Of all components for sustainable building, timber excels as the only major renewable material. Every cubic meter of woodhas absorbed one ton of carbon dioxide, one of the greenhousegases, while it produced 700 kilos of oxygen*.

Of course, this all happened when the wood was still pertainingto a tree. But just how environmentally responsible is it to cuttrees and turn them into venetian blinds. Unlike other buildingmaterials, trees can be planted and therefore 'regrown'.

A number of our products carry the FSC label and are independently certified to assure consumers that the wood comes from forests that are managed in such a way as to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present andfuture generations.

From the forest to our factory, all parts of the supply chain are checked by the FSCorganisation. FSC certification for wood is part of Hunter Douglas' commitment toa more sustainable world and to the conservation of the world's forests.
