Job Description for Peripatetic Woodwind Teacher

Peripatetic Woodwind TeacherRequired for the beginning of the Lent Term, January 2022.Thomas’s Battersea Music Department requires an outstanding teacher of woodwind to join our large and dynamic team of professionals. We are looking to recruit a candidate to teach for one day a week, with the potential to increase to two days a week, depending on demand.

The position will require the candidate to teach ideally on Wednesdays.

The candidate must:• Be an inspirational and dedicated woodwind teacher for children and

young adults.

• Be a kind person and first-rate musician.

• Have outstanding knowledge of a wide variety of styles including classical

and jazz.

• Be confident teaching both double and single reed woodwind instruments.

Ideally, we would like the candidate to teach: Oboe, Bassoon, Flute, Clarinet,

Saxophone and Recorder. Double reed expertise is our priority, but we would

like the candidate to be confident teaching other woodwind instruments up

to Grade 5 standard.

• Be creative and forward thinking in their teaching style.

• Be comfortable with teaching a wide range of ages, from age 6-14.

• Be able to commit to regular teaching days.

• Be prepared to lead ensembles as required by the Director of Music.

• Enjoy working in a thriving, busy atmosphere.

• Be highly organised and IT literate.

• Be keen to get involved in the happy and thriving musical life of the school.

• Have a good sense of humour and be a team player.
