GATE Center of Excellence, Energy Efficient Vehicle for Sustainable Mobility, in partnership with automotive industry:

– Goal: to train a future workforce of automotive engineering professionals to overcome technology barriers preventing the development and production of cost-effective, high-efficiency vehicles for the United States market.

– Sponsored by US DOE, since 1998– Ohio State only university to have been selected in each of

three competitions– Industry partners cost share and leverage DOE Fellowship

funds – Program value: $3.5M over 5 years, 2011-2016

• Multiple faculty and research staff involved in partnerships expand opportunities for students

• Opens opportunities for skilled internships with partners• Programs develop highly sought-after students for careers

in product engineering and R&D organizations
