A collaborative platform for implementation of

innovations

CHALLENGES• One technical system with three critical functions and interfaces:

– on-board and off-board signalling system– wheel and rail– pantograph and contact wire

• Multiple organisational actors: – Infrastructure manager, maintenance entrepreneurs, train operating companies, rolling

stock maintainers, suppliers, consultants… • Increasing requirements:

– Capacity, punctuality, environment, interoperability…• Degrading infrastructure

– Increased traffic with reduced maintenance and reinvestments• Implementation of innovations

WHAT IS THE EPILOT?• A research and implementation project - develop the railway maintenance process• The goal is:

– Improve maintenance effectiveness and efficiency – Improve punctuality and regularity – Reduce disturbances

• The strategy is to– To provide decision support for maintenance stakeholders– Apply ICT in collaboration – To share data between stakeholders and establish a common platform for the exchange of

information– Stakeholders provides new ideas to verify and implement– Demonstrate solutions and prove that they have an effect on the goals– Test and implement innovations in the industry with the industry
