Vehicle safety on construction sites
Every year in the construction industry, people are killed or injured as a result of being struck by moving plant. Accidents occur throughout the construction process, from groundworks to finishing works. Managers, workers, site visitors and the public can all be at risk if construction vehicle activities are not properly managed and controlled.
Aim of this event:
To improve the management of plant and pedestrian interface issues on construction sites.
Objectives:
At the end of the session delegates will:
1 Understand the significance of this issue through brief case studies of industry accidents and the impacts this has had. 2 Be aware of the existence of HSG144 The safe use of vehicles on construction sites and how it can help them, and where to freely obtain a copy. (http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/books/hsg144.htm)3 An improved understanding for the key requirements from HSG144, namely: - Safe workplaces - Safe vehicles - Safe driving and work practices - Managing construction transport, including plant deliveries/collections to/ from site.4 Be aware of current industry innovations and good practice.
Employers, employees, sole traders or anyone else who works on or has need to visit building sites will benefit from attending this free event.
