Day 2   ISTANBUL SIGHTSEEINGEnjoy a full day sightseeing tour including a visit to see parts of the Topkapi Palace Museum, residence of the OttomanSultans between 1453–1852. Visit the Hippodrome, once the centre of life where chariot racing and other public eventstook place. Visit the Blue Mosque built between 1609 and 1616, so-called for its blue ceramic tiles. Your last stop will bethe famous Grand Bazaar, the world's largest and oldest covered market with over 60 streets. Consider joining a deliciousTurkish optional dinner where local cuisine is served along with traditional belly dancing entertainment.Buffet Breakfast

Day 3   ISTANBUL – ANKARAThis morning enjoy free time in the city or take an optional experience of Hagia Sophia. This church was built in theByzantine capital during the 6th century and converted into a mosque by the Ottomans. Today it houses a museum andis known as one of the world's greatest architectural wonders. Afterwards consider taking a cruise along the Bosphorusenjoying views of the strait that separates Asia and Europe. Its shores are lined with fine neighborhoods, Ottoman palaces,fortresses, old wooden villas, parks and gardens, restaurants and cafés. Early this afternoon depart for the capital city ofAnkara for an overnight stay.Buffet Breakfast,Dinner

Day 4   ANKARA – CAPPADOCIA (2 NIGHTS)Visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, a historic caravanserai holding artifacts from as far back as 7500 yearsincluding the most extensive and valuable collection of Hittite artifacts in the world. Visit the Mausoleum of Ataturk,the father of modern Turkey. Drive to Cappadocia where you will visit the underground city of Sarhatli, one of the manyunderground settlements built for protection and religious reasons. Perhaps take an optional experience this evening tosee a mesmerising Whirling Dervish performance with dinner at a local restaurant.Buffet Breakfast

Day 5   CAPPADOCIA SIGHTSEEINGThis morning visit Pasabagi and the red valley and later stop at a regional rug production centre to have a firsthandexperience of this unique art.  This afternoon you may wish to take an optional experience to Goreme and Avanos.Goreme, a historical region of Turkey located among unique rock formations, was first settled back in the Roman period.Many rock churches can still be seen today, as Christianity was then the prevailing religion in that region. Afterwardscontinue to the town of Avanos renowned for its high quality earthenware. This evening dinner will be served at yourhotel.Buffet Breakfast,Dinner

Day 6   CAPPADOCIA – KONYAToday drive to Konya and visit the famous mausoleum of the Sufi philosopher Mevlana. This was also the dervish lodge ofthe Mevlevi order, better known as the Whirling Dervishes. Later check into your hotel in Konya and enjoy dinner.BuffetBreakfast,Dinner

Day 7   KONYA – PAMUKKALEAfter breakfast, leave Konya and travel to see the unique cotton fortress of Pamukkale with its white lime cascades formedby mineral springs. Day 8   PAMUKKALE – EPHESUS & ST. MARY'S HOUSE – IZMIRToday travel to Selcuk and tour the famous ruins of Ephesus, an important cultural center of the ancient world. Explore2,000 year-old marble streets, view a magnificent theater, see the Library of Celsus, a gymnasium and finally Hadrian'sTemple. Then take a short drive from Ephesus to see St. Mary's stone cottage, where it is believed Virgin Mary spent herlast years accompanied by St. John. Continue to Izmir.Buffet Breakfast

Day 9   IZMIR – PERGAMON – TROY – CANAKKALEVisit the ancient Medical Center Asclepion in Pergamon and continue to Troy with its famous wooden horse. WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE TOUR PRICEInter-city travel: By private motorcoach, trains and ferries (see itineraries).Travelling: By air-conditioned luxury motorcoaches. Please note that on some Regional Tours and London sightseeing, motorcoacheswithout toilet facilities are used. In the Middle East, air-conditioned motorcoaches (or minibuses in Israel) without toilet facilities areused. If due to circumstances beyond our control coaches are used otherwise than as advertised, a refund of U$10 per person will be made.Air transportation: Within Europe is included in the Land price only when indicated in the First Class Travel Highlights panel on specificitineraries.Hotel accommodation: Prices are per person and based on two persons sharing a twinbedded room with private bath or shower. Whenbooking triple rooms please note that in some hotels may consist of one double bed and the third bed may be a ‘roll-away’ bed whichwill limit space in the room. Availability of triple rooms is limited. Note that single rooms in European hotels are generally smaller thantwin-bedded rooms and that European hotel standards, facilities and services provided may vary from those in other parts of the worldand are often local in style. Substitute hotels may be used at certain times and will be of similar standard whenever possible. There are alimited number of twin-shared rooms available with our Room Share Service. Continental or buffet breakfast on all tours except in Irelandand provincial Britain (not including London) and Scandinavia where full national style breakfasts are served. Dinners are included asdetailed on itineraries. All meals are included on cruises.Sightseeing: Excursions and entrance fees to places of interest visited as detailed on each itinerary with an English-speaking guidewhere necessary.Transfers: Between airports, hotels, railway stations and piers in Europe where indicated on the tour itinerary. Conditions apply, referto page 242 for details.Porterage & luggage allowance: Baggage handling for one suitcase per person on tour, at hotels, is included in the tour price. Notethat Porterage on train tours at train stations is not included. Due to limited coach capacity, this single bag should have dimensionsnot exceeding 30”x18”x10” (76x46x25cm) and weight not exceeding 50 lbs (23kg). A charge of US$3 per travelling day will becollected by the Travel Director if a second piece of baggage is carried, or if the suitcase exceeds the established weight and/or dimensions.However it cannot be guaranteed that more than one suitcase will be carried. Hand luggage should be one piece per person and should belimited in size (not exceeding 30x28x14cm or 12”x11”x6”) so as to fit under your coach seat or in the small overhead shelf. These are theresponsibility of each tour member and should be taken onto the motorcoach with you. Please note that luggage with telescopichandles and wheels will not fit in the overhead compartments and can therefore not be accepted as carry-on luggagefor safety reasons.Trafalgar will not accept liability for any loss or damage to baggage or any of the passenger's belongings. Passengers should report anylost items to the Travel Director who will assist in completing a lost property form that can be used for any insurance claim in this matter.However, Trafalgar cannot assist in locating any lost items once the passenger has returned home.Airlines may impose stricter weight and size limits for luggage and may also charge fees for checked baggage, including the first checkedbag. BOOKING CHANGES, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDSBooking changes: A fee of R200 per person per change will be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after thebooking is confirmed unless the change increases the value of the booking. A change of tour date or tour itinerary within 45 days (90 daysfor River Cruises) prior to departure* will be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply except when the changeis to an earlier tour departure of equivalent or greater value, in which case a R200 per person amendment fee is charged.Cancellations: If you cancel 45 days or more prior to tour departure, your R1000 deposit will not be refunded, nor can it be credited toany other booking. Notice of cancellation must be made in writing either directly to Trafalgar or through your Travel Agent. No surchargesregarding cost or currency fluctuations will be made to the LAND only price once the deposit is received. This guarantee however, excludespotential fuel surcharges and does not apply to taxes, charges or levies imposed by any government or its agencies. Airport taxes aresubject to change. No refund will be made if costs are reduced. Please note that if the total tour price increases by more than 10%,passengers will have the right to cancel their tour within 7 days of notification of the surcharge without penalty. Accommodation on international tours may differ from those in South Africa Trafalgar cannot guarantee disability accessor accommodation for passengers travelling on international tours.Trafalgar may, in its sole discretion, decline the booking of any passenger or remove any passenger who cannot comply or refuses tocomply with Trafalgar's terms and conditions. Trafalgar is not responsible for any costs incurred in the event a passenger is removed froma tour. Passengers agree not to hold Trafalgar or any of its related entities liable for any actions taken under these terms and conditions.Young traveller 5-17 discount: Trafalgar constantly strives to improve tour itineraries and features. If such improvements can bemade, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary, we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitutehotels. At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order, in which case hotels may vary fromthose stated on the itinerary pages. London Olympics 2012, Religious Festivals, Holidays, Trade fairs (e.g. Amsterdam IBC Congress) orother events (e.g. Venice Film Festival on Lido) occasionally cause changes from scheduled hotels. In these and in other cases substitutehotels may be used and will be of a similar standard and location whenever possible.On tours that include cruises the ship may be changed due to operational reasons. Ports of call on Mediterranean cruises may be curtailedif weather conditions do not permit docking. On locally hosted tours, sightseeing and other services may occasionally be provided bythird parties in which case transportation and itineraries may vary.Trafalgar's ‘Be My Guest’ experiences are unique and take place in singular exclusive locations. In the unlikely event that our local hostsare unable to welcome Trafalgar guests, Trafalgar will attempt to find an alternate experience or a highlight meal will be provided inplace of the ‘Be My Guest’ experience.Holidays & Changes: During local or national holidays abroad, certain facilities such as museums, sightseeing tours and shoppingmay be limited. In such instances, and whenever possible, slight itinerary changes are made by Trafalgar to minimize inconvenience toour passengers. If, however, you feel your enjoyment might be diminished by such minor limitations, please check with the respectivenational tourist office before selecting a specific departure. Similarly, holidays, closing days and other circumstances may necessitate achange of the day of the week for scheduled highlight dinners, sightseeing or other activities.Extended stays: If you have arranged with us to remain at a destination before or after your tour, please understand your stay will be atyour sole expense as is the transfer to either the hotel or airport. Regrettably, Trafalgar is unable to provide free transfers for passengersbooking pre and post night accommodation in Europe. Please also be aware if your extra night hotel is not the hotel where your tourbegins or ends, you will be responsible for your own transfer arrangements at your own expense. Additional transfers can be purchasedfrom Trafalgar, please see page 242 for details.Arrivals and departures: It is essential to allow at least one day before and after your tour if you are joining your Trafalgar tour inLondon. See page 240 for London hotels.For your comfort: Trafalgar operates a daily seat rotation system and seats on coaches cannot be booked. Also a strict non-smokingpolicy onboard motorcoaches applies but regular comfort stops are made on travelling days.Travel cancellation:: Trafalgar reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirementsor circumstances beyond its control. Trafalgar will, whenever possible, offer an alternative tour of similar standard. If there is a differencein cost, it will be at the passengers' expense. If an alternative tour is not accepted by the tour participant within operating deadlines, wewill refund all monies paid to Trafalgar and will be under no further obligation or liability. Trafalgar is not responsible for any additionalcosts/penalties incurred, on travel arrangements and air tickets purchased seperately from the ‘Air and Land’ inclusive package.Trafalgar is not responsible for any other travel arrangements affected due to our cancellations.Travel insurance:Trafalgar recommends that all passengers purchase comprehensive travel insurance. Certain European countries havea requirement for foreign visitors to have valid medical insurance on entry. Trafalgar cannot be held responsible if a passenger is deniedentry for being unable to provide details to the authorities of such insurance.

RESPONSIBILITIESTrafalgar Tours Limited and Uniworld River Cruises Inc, referred to as the Operators, undertake the following duties:1. The Operators shall be responsible to the passenger for supplying the services and accommodations described in this brochure, exceptwhere such services cannot be supplied or the itinerary used is changed due to delays or other causes of whatever kind or nature beyondthe control of the Operators. In such circumstances, the Operators will do their best to supply comparable services, accommodations anditineraries and there shall be no refund in this connection.2. These booking conditions represent the entire agreement between the passenger and the above mentioned Operators.3. In the absence of their own negligence, neither the Operators nor their agents or cooperating organisations shall be responsible forany cancellations, delays, diversions or substitution of equipment or any act or omission whatsoever by air carriers, hotels, transportationcompanies, or any other persons providing any of the services and accommodations to passengers including any results thereof, such aschanges in services or accommodations necessitated by same. Nor shall they be liable for any injury, illness or death, or for any damagesor claims whatsoever arising from loss, negligence or delay from the act, error, or negligence of any person not their direct employeeor under their exclusive control. All baggage and personal belongings are at all times the passenger's own risk. Baggage insurance isrecommended. The carriers, accommodation and other suppliers providing services are independent contractors and are not agents,employees, servants or joint venturers of the operators or their affiliates. All certificates and other travel documents for services issued bythe operators are subject to the terms and conditions specified by the carriers and suppliers and to the laws of the countries in which theservices are supplied. Carriage by sea is subject to the Carrier's Conditions of Carriage which are expressly incorporated into this contract,copies of which are available upon request. The Operators are not responsible for any criminal conduct by third parties.4. Where the passenger occupies a motorcoach seat fitted with a safety belt, neither the Operators nor their agents or co-operatingorganisations will be liable for any injury, illness or death or for any damages or claims whatsoever arising from any accident or incident,if the safety belt is not being worn at the time of such accident or incident.5. Transportation companies, airlines etc. are not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the time passengers arenot on board planes, transportation or conveyances. We rely on international convention which may apply to the services provided byus, our suppliers or agents with respect to any claim of any nature brought by you against us as a result of the provision of those services.International conventions which apply may include: Warsaw Convention 1929, (as amended by Hague Protocol and Montreal Protocol)in relation to air travel, or Montreal Convention; the Berne Convention for rail travel; Athens Convention 1974 for carriage by sea; theGeneva Convention for carriage by road and the Paris Convention 1962 for hotels. We are to be regarded as having all benefit of theseconventions on limiting our liability in relation to any claim for death, injury, loss, damage and delay to passengers and luggage.6. Enrolment in and payment for a tour shall constitute agreement and acceptance by the passenger of the terms and conditions set forthin this brochure which cannot be varied except in writing by an officer of the Company.7. All matters arising are subject to English law.8. Every effort is made to ensure brochure accuracy at the time of going to press; however Trafalgar cannot be held responsible for printingof typographical errors, or errors arising from unforeseen circumstances.

OTHER CONDITIONSIt is your responsibility to comply with the terms, conditions or requirements of any service provider, or any country or governmentalauthorities, or to bear any costs or losses incurred as a consequence of you not complying with them.

BOOKING ARRANGEMENTSYour booking arrangements are to be made by your Travel Agent and the person effecting the booking shall be deemed to have acceptedthe booking conditions.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL EXCURSIONSWith Trafalgar, you will enjoy many of Europe's famous highlights as included features on your tour - at no extra cost. However, there isan exciting array of additional optional excursions which we make available to further enhance your enjoyment. These tours are optional,and are offered at special preferential prices. They can only be booked once you start your tour in Europe, as many of them are carefullyprogrammed to coincide with the best highlights available at the time of your visit. A detailed list and cost of these and many moreexciting options are included in your travel documentation. You can only book and pay for them through your Travel Director, by cash,Visa and MasterCard credit cards. Service providers for the additional optional excursions are not affiliated to Trafalgar and the passengerembarks on such additional excursions at his/her own risk on the basis of the terms and conditions relating to the third party serviceprovider.

CONSUMER PROTECTIONComplaints procedure: Should you have a complaint in respect of your holiday, you should inform your Travel Director/Representativeimmediately. If the matter cannot be resolved after the Travel Director's/Representative's best endeavours to do so during the holiday,your complaint can be made in writing to your local Trafalgar office.Data protection: 1. In order to process your tour booking, Trafalgar will need to use personal information for you and other passengersincluded in your booking, which may include each passenger's name, address, phone number, email address, passport number, credit/debit card number and sensitive information such as health, medical, dietary, mobility, religious or other special requirements. Thispersonal information may be passed on to other suppliers for your travel arrangements in addition to public authorities (such as customsand immigration), security and credit checking organisations, and otherwise as required by law. Similarly, we may also need to providepersonal information to contractors who provide services to or for us (such as sending mail, processing payments, providing marketingassistance). This may involve sending personal information (including sensitive information) to other countries that may not afford thesame level of protection of personal information. 2. We may also use the personal information you provide us to review and improve thetours and services that we offer, and to contact you (by post, email and/or phone) about other tours and services offered by Trafalgarthat you may be interested in.
