- Fought for equal pay for women teachers, for coeducation, and for college training for girls
- Organized the first Women’s Temperance Association- Helped pass the first laws that women could have a
guarantee the rights over their children and their property wages
- Was President of the National Women’s Suffrage Association from 1892 to the 1900’s
- Was also arrested, tried, and sentenced to a fine that she refused to pay
