    THEME: LANDSCAPE, TRACE OF PASSAGES

Starting from the central issue of the project we propose

the following theme as a unifying thread for the various

side events our school is going to stage:

    LANDSCAPE, TRACE OF PASSAGES

    Nothing comes from nothing.

Each creation has its roots in a territory,

    and from there it sprouts.

We are the space we live in.

In a relationship of mutual exchange man and landscape inform eachother. Each of them fits the other in a productive ongoing dialogue fromwhich man himself draws sustenance for the material and spiritual life.

The bond that embraces both, provides a sense of belonging and identityand must be unique.

We are made of the same matter that surrounds us.

How would our sites be without our presence?

No roads, only trees, intricate and impenetrable forests,

a few clearings, everything in sight.

What did man do while colonizing the territory?

    REASON FOR A CHOICE

This theme particularly fits our social and geographical context, sincemultiethnicity is only marginal in our town if compared to thesituation of Marseille: we live in a relatively small town where theeffects of recent migrations on the social structure are still hard tosee especially in the field of art.

Nevertheless the impressive sceneries of our region so full of history, past and present, can be surely interpreted as signs of multipleidentities giving shape to our present.
