Gateways Gossip

Hi all and welcome back to the new school year. We have been very busy in Gateways settling in our new Year 10 students and working hard on

completing first assessment tasks already due for both Stage 1 and Stage 2 classes. We have had a good start with all students for the most part

becoming familiar with where they have to be during the day and the different lessons that they have throughout the College. We have also benefited

from having visitors to our College from Indigenous Allied Health Australia (IAHA) who came and had a session with all our Indigenous students

explaining to them that there are many ways in which they can reach their full potential through persistence and going to University if they want to. It

was a very interesting and interactive, all students involved had a great time and were well informed by the end. Thank you to Ann Goodwin for

organizing this. Below are some photographs taken during the visit. We look forward to a great year with lots more exciting things going on in the

coming weeks to share with you all next time around.

Languages at Centralian Senior College

Language classes have begun well at Centralian

Senior College. There are a number of students

who have continued with their language studies

from Year 9 at Centralian Middle School, well

done!

Stage 1 Language students continue to improve

their language skills in Chinese, Japanese, Spanish

and Indonesian.

Stage 2 Language students are working very hard

in all language areas and we are very proud of

them. Did you know that completion of a

Language at Year 12 level carries extra bonus

points with you towards university entry?

The consul, from the Japanese consulate Sydney,

visited Japanese Language students at Centralian

Senior College on the 12th of February. Mr

Takaoka met the Year 11 Japanese students and

was very impressed with their Japanese language

skills.
