1. PIM: Product Information Manager - Introduction1.1. IntroductionThe PIM (Product Information Manager) is a complex database that hosts thousands of items under variouscategories: digital cameras, video cameras, lenses, classes, binoculars, paper, miscellaneous cameraaccessories and many others; www.mydakis.com contains four main sub-systems: PORTAL INVENTORY WEBPIM (PIM)In order to have access to these three sub-systems, you must log in, having a username and a strongpassword. Now see the steps to follow in order to access “MyDakis”:

Step 2: Type your username and password

Once you have opened this page you will see the three sub-systems of "mydakis":1. PORTAL is the sub-page where the account information is managed for all the users;2. Prices and product information are set under INVENTORY;3. WEBPIM (PIM) is the 3rd sub-system, where all the information about the products can be found and whichthis manual will focus upon;

Specification - Characteristic that summarize the products’ performance and their technical and physical features

Specifications sheet - List of characteristics that summarize the products’ performance and their technical andphysical features

Accessories slots - List of additional items, that, together with the existing product can improve its performance

Presentations - The specifications’ presentation on the product pages: detailed sheet (the main list of specifications onthe product page), catalog (list of specifications that show up in the parametric search /product line menu) andoverview (three preview specifications on the catalog pages).Submissions - Submit new products that you'd like to sell!

Category – A group of items that belong to the same domain and have similar types of specifications

Inventory – All the existing items (new and used) that are considered to be the portion of a business's assets that areready or will be ready for sale.

2. How to create a new categoryA category is a group of items that belong to the same domain and have similar types of specifications; in order to create a new category see the following steps:

Step 1: Click on “New category”

Step 2: Name the category (in English and then in French if necessary) then upload a representative image for the whole category and hit “Save”

Note: If you type the name of the new category in one language it will automatically be saved with the same name in the other language;

• In order to create a new products category, it is recommended to have all the specs at hand prior to organize them in the PIM;

Step 4: Go to the "Specifications sheet" and type “New Folder”

Step 5: Name the folder(s) and click on “Add specification”

Step 6: Click on "NEW FOLDER" and add folders that contain the specifications:”GENERAL”, ”Washer” and “Dryer”

Note that if you type the name of the new category in one language it will automatically be saved with the same name in the other language;

Step 7: Complete all the other items with the details requested by the program, and then do the same thing for all the folders and specifications you want to add;

The first folder we’ll add is called Washer and it will contain 7 specifications; we will do the same thing for Dryers and we will also complete the specs for "General": Brand and Description;

Step 8: The new category with all the sub-folders and specs is now completed:

2.1. How to organize the specsOnce the specs are created, they need to be organized under “Presentations”

The specifications’ presentation on the product pages:• detailed sheet (the main list of specifications on the product page),• catalog (list of specifications that show up in the parametric search /product line menu)• overview (three preview specifications on the catalog pages).

At the beginning, none of these specs are selected … neither for detail, nor for catalog, nor for overview. Usually for “Detail” we select ALL the specs, simply by clicking on the specs, and we do the same thing for the others

Note that the specifications selected for the “overview” and for the “catalog” need to be short, otherwise that will show up as a long text under the parametric search bar, which you wouldn’t like.

2.2. How to edit a category

Step 1: Click on “edit”, make the changes and then hit “save”

3. How to create / add a new product• Once you have entered the new category, in order to add/create new products for the WebStore you need to follow

some important steps:

Step 1: Click on “Products”

Step 2: Click on “New product”

Before adding/creating a new product, make sure you have at hand all the specs and one or more images for the product you are about to add;

• Note that the product interface (page) has 4 different windows; do not forget to save any modification you have

• Before adding / creating a new product, make sure you have at hand all the specs and one or more images for the product you are about to add;

Step 1: Choosing a brand: delete "unknown" and start entering the name of the brand; if the brand has already been created it will automatically appear and all you have to do is to click on it; you can also search for the brand in the drop down list; if the brand has not been created see Step 5;

Step 2: Go to PRODUCT IMAGES window, click on EDIT and add the main image and also the additional images if you have;

Step 3: Click on PUBLISH – in order to make the item visible in the system

• PRODUCT VARIATIONS contains two windows: Variation name and Variation images• You can add an unlimited number of variations; (click on Add Variation)
