What is High School Band?
Students who join the Woodland High School Band program will be placed into one of four concert band classes that meet daily and yearlong as part of their academic schedule. Unlike middle-school, all of our band classes are separated by difficulty, meaning that each class will have 9th-12th grade students. All students that sign up for band class may choose to take an optional audition for our advanced ensembles. Information on auditions will be distributed to students in early Spring, following LGPE.
What are some of the benefits of joining us?
- Make friends before the school year even begins! - Be a part of something bigger than yourself, having pride in
one of the most visible organizations in Bartow County! - Surround yourself with the best and brightest Woodland has to
offer - Learn about teamwork, discipline, commitment, time
management, and other valuable life skills - Have fun with your friends as we travel around the state and
around the world!
THE WOODLAND WILDCAT MARCHING BAND
MARCHING BAND REGISTRATION INFORMATION All band students must be part of the marching band to be part of our band program, and all students must take a band class to be a part of the marching band. Marching band formally beings in July with practices at the school and at our mandatory marching band camp. Once school begins, the marching band rehearses after school a few days a week throughout the duration of football season. While all prospective members are expected to attend a few practices in the Spring, these are not formal auditions. These practices are used to place each student on the appropriate drum (for percussion), give the students an opportunity to play with the band before the season begins, and get a marching instrument in their hands (for those that play different instruments for marching than they do for concert band). For the colorguard, the auditions will be a time to get everyone familiar with flag equipment used. To be a member of the color guard, no experience or band class is required, so feel free to encourage your friends not currently in band to audition for this group.
