The Eleventh Annual e sion of the '\foman's Medical College willcommence on the first Tuesday of October, 1880, at 10 A. ~J., and con­tinue twenty-one weeks.

Tn making this Announcement, the Faculty are happy to state to thefriends of the medical education of women, that the class has increasedmore than one hundred per cent. during the past year. This, it seemsto us, is a sufficient guarantee that our method of admitting students tothe ollege by requiring a preliminary examination is meeting withgeneral favor, not only among those commencing the study, but amongpractitioners of medicine.

COLLEGE BUILDING.

The new ollege Building, erected three years since, is admirablyadapted to our wants. Jt is commodious, well lighted, and well venti­lated, and is supplied with every convenience for teaching. It is twoand one-half stories high with a basement; containing two lecture roomscapable of seating one hundred and fifty students; laboratory, museum,dissecting room, microscopical cabinet, parlor, etc., etc.

PRACTICAL ,,\VORIC

Anolomy.-The dissecting room is large, well lighted and well ven­tilated, and has all the conveniences for enabling the student to prosecutethe study of practical anatomy with the greatest comfort and profit.Good material is abundant and furnished at cost. The demonstratorgives his personal supervision and assistance to each student and makesfrequent demonstrations of the viscera and important regions and relation .

Pltysiolog)'.-The lectures upon this important branch will be supple­mented with the usual vivisections and by microscopical illustrations ofas many of the natural tissues as time will allow.

Chemist1y.-The practical chemical work consists of tcsts for themost common metals and acids used in medicine and urinalysis. Thechemical reactions will be required to be written out as the various sub­stances are analyzed. This written work will be considered in part anexamination. The course is eminently practical, and is a great aid tothe perfect understanding of theoretical chemistry. Students who desire

COURSE OF STUDY.

For the more systematic and thorough instruction of students, thecurriculum has been divided into Junior and Senior Courses.

The Junior Course embraces the following branches, viz.: Anatomy,Physiology, Chemistry, Materia Mcdica and Therapeutics.

The Scnior Course embraces the following branches, viz.: Pathology,Practice of Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Diseases of ""omcn andChildren, and linical instruction.

Students are advised to entcr the Junior Class, devoting their timcexclusively to its branches during the first session, and to those of theSenior lass during the second session, with such reviews as the Facultymay direct.

Students will in no case be pcrmitted to discard entirely the Juniorstudies during the last year of their coursc.

Students who have attendcd onc coursc of lectures in this or anyother regular Medical ollege, may be admitted to the Senior Class, orto thc leCtures of both classes, subject to an examination in all thebranches at the close of the session, should they pre entthem elves forgraduation.

The Faculty de,ire to give evcry posible encouragement to thegrowing tendency toward a higher medical education. To this endthey propose, so far as practicable, to assume the exclusive direction ofthe medical education of the ludent:> of the College. Student. areaccordingly advised to place themselves under the direction of theFaculty at the commencement of their tudie and continue in thatrelation during three full years (or until their graduation). They·willbe enrolled as " Faculty Studcnts," and will pursue a systematic courseof study and practical work, as the Faculty may direct. They willattend three full cour,e, of regular lectures, and the inten·ening coursesof spring and summer instruction if practicable. The Cook County General Hospital is situated dIrectly opposite theCollege. This Hospital, which has recently been erected, is one of thelarge t and best equipped in tlle country. The clinical amphitheatre,with a seating capacity of six hundred, is open to all students. Sixclinical lccturcs are delivcred every week, erobracing the followingsubjects: Surgery, Practical Medicine, ynecology, Ophthalmology andOtology. On almost every clinical day important surgical operationsare performed.

ENTRAL FREE DlSPENSARV.

This institution is located within a ingle block of the College.About eight thousand patients received treatment at this Dispensaryduring the past year. As these patients are classified according to theirclisca es, excellent opportunities are on'creel for thc study of spccialties.All students are gratuitou Iy admitted to its advantages. The institu·tion i. provided with an ampliitl1eatre, in which clinical lectures aregiven daily on Gynecology, Diseases of the Chest, Surgery, Dermatology,Disca es of hildren, Practical i\Jedicine, and Operative Dentistry.
