Special Edition: St. Martin’s School
Once again, Gibraltar, along with over 100 other countries around the world, celebrated World
Environment Day on 5th June 2013. This year’s theme set by the United Nations Environmental
Programme focused on Food Waste.
As part of its Environmental Education Programme, the Department of the Environment visited all local
schools and delivered presentations to most children regarding the problems associated with wasted
food in the run up to World Environment Day. St. Martin’s School has been actively involved in reducing
their waste to landfill through local initiatives and awareness at school.
FOOD WASTE
SIDEBAR TITLE
The students and teachers at St. Martin’s School have come up with a brilliant way to re-
use food waste in a fun and efficient way. All left-over food, which would normally be
thrown in the bin, is used to feed the animals in their care at the School. A fantastic way
to minimise the amount of food waste sent to landfill. Well Done St. Martin’s School!
PUTTING FOOD WASTE TO GOOD USE!!!
