High Park

One of the options for your summer is going to a foreign country. Here you have some information about Toronto, in Canada. Read it and then try to answer the questions at the bottom. Perhaps you decide to go there this summer!

High Park is a landmark in Toronto, Ontario located at 1873 Bloor

Street West. You can take public transit and get off at High Park

Subway stop. You can also take the College Streetcar eastbound to the

end of the line. There is also free parking inside the park. High Park

offers many year-round activities for free. During the summer there are additional special

events including an outdoor theatre program called ‘Dream in the Park’. Families with children

can enjoy the Zoo, The Adventure Playground, and the Children’s

Garden. The Zoo is home to Peacocks, llamas, Deer and Sheep.

If you like sports, you can go swimming at the outdoor swimming pool,

play tennis, hike on the nature trails, or go cycling on the paved

roadways. Visitors can also watch community baseball and soccer

games in the park.

If you love gardens, High Park offers beautiful Hillside gardens and a Nature Centre. You can

bring a Frisbee or a badminton set. You can also bring a picnic lunch, or eat a meal at the

Grenadier café.

High Park is over 161 hectares large. Colborne Lodge Historical House is located at the south

end of the park. Visitors can take a tour of Colborne Lodge and learn more about John Howard,

who donated his land and house to the City of Toronto in 1873. This land later became High

Park.
