The world historically has been male dominated.

Women were considered just as a mean of glory for men.

Their duty was to get married and take care of child.

They had no say in functioning of family

They were not allowed to work or do jobs.

Current Status

2014 annual survey: proportion of women in senior roles is stuck at 24%.

Regionally, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia lead the way on women in senior management, with 37% and 35%, respectfully.

Russia has the highest proportion.

at 43%, followed closely by Lithuania and Latvia, Georgia, Armenia and Poland. 

38% of senior management roles in China are held by women.

Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand have 41%, 40% and 38%, respectively.

Developed countries have relatively fewer women in senior management.

32% women in senior management in the BRIC economies.

Japan comes in at the bottom of just 9% of senior roles are held by women, almost no change from a decade ago.

Only 4 percent of working women in India make it to senior leadership positions in the corporate sector, compared to the global average of 24 percent, as per the reports by Forbes.
