Counselling Department
� A workshop was conducted on “Be Smart and Safe: Pre-teen issues”
for parents of class VI & Prerna by Ms. Suman Trivedi on 17.08.13.
� A workshop on “How to talk to your teens” was held on 17.08.13 for
parents of Class VIII & IX including Prerna that was conducted by
Ms. Eve Joshi.
� A workshop on “Self Improvement through Self Assessment” was
conducted by Dr. A. G. Bhalwanker and was attended by Ms. Eve Joshi,
Ms. Suman Trivedi and Ms Varsha Mishra on 17.08.13.
� A workshop on “ADHD and Behaviour Management” for parents of
Prerna, was conducted by Dr. Ajab Primuswala and was attended by
Ms. Suman Trivedi, Ms. Diviya Purohit, Ms. Eve Joshi and Ms. Varsha Mishra
on 07.09.13.
� A workshop on “Dharan Kriya” was conducted by Tanvi Manaas on
07.09.13 and was attended by 18 departmental heads along with Ms.
Suman Trivedi, Ms. Diviya Purohit, Ms. Eve Joshi and Ms. Varsha Mishra.
� To make parenting easier for parents, workshops were conducted by
Ms. Diviya Purohit, counsellor I & II, for the parents of classes I and II on
21.09.13 in Abhivyakti. A research by SEARCH INSTITUTE on
‘DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESTS’ was explained by Ms. Purohit to describe how
the framework identifies and documents positive dimensions of day-to-day
family life that allow families and their members to flourish.
� An orientation programme by SGAI at Baroda was attended by Ms. Bijoya
and Ms. Suman Trivedi on 26.09.13.
� A workshop on “Are you really smart?” for students of grade VIII and IX
was conducted by Ms. Suman Trivedi and Ms Diviya Purohit on 03.10.13.
� SGAI- Advocacy and Orientation Programme was attended by
Ms. Suman Trivedi and Ms. Bijoya Mitra at Navrachna School, Baroda on
05.10.13.
� A meditation Programme for peace conducted by Ms. Kombli Rajagopal was
organized for students of grade VI to X on 30.10.13. It was attended by
Ms. Suman Trivedi and Ms. Eve Joshi.
� A workshop on “separation anxiety” with parents at Calorx Pre-school,
Manekbaug was conducted by Ms. Diviya Purohit on 03.3.14.
� A Conference was organized by IAAP (Indian Association of Applied
Psychology) at Gujarat Law Society from 01.03.14 to 03.03.14. It was
attended by Ms. Suman Trivedi.
� A Conference on “Adjustment as an improvement of quality of life”
organized by ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research) at
Smt. A.S Chaudhary Mahila Arts College Mehsana was attended by
Ms. Suman Trivedi on 22.03.14 & 23.03.14.
Workshops attended by the teachers
� Teachers’ training on “Self Motivation and developing leadership
skills” was conducted by YUVA Unstoppable in three sessions on 12.04.13,
18.04.13 & 03.05.13. A staggering total of 100 teachers participated in the
programme from the Primary section and senior section.
� A team from Eduabroad Consultancy, Mumbai, comprising of Ms. Pratibha
Jain, Ms. Anita Kapoor and Ms. Anita Shah on 18.04.13 visited DPS Bopal.
They were here to counsel and guide the students on education abroad, the
pre- requisites- eligibility, criteria to get admissions in foreign universities,
work permits etc.
� A workshop on “Understanding teaching - learning style” was
conducted by Dr. A. G. Bhalwankar, Provost, Calorx Teachers’ University,
held at CTU on 26.04.13 and was attended by Ms. Hemlata Vaid.
� An enrichment workshop in Economics was held at DPS Dwarka from
29.04.13 - 03.05.13. It was attended by Dr. Mamta Singh (PGT Economics)
� A workshop was attended by Mr. Nishith Raval on “The New World of the
21st Century” by Padma Bhushan Shri Sam Pitroda, held at Gujarat
University Convention Hall on 15.06.13.
� A workshop on “Teachers to Professional Education” was conducted by
Professor Peter DeCosta & Ms. Tarana Patel at A.M.A. on 26.06.13. It
informed the group about the impact of a teacher upon the students like
her conduct, her attitude, sense of dress etc. It also dwelt on “Teachers’ as
a Metaphor”- as facilitator, farmer, mother etc. The workshop was attended
by Ms. Bharti Chhetri & Ms. Kiran Pamnani.
� A workshop on “Social Media In School Education” was conducted at
Calorx University on 06.07.13 by Mr. A. Sethia. It was attended by
Ms. Anju Pachchigar & Ms. Reena Jha. The workshop was about the use of
technology, different websites, and social sites. It also gave ideas on how to
make PPT’s more interesting and how to download online material.
� A workshop was attended by Ms. Sharan Taneja, Mr. Noble Thomas,
Mr. Hukamsingh Verma and Mr. Kehul Purohit on “Educational
Excellence through Team work” on 20.07.13. It was conducted by
Mr. Vivek Randeria at Calorx Teachers’ University, Greenwud.
� A workshop on “Teaching Hindi in an Innovative Way” was organised
at A.M.A. on 27.07.13. It was conducted by Ms. Usha and was attended by
Ms. Simi Arora & Ms. Sushma Pandya. The workshop gave an insight as to
how to make the language more interesting through the use of innovative
and activity based methods. Eg. teaching matras in class 1.
� A workshop on “Effective Classroom Management” was attended by
Ms. Saminder Kaur Guliani and Ms. Rupal Parikh at DPS Dwarka conducted
by DPS Society from 30.07.13 - 02.08.13. It covered various aspects like
How to develop inquisitiveness in Children, Organizing and Managing Class
Learning Environment, Handling Substitution Period Syndrome, Handling
Mixed Ability, Use of ICT Tools in classrooms, Classroom Seating & Designs,
Impact of Right to Education on Classroom Management, Every Child
Matters : Reaching Out to the Whole Class, Compassion for the weak,
Classroom Teacher as a Researcher, Proactive Discipline and Techniques for
Improving Class Discipline and Crisis Management.
� A workshop was attended by Ms Pushpa Nair on mentoring and experience
sharing by Dr. Sadhna P. (Director- Academic and Training-CBSE) at
Aadharshila School, Gandhinagar on 03.08.13.
� A talk was conducted by Mr. Virendra Rawat regarding various green
activities a school can undertake and can also incorporate in their co-
scholastic areas of evaluation on 06.08.13.
� A workshop on “Self improvement through Self Assessment” was
conducted by Dr. Anil G. Bhalwankar at DPS, Bopal on 17.08.13.
Dr. Bhalwankar stressed that the classroom is the best place for research
and that the future of education lies within the four walls of the classroom.
Using visual aids, he explained the concept of Input Indicators, Process
Indicators and Product Indicators; Learning and Teaching style inventory
and various other concepts related to Learning, Teaching, Evaluation,
Research etc. All the teachers of DPS Bopal attended the workshop.
� A workshop on “Swot Analysis” held at DPS Bopal on 17.08.13 by
Dr. Shailendra Gupta was attended by all the teachers.
� Class teachers of Classes I & II and III – V attended training sessions
conducted by Ms. Rupal Parikh and Ms. Saminder Kaur Guliani respectively
on 24.08.13. The topics covered were “Classroom Management” and
“Use of Google Cloud”. It described that teaching is not merely
academics but consists of three aspects: Physical environment, Social
environment and Academic environment. It also explained to teachers the
use of Google Cloud: how to create and share the files online using Google
Drive.
� Regional Summit of School Principals was held at Anand Niketan (Satellite)
on 30.08.13. Lecture on “Substance abuse by School going children”
was attended by Ms. Vandna Joshi and Ms. Eve Joshi.
� A workshop on "Healing yourself through Dharan Kriya" was
conducted by Ms. Tanvi Manhas from Inlighten Global Healing Foundation
on 07.09.13. The purpose of the workshop was to learn the concept of
Mind, Body, Soul and how thoughts affect our well-being.
Ms. Tanvi elaborated that to gain control and access to our positive
thoughts and feeling of well-being we need to borrow energy and
Inlightenment Light and sound vibrations. She also explained ‘Dharan Kriya’
and shared scientific experiments and validations about the same. A verbal
guided meditation session of the participants followed which led to a variety
of experiences that were shared. The participants gained a different
perspective of the world energies through the session. Many teachers from
primary and senior school attended the workshop.
� Ms. Bijoya Mitra & Ms. Suman Trivedi attended the SGAI advocacy
programme organized by CBSE in Navrachana School, Sama, Vadodara on
05.10. 13.
� A workshop on “Effective Communication Skills” was attended by
Ms. Bhavika Narielwala and Ms. Kumud Sharma at Calorx Teachers’
University on 17.10.13. The purpose of the workshop was to explain that
communication, being key to our profession, opened many new arenas to
approach the teaching - learning process.
� A workshop was attended by Ms. Tulika Saha on 21.10.13 to 25.10.13. It
was based on new developments in the English subject especially with
respect to classes IX and XI held in Delhi (English Enrichment Programme).
� A seminar on “Unraveling the Mystery of CCE through
Multimedia" held at Calorx Teachers’ University, Ahmedabad on 26.10.13.
It was attended by Ms. Preetha Nambiar, Ms. Bijoya Mitra &
Ms. Pushpa Nair.
� A Maths workshop on “Fun with Numbers- Concrete to Abstract” was
conducted by Mr. Shaji from ‘Jodo Gyan’ group from New Delhi for all
teachers of classes I and II and teachers teaching Maths of classes III -V on
16.11.13. Teachers from DPS East, Calorx Global School, Prerna and
different Calorx Public Schools also attended the workshop. The whole
workshop was based on doing hands-on activities and not by writing. The
main aim of the workshop was to help the children learn and understand
the concepts of Maths with understanding and joy. All the participants did
many group activities with number-tools, ganit mala, fraction kit,
geometrical shapes etc. and also learnt some magical tricks to make the
topic interesting. The concepts of Number sense and place value, basic
operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, 2-D
& 3- D, and geometry were dealt with in the workshop.
� A workshop on Neurodiversity was conducted by Dr. Prathma Raghvan
on 20.11.13 in AV Room. Dr. Prathma explained in detail about
Neurodiversity issues such as Autism Spectrum, ADHD and Learning
Disabilities. The workshop was an eye opener to identify the children with
the symptoms of Neurodiversity. All the teachers of primary section
attended the workshop.
� A workshop was organized by ‘All India Educational Testing Services -
AIETS’ at Inder Residency, Opp. Gujarat College Aiets’ on 22.11.13. It was
attended by Ms. Hemlata Vaid & Ms. Suja Jose. The topic was CCE
Implementation: Issues and Challenges and was conducted by Mr.
Avinash Agarwal.
� Ms. Krishna Mukherjee attended a two day workshop in Adani Vidya Mandir
on 27.11.13 to 28.11.13. It was conducted by Central Board of Secondary
Education. It was a Training of Oral Examiners’ Assessment of Speaking and
Listening Skills (ASL).
� A workshop was attended by Ms. Priyanka Kanwar & Mr. Parag Joshipura in
Ahmedabad International School, Bodakdev on 30.11.13. Topic was
communication skills, conducted by Ms. Mora from Ireland (Trinity
College).
� A workshop on “Latest teaching methodologies & classroom
strategies” was held at AMA on 06.12.13. It was conducted by
Mr. John Mason and was attended by Ms. Princy Nair.
� A workshop on “Learning Computer Science through Activity”
organised by Oxford University Press and conducted by Ms. Geeta Zunjiani
was attended by Ms. Kirti Lamba and Ms. Malvika Sharma at AMA on
07.12.13. The objective of the workshop was to incorporate activity based
IT learning in the primary computer education. It was an interactive
workshop with a lot of activities like word association, team building, draw
what you hear, mind map, brainstorming etc. The activities were planned to
encourage the maximum participation, enhance communication and
creativity. Ms. Geeta also elaborated on the need and advantages of mind
mapping and brain storming to teach different aspects of IT. Different audio
visuals were shown for an effective impact.
� A workshop was attended by Mr. Satheesan held at IIT campus, conducted
by IIT Mumbai, Powai from 07.12.13 to 12.12.13. The topic was
“Innovations and technologies in Mathematics”.
� A workshop on Kathak was attended by Ms. Indrani Ganguly from
30.12.13 to 02.01.14 at Hutesingh Visual Arts College, Ahmedabad. The
workshop was conducted by Pandit Shri Birju Maharajji assisted by
Ms. Saswati Sen.
� A seminar attended by all school staff was held at Mahatma Mandir,
Gandhinagar conducted by Calorx Teachers’ University in collaboration with
the State Government of Gujarat on 10.01.14 & 11.01.14. Name of the
seminar was ‘Educating Young India Summit 2014’.
� A workshop on “Listening & Speaking skills through English Lab” was
conducted on 22.01.14 at DPS Bopal by Mr. Jasvinder Singh from Words
Worth. Since CBSE has introduced Listening and Speaking skills within the
syllabus, this workshop introduced the teachers the importance of having
an IT supported English Lab for classes III to XII to enhance the listening
and speaking skills of the children. It also emphasized on appropriate
pronunciation skills and usage of correct grammar. Ms. Princy Nair,
Ms. Bhavika Narielwala, Ms. Aarti Manral and Ms. Nilima Sinha attended the
workshop.
� A workshop on “German Music Instrument (Recorder)” was organised
by Yamaha on 23.1.14 & 24.1.14 at The Calorx School. It was attended by
Mr. Sushim Varma and Mr. Shardul Brahmachari.
� A workshop on “Raising the Bar” was attended by all ACs & DCs of DPS
Bopal on 27.01.14 & 28.01.14. It was conducted by Calorx Teachers’
University at its campus.
� A workshop on “Teaching musically” was attended by Ms. Renuka Pllai at
Calorx Teachers’ University on 14.02.14. It was conducted by
Ms. Chandana Chakravarti to emphasise the importance of music in the field
of education. She explained that having music as a part of all subjects can
increase the concentration of a child.
� A workshop on “Learning disability and assessment” was held at DPS
Bopal on 01.03.14 conducted by Dr. Prathama. It was attaneded by
Ms. Ashu Mathur, Ms. Ruchika Sobti, Ms. Pooja Bachani and
Ms. Nilima Sinha. It was a workshop based on understanding the child’s
performance IQ and verbal IQ.
� A workshop was attended by Ms. Suman Trivedi on 01.03.14 to 03.03.14.
The topic covered the 49th National and 18th International Conference of
the Indian Academy of Applied Psychology (IAAP) on Psychology for Holistic
Living Global World. It was conducted by Gujarat Law Society at Gujarat
University Convention Hall, Ahmedabad.
� A Speaking and Listening Demonstration was conducted by resource
persons from Orient Black Swan on 06.03.14 at DPS. An introduction on
how to use the book "A Speaking Listening Course for CBSE Schools" for
classes III to XII, which will be introduced in the syllabus in the next
academic session, was carried out by the resource people. They also
explained the teachers how to use the book and when to begin with the
listening and speaking skills. How to assess the students was also explained
giving Assessment samples which was required for all the teachers to know
and understand. The demonstration was attended by Ms. Princy Nair,
Ms. Ruchika Sobti and Ms. Nilima Sinha.
� Training on Robotics was attended by Mr. Hiren Thakkar, Ms. Alpa Biju,
Mr. Deepak Pithadia, Ms. Malvika Sharma, Mr. Ketan Sharma and
Ms. Kirti Lamba at DPS Bopal from 13.03.14 to 15.03.14 and 18.03.14 to
20.03.14. It was conducted by Mr. Prathamesh from Thinklabs. The training
was conducted to introduce the concept of Robotics as a part of curriculum
of Computer Science where students will have hands-on science
experiments/activities in the classroom using specially designed kits by
Thinklabs. The curriculum focuses on constructive learning, the kind of
education that guides students to interact with the objects around them,
appreciating and interpreting their scientific value.
� Ms. Monita Dash & Ms. Sangita Arora attended a workshop on 22.03.14.
Topic covered was “How to improve Teaching and learning through
Mini observation”. It was conducted by Dr. Bernadette Anand.
� A workshop on “How to improve teaching and learning” was attended
by Ms. Nidhi Sharma on 23.03.14 at CTU. The workshop stressed on the
ways to improve teaching and learning through less observations and also
on the importance of leadership in the modern education system.
� A “Heritage Painting Children Workshop” was organised by West Zone
Cultural Zone on 18.03.14 to 26.03.14 at various heritage spots like Adalaj
step well, Sarkhej Roja, Hathisinh na Dera and Mehta ni Pole (Dariapur).
Mr. Kushang Talati along with 10 students from the school attended the
workshop wherein on the spot sketching was taught.
Parents’ Workshops by teachers
� A positive parent-teacher relationship contributes to any child’s success in
school. To build such a relationship, parents’ workshops for Classes I & II
and Classes III- V were held by the class teachers on 06.07.13 and
20.07.13 respectively.
� Class teachers of classes III- V conducted a parents’ workshop on 18.01.14
to educate parents about certain crucial general points, syllabus,
assessment and preparing their wards for the next class.
� Parents’ Workshop for classes I and II was held on 01.02.14. The meeting
was aimed at apprising the parents about their ward’s progress as well as to
discuss the CCE process and also to prepare their wards for the next class.

attended by Students
� Earth Day is celebrated worldwide every year. A workshop for the students
of Classes IV and V was conducted on 22.04.13 by Mr. Anand Lall and
Mr. Pradeep Anneparthi from The Fern Hotel, An Ecotel Hotel Ltd.,
Ahmedabad in the A.V. Room.
� An interactive session was conducted by Ms. Rashmi Pant, Deputy GM,
Veeda Clinical Research, Ahmedabad on 20.07.13. She guided the students
of Class XI and XII (Biology sections) on how to make Pharmacy as their
career.
� A workshop was conducted by IDP (International Development Programme)
for the students of Class XII on 30.07.13. IDP creates a platform for the
students where they can meet delegates from different foreign universities
and get idea about the different courses, eligibility criteria, admission
process, duration of courses and career options provided by the foreign
universities especially UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
� A workshop on “Career Guidance”, held at DPS Bopal on 08.08.13, by
Mr. Mohit Mangal, was attended by teachers and students under the Goal
Setting Programme by IQue idea.
� A workshop by Canadian Delegates on courses available in Nova Scotia,
presented by five different Universities was attended by Class XI students
on 16.08.13.
� A workshop on Securities and Exchange Bank of India (SEBI) for the
students of Class XII (Commerce) was held on 27.08.13. It was conducted
by Ms. Alka Baxi, the Certified Resource Person for Financial Education with
SEBI. Concepts like long term and short term plan, time value of money,
investment safety, liquidity and growth, banking-saving, current and term
deposit, E-Banking, compound interest, asset allocation strategy, types of
mutual fund, and equity share were discussed.
� As a part of Word Green Building Week Celebrations, Indian Green Building
Council (IGBC) & Young Indians (Ahmedabad Chapter) organized an
environment awareness session for classes V & VI on 16.09.13. The main
objective of this interactive session was to implant the concept of green in
the minds of school students. The different topics covered in the session
were conservation of oil, food, water and electricity. Students learnt
different tips to save our resources and environment.
� A workshop was conducted by Mr. Neeraj Shah, Director and
Mr. Ankur Wadhawan, Co-founder, ‘Vin college credits’ on “Accelerate
Foreign Education-Save Time and Money” on 21.10.13.
� A workshop was conducted by Indo American Education Society regarding
higher education system in the United States for classes XI and XII on
23.10.13. There was a team of 20 delegates headed by Ms. Le Beth, from
various renowned universities of the US.
� 10 students from class V to XII participated in a workshop from 29.03.14 to
05.04.14 of sketching and painting heritage monuments organised by West
Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur. The paintings done during the workshop
were exhibited at Hutheesing Visual Art Centre.
