalreception impossible.

    ● As of July 2018, China does not observesummer time. If China starts to observesummer time in the future, the timedisplayed by the watch for China may not becorrect.

    Using Watch Operations toAdjust the Time Setting

    ● Setting a Home Time CityUse the procedure in this section to select acity to use as your Home City. If you are in anarea that observes summer time, you can alsoenable or disable summer time.

    Note

    ● The initial factory default summer timesetting for all cities is [AUTO]. In manycases, the [AUTO] setting lets you usethe watch without switching betweensummer time and standard time.

    1. Hold down (A) for about two seconds until[HT] flashes.

    Home City

    2. Use (D) and (B) to change the Home Citysetting.● For details refer to the information

    below.l City Table

    3. Press (C).4. Use (D) to select a summer time setting.

    Each press of (D) cycles through availablesettings in the sequence shown below.● [AUTO]

    1 is added to the minutes when thecurrent count is between 30 and 59seconds.

    ● Use (D) and (B) to change the othersettings.

    5. Press (A) to exit the setting screen.

    Using the Watch in a MedicalFacility or Aircraft

    Whenever you are in a hospital, on an aircraft,or in any other location where auto signalreceive or connection with a phone may causeproblems, you can perform the procedurebelow to disable it. To re-enable auto timeadjustment, perform the same operationagain.

    1. Hold down (A) for about two seconds until[HT] flashes.

    2. Press (C) 13 times.This displays [RECEIVING].

    3. Press (D) to select the auto timeadjustment setting you want.[OFF]: Auto time adjustment disabled.[On]: Enable auto time adjustment.

    4. Press (A) to exit the setting screen.

    Using Mobile Link witha Mobile Phone

    While there is a Bluetooth connectionbetween the watch and phone, the watch timesetting is adjusted automatically. You can alsochange the watch’s other settings.

    ● This function is available only while G-SHOCK Connected is running on thephone.

    C Pair the watch with a phone.Before you can use the watch in combinationwith a phone, you first need to pair them.

    1. Move the phone to be paired with close to(within one meter of) the watch.

    2. Y On the Home Screen, tap the “G-SHOCK Connected” icon.

    3. Y Perform the operation shown on thephone screen to be paired with.● If a pairing prompt message appears,

    perform the operation shown on thephone screen.

    ● If pairing fails for some reason, [NG] or[ERR] will appear on the displaymomentarily and then the timekeepingscreen will appear. Perform the pairingprocedure again from the beginning.

  • Auto Time AdjustmentYou can configure watch settings to connectwith a phone at preset times each day andadjust its time settings in accordance withinformation obtained from an online timeserver.

    ● Using Auto AdjustYour watch adjusts its time setting four timesa day according to a preset schedule. If youleave your watch in the Timekeeping Mode, itwill perform the adjustment operationautomatically as you go about your daily life,without any operation required by you.

    ● The watch will connect with the phoneand perform auto time adjustment ataround 12:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 12:30p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The connection isautomatically terminated after autotime adjustment is complete.

    ● Time signal auto receive will beperformed if there has been no autotime adjustment based on connectionbetween the watch and phone for morethan one day.

    ● Triggering Immediate Time AdjustmentThe watch’s time setting will be adjustedautomatically whenever you establish aconnection between the watch and a phone.Whenever you want to adjust the watch’s timesetting based on your phone's time, performthe procedure below to connect with a phone.

    1. Move the phone close to (within one meterof) the watch.

    2. On the watch, enter the TimekeepingMode.l Navigating Between Modes

    3. Press (D).[TIME] flashes to indicate that the watchhas started the connection operation.Once the watch and phone areconnected, [OK] will appear, and then thewatch will adjust its time setting based oninformation from the phone.

    Configuring World TimeSettings

    Specifying a World Time City with G-SHOCKConnected causes the watch’s World TimeCity to change accordingly. Watch settingscan be configured for auto summer timeswitching for the World Time City.

    ● G-SHOCK Connected World Time letsyou select from among approximately300 cities as the World Time City.

    Q1 The watch cannot perform a receiveoperation.

Also, timesignal auto receive will be performed if therehas been no auto time adjustment based onconnection between the watch and phone formore than one day.

    Q2 Auto time adjustment is notperformed at a scheduled time.

    Is auto time adjustment not beingperformed according to its normalschedule?

    Note that auto time adjustment is notperformed for 24 hours after swapping ofthe Home Time and World Time, or afterthe time setting is adjusted manually onthe watch. Auto time adjustment willresume 24 hours after either of the aboveoperations is performed.

    Is a timer countdown operation inprogress?

    Auto time adjustment will not start at thescheduled times if a timer countdownoperation is in progress. Stop the timercountdown operation.l Timer
