deadline and the amount of pay to get the job done that they have been hired for.

Advantages – Means you don’t have to do the job yourself giving you time do other things plus it will be exactly as you wanted it as that the only reason you’ll be paying them.

Disadvantages – If you don’t read the agreement properly you could end yourself in a deal that only works in the other persons favour and you loose more money and don’t get what you want.

the company and as there is no contract it would be hard for the company to be able to get money from them.

a product for them. The brief is negotiated between the two media companies. Once the product is finished the independent company is paid.

My BriefWhich structure/structures will the Vegetarian Recipe Cards brief use? Reference your reasons for choice/choices - The type of brief were going to use for our brief is going to be a formal brief as it

gives out the information that is needed to create what it is which is the vegetarian food cards.

-We could also use the competition brief so that we could have a variety of different entries and then we could choose the best from these to actually be made and then we’d have more chance in order to find what we want exactly.

Reading the BriefWhy is important to thoroughly read your brief? Its important to re-read your brief after writing it to make sure that whoever is going to complete

the task you’ve set is going to do exactly what you want them to and that if its not to what you want that the wont be paid for doing it. You will not end doing something you don’t want to do because if you don’t read the brief you may agree to something that you didn’t want to.

Reading the BriefWhat is the nature and demand of the Vegetarian Recipe Cards brief? We have been asked to produce a vegetarian recipe card with the intention to either help

someone choose to be a vegetarian with the amount of meals and substitutes there are or to give current vegetarians more options with varieties of foods that they could have. We have 10 weeks to complete the whole project. We have an option to take our own pictures or use a high resolution image from the internet but we might take our own pictures.

Page 13: Working to a brief task 2

Negotiating a BriefWhy is it important to discuss the brief with your client prior to production? You need to make sure you are capable of doing what the client wants; if you have the right

material and equipment for example. You may need to change parts of the brief so it is actually possible to make the product that the client wants. Also the client needs to know if you can get the product finished on time

Page 14: Working to a brief task 2

Negotiating a BriefWhat are the advantages and disadvantages of employing discretion with a brief? One advantage of this is that it is fast and efficient and you can just get on with getting the

product finished. You don’t have to worry about checking with the client to see if everything is going to plan.

One disadvantage is that when the product is finished then the client might not like it as they have not seen it in production and they don’t have any say half way through the project so they cant change anything.

Page 15: Working to a brief task 2

Negotiating a BriefAre there any potential legal/ethical/regulatory issues with the brief’s proposed product? You would be able to sort each of those things out within the negotiating of the brief to make

sure your both happy as the client or company so that nothing can interrupt the working relationship.

Negotiating a BriefAmendments you have considered to;The ProductAny copyright right boundaries that we have to consider.

The BudgetIf equipment is damaged then we might not have enough money to complete the project. For

example if a camera breaks we would have to use a high resolution image from the internet.

The ConditionsThe client may pay too little if the product is not how they wanted so the company needs to make

sure that the client gives all the money that is owed.

would be a better idea.
