C. Age of Pericles (1) Athenian democracy reached its height. (2) all male citizens could hold office and all were paid (3) under Pericles the Athenian Empire reached its greatest influence. He moved the Delian League money from Delos to Athens and used that money to benefit Athenian society. They used force to control the members, which resulted in resentment.

D. The Peloponnesian War (1) started because of trade conflicts between the Spartans and Athenians. Also developed as a result of Athens attempt to control all of Greece. (2) Sparta’s defeat of Athens resulted in them and then Thebes trying to control Greece. This fighting and discontent will eventually result in Alexander The Great conquest of Greece.
