SCHOOL of ADULT EDUCATION

ESOL GED ABX Adult High School

(AHS)

• 18 and 24 credit options (AHS)• Must have a 9.0 or higher on

Reading, Language and Mathematics – TABE (Level D) to register for GED or HS classes

• Must have 12 High School credits upon entry (AHS only)

• Online, with face to face proctored final exam for each course (AHS)

• 16 years of age or older• ESOL and GED/ABX/Applied

Academics classes• Offer day and night classes on all

campuses including off-site locations: Pierson (ESOL, GED), County Corrections, Orange City-Career Source(GED), Deleon Springs (ESOL)

• AEV for Workforce• ESOL registration based on CASAS

AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION REPAIR & REFINISHING

Program is 3 semesters and can be completed in one calendar year

Classes run 15 weeks in the Fall, Spring and 10 weeks in Summer

The typical schedule is Monday through Thursday– 9:00am – 2:10pm for Spring

and Fall– 8:30am – 4:00pm for

Summer Lecture part of the class is online

AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNOLOGYEntrance Qualifications:

NATEF Nationally Accredited Program

Must have a Florida Driver’s License or State Issued ID

Must be a High School graduate or equivalent

Must be physically able to perform the duties of the trade

Math, Science and Algebra is strongly recommended, but not required

Two Year Program

BUILDING TRADES AND DESIGN CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY

Entrance Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older by completion

Must have a Florida Driver’s License or State Issued ID

Must be a High School graduate or equivalent

Take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) which measures reading, English and math skills, and achieve specified minimum scores

Must be physically able to perform the duties of the trade

Classes are M-Thu, 4:00pm – 9:50pm offered at the ATC.

HVACEntrance Requirements:

Students who do not have a standard high school diploma/GED may be eligible for admission, on an alternative basis, to this program if they meet the following criteria:

Take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) which measures reading, English and math skills, and achieve specified minimum scores.

Meet with a counselor/advisor for placement test evaluation to receive advice on course selection and registration.

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Must be able to climb a 12-foot ladder.

Students who do not have a standard high school diploma/GED cannot receive student financial aid.

MACHININGEntrance Qualifications:

Must take the TABE and achieve the specified minimum scores

WELDING TECHNOLOGYEntrance Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older Must have a Florida Driver’s License

or State Issued ID Ability to understand and follow

specific directions. Ability to handle and operate all

welding equipment in a safe manner.

COSMETOLOGY AND BARBERING1200 Clock Hours – 5 Levels

New classes start every Fall & Spring

Must be at least 16 years of age or have a HS diploma/GED to qualify for financial

aid.

CHILD CARE APPRENTICE CERTIFICATE (CCAC)

Entrance Qualifications:

– Must be 18 years of age or older.– Must be employed in a private child care center.– Must possess GED, high school diploma or

certificate.– Students attend classes one night a week

(Daytona, Deland, or Deltona) along with on the job training.

– Complete two year program and earn certificate enabling them to be a lead VPK teacher.

MID-FLORIDA G.N.J. NON-UNIONELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP

Entrance Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older• Must have a Florida Driver’s License or State Issued ID• Must be a High School graduate or equivalent• Must be physically able to perform the duties of the trade• 4 year program consisting of 2 nights per week (Monday &

Wednesday), 3 hours per night 6:30pm – 9:30pm• 4 years of on the job training, working for a participating

contractor 40 hours a week (Totaling 8,000 hours over 4 years).

• Classes only start once a year in August• Each year of the program consists of a Fall, Spring and

Summer semester (No classes, OJT only)

ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP UNION

ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Potential apprentices must be 18 years of age at the time of the application

• High School diploma or GED is required• Valid Driver’s License• Physically able to perform duties of trade• One credit of HS Algebra• Take the industry’s validated aptitude test• Take a drug test prior to employment

PLUMBING AND PIPEFITTING APPRENTICESHIP

perform the duties of the trade• 5 year program with OTJ

training• Classes are Saturday’s from

7:00am – 5:30pm• After applicant is accepted, they

are directed to complete the DSC enrollment online
