They were welcomed by World shine president Rev.Dr Medad Birungi together with World shine Administrator Madam Connie Birungi, Twinobusingye Ivan, Mugarura Ivan Stuart, Akanyijuka Gideon, Kuribakanya Reuben and Rukundo Joel. MISSION RWENTOBO 2015 – REPORT:

MISSION RWENTOBO is a team from Tonbridge Baptist Church (TBC) in United

Kingdom that has continuously supported and visited World Shine Foundation Primary

School annually. On 14th

/Feb/2015 at 10:45pm, the team arrived at Entebbe airport with its

leader Gordon Miller for their Second visit to Uganda. The team included, Lydia Miller,

Keith Tunstall, David Tunstall, Emily Tunstall, Tim Rilot, Ken Burgess, Connie

Burgess, Dan Porter, Paul Vaswani, Astrid Vaswani, Rosy Nevard, Frayer Black, James

Salako, Jessica Vaswani, Anna Sheard and the World shine coordinator in United

Kingdom Mr Mugyenyi Benson. They were welcomed by World shine president Rev.Dr

Medad Birungi together with World shine Administrator Madam Connie Birungi,

Twinobusingye Ivan, Mugarura Ivan Stuart, Akanyijuka Gideon, Kuribakanya Reuben

and Rukundo Joel. They arrived at Nob View Hotel in Ntinda where they slept.

The following day Sunday 15th

/Feb/2015, the team visited Kakumba Chapel for the

11:30am service. They were warmly welcomed by the Reverend of the said Church where

after the team had to sing a few songs for them. On the same day at 6:30pm, the Mission

Rwentobo team had to attend the Healing for the Nations fundraising Launch at Grand

Imperial Hotel in Kampala where the team led worship. The launch ended at 10:00pm and

the team had to go back to nob View Hotel to sleep.

On Monday 16th

/Feb/2015 at 9:30am, the Mission Rwentobo team left Kampala to

Rwentobo - Ntungamo district. The team was first prayed for by Rev. Dr Medad Birungi for

the Journey mercies, and then the team had to set off led by the World Shine Administrator –

Madam Connie Birungi. They had Lunch at Igongo Cultural centre in Mbarara where the

team members were surprised of the food served in pots. The team proceeded and arrived at

Satellite hotel at 7:30pm. They prayed, had their supper and went to sleep.

On Tuesday 17th

/Feb/2015, the team woke up at 7:30am and met in Satellite Conference

room for the morning devotion where the team agreed that there will be devotions every day

at 7:30am. The first devotion was led by Tim Rilot. The team had breakfast at 9:00am and

left to World shine Foundation Primary School at 10:00am. The team met the children at

10:30am and both parties entertained each other by singing. At 1:00pm, the team suggested to

go back to Satellite hotel to relax and sort out the gifts they had brought for the children. This

is the time Tim Rilot and Arinaitwe Elard went to purchase the paint and other materials

that were to be used in decorating.

On Wednesday 18th

/Feb/2015, there were home visits in the morning and in the evening as

part of the team was painting and decorating. The morning home visits were led by Emily

kekyitinisa and included Ivan Twinobusingye, Astrid Vaswani, Paul Vaswani, Jesiccah

Vaswani, James Salako, Rosy Nevard and Recheal Atwakyire. In the evening, another

team that included Annah Sheard, Lydia Miller, Connie Burgess, Ivan Twinobusingye,

Emily Kekyitinisa, Recheal Atwakyire and David Tunstall also went for home visits

where one of the family was very thankful for the goat she was given that had produced. The

family served us food and gave us a lot of gifts. In return, the team also gave those families

gifts and prayed for each of them. On the same day, some team members went to visit

Rwentobo East School where they preached sung and prayed for the school.

On Thursday 19th

/Feb/2015, Keith, Tim and Ken led the painting group. In the afternoon,

there was a visit to Ntungamo Girls School with Rev. Dr Medad Birungi, Rosy, Astrid,

Paul, Jesiccah, Dan and Ivan. Rosy, Paul and Benson played a skit about Sin and seventy

one (71) girls gave their lives to Christ. Some other members helped in teaching P.6. In the

same afternoon, Lydia Miller and Madam Connie Birungi led a team that was teaching P.4

and P.5 girls about sexual education and how to make sanitary pads to help them when they

join their menstruation periods. This was done after many girls staying at home when they

join their periods and could not have money to buy sanitary pads. This sanitary pad project

ended successfully, many hand-made sanitary pads were made and teachers were encouraged

to make more and supply in all Schools in Rwentobo area and probably in the whole country

on a small cost.

On Friday 20th

/Feb/2015, painting as usual continued from morning to evening, all the I.T

equipments were delivered to the school, four desktops and six laptops which were well

distributed to the School staff. The Headmaster Mr Sunday Jackson, The bursar madam

Tugumisirize Phionah, the deputy headteacher’s office and the WSM Admnistrator

madam Connie Birungi received the desktop computers while Kekyitinisa Emily the

Child’s development officer, Kwikyiriza Amos the Computer teacher, Niwahereza

Duncan the Estates manager, Atwakyire recheal the Assistant Admin of the school,

Connie Birungi the WSM Admin and the Rev. Erone Robert the WSM coordinator in

the Eastern Uganda all received laptops that will help them in doing ministry work. The

new Orange router (4G) and a printer were purchased and added in the Computer

laboratory.

On the same day, six (6) new sewing machines were added in the sewing machine room to

add up to seventeen (17) machines, this is done to help the whole community of Rwentobo

and teach pupils some vocational work. The sewing machine installation was led by Connie

Burgess.

In the afternoon, Lydia Miller and Madam Connie Birungi continued the teaching about

sexual education to P6 and P7 girls and how to make local sanitary pads that will help them

when they join their menstruation periods. The girls were encouraged to do more pads as they

could and give to those that cannot manage to make them. The girls were encouraged to

maintain hygiene to keep healthy and strong.

David Tunstall and Emily Tunstall ministered Rwentobo High School for two hours. The

whole school was prayed for and 58 students gave their lives to God.

In the evening, Rev. Dr Medad Birungi led the giving out of twelve goats (12) to the needy

children in the school. Each child was given two goats – a he and a she goat which will help

them eradicate poverty in their families. The goats were donated by Tonbridge Baptist

Church (TBC) members and TBC Youth group.

On Saturday 22nd

/Feb/2015, the team declared it an off day where the team had breakfast at

Satellite Hotel at 9:00am and decided to visit Lake Bunyonyi which is the deepest district

in East Africa found in Kabale district. The team left at 10:00am and arrived at 11:30am. A

group of twelve people that included Astrid Vaswadi, Paul Vaswadi, Jessica Vaswadi,

Ivan Twinobusingye, David Tunstall, Emilly Tunstall, Dan Potter, James Salako, Rosy

Nevard, Freya Black, Anna Sheard and Rechael Atwakyire went for a boat cruise around

Lake Bunyonyi which was their wonderful experience as they watched the Zebras and

baboons on the different islands of the lake.

The team had lunch at 2:30pm, swimming started at 3:30pm to 5:30pm where the team had to

return to the Satellite hotel at 6:00pm in the evening.

On Sunday 23rd

/Feb/2015, the team divided itself in four different groups to go and minister

in different areas as shown in the table below. In the evening, the team had to show the Jesus

film (Part I) to the people of Rwentobo at the School grounds. This was led by the WSM

western coordinator Mr Byendegye Habert. Some members that include Anna Sheard,

Astrid Vaswani and Connie Birungi had to clearly explain the film to the people by giving

testimonies where many people gave their lives to God.

On Monday 24th

/Feb/2015, Tim, Keith and Ken led the painting and decorating team from

morning to evening. In the afternoon, Connie Burgess and Emily Tunstall led the wounds

clinic group while the other group that included David Tunstall, Ken Burgess, Astrid

Vaswani, Rosy Nevard, Ivan Twinobusingye, Freya Black, Byendegye Habert, Dan

Potter and Jesiccah Vaswani ministered in Rwamanyonyi Secondary School where many

students gave their lives to God.

On the same day at 7:30pm, the last part of the Jesus film (Part II) was showed to the people

and again many people gave their lives to God.

On Tuesday 25th

/Feb/2015, the painting team started finalising with the decoration. Also,

the I.T team led by Paul Vaswadi and Twinobusingye Ivan started finalising the

installations of the I.T equipments as Connie Burgess was also finalising with fixing all the

sewing machines with her team members. After all the computers and the sewing machines

were well fixed, they were transferred to their respective new rooms. There was a Pastor’s,

teacher’s and opinion leaders meeting where Lydia Miller taught about mental care and

how to treat people with different mental problems.

On Wednesday 26th

/Feb/2015, the team finalised the decoration from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

On the same day, Rev. Dr. Medad Birungi chaired the School management committee

meeting from 10:00am to 2:00. In addition, three groups were formed to teach in different

classes. Dan Potter, Anna Sheard and Lydia Miller taught P.1, Paul Vaswani and David

Tunstall taught P.2 while Jesicca Vaswani, James Salako and Freya Black taught P.3. In

the afternoon at 2:00pm, the team gave different gifts to all sponsored children in the

school.

In the afternoon at 2:30pm the Guardian’s meeting kicked off which was chaired by the

World shine president Rev. Dr. Medad Birungi. The meeting was attended by more than

100 guardians who gave their lives to Christ. Tim Rilot and Astrid Vaswani gave their

testimonies which touched the lives of most guardians and changed them. Lydia Miller gave

her testimony about her childhood experience and mental illnesses which made the audience

emotional. The Mission Rwentobo team prayed for all the guardians and the meeting ended at

6:30pm.

Thursday 27th

/Feb/2015 being the last day at School, it wasn’t the best day of all the parties

i.e. the Mission Rwentobo team and the children at the school where both did not want to

leave each other. The day started by home visits in the morning with James Salako, Ivan

Twinobusingye, Emily Kekyitinisa, paul Vaswani, Emily Tunstal, David Tunstall, Dan

potter and Tim Rilot. As the home visits were taking place, the other team was shifting the

remaining sewing machines to the new room.

The Thursday afternoon time seemed to be the saddest and at the same time the happiest

moment where there it was the time to say goodbye to each other and a staff and children’s

party at the same time. A lot of worship songs were sung and many creative dances were

taught to the children and vice versa. Freya Black led a skit about the Israelites and

Pharaoh where Ken Burgess acted as Moses and Keith Tunstall acted as Pharaoh. This

interesting and educational skit was interpreted to the children by Rosy Nevard at the end of

it all.

After all the activities, there was a staff and children’s party, a few gospel songs and giving

out gifts to all the World Shine Foundation staff as a way of saying a goodbye to them.

The day activities ended at 7:00pm with gospel gospels and emotional tears, indeed

GOODBYE IS THE SADDEST WORD.

The team was also highly welcomed by the Satellite Hotel staff with a camp fire and special

meals as Rwahi women group was entertaining the Mission Rwentobo team with the

cultural Bakyiga dances who were joined by a few Mission Rwentobo team members.

On Friday 28th

/Feb/2015, the Mission Rwentobo team had breakfast at 9:00am and left for

their journey back to Kampala at 10:30am. The team passed by school where Paul Vaswani,

Astrid Vaswani and Jessica Vaswani gave away two (2) other goats to some of the needy

children at the school. From the school at 11:00am, the team started their journey to Kampala

where they had lunch at Igongo Cultual Centre, after having lunch they had to proceed to

Lake Mburo National park to watch zebras from where they continued with their journey to

Kampala. The team arrived at Nob view Hotel in Kampala at 8:00pm.

The team proceeded to Grand Imperial Hotel for dinner where different people were

awarded different awards according to how the mission went in past two weeks. This ended

at 10:00 pm and the team had to go back to Nob View Hotel.

On Saturday 29th

/Feb/2015, the team travelled to Imperial Resort Beach in Entebbe for

Lunch and swimming. The team had great fun with some of the Worldshine ministries team

members that included Rev. Dr. Medad Birungi, Connie Birungi, Ivan Twinobusingye

and Gideon Akanyijuka. The Mission Rwentobo team finally travelled to the airport at

9:00pm for their fright.
