Packet Welcome to Sorrento Day Care!

Welcome to the Wobbler Room!

Wobbler year is full of learning! Wobblers begin to learn social/emotional skills, develop

language skills, including speaking and baby sign language, and explore circle time and

beginning academics. This is an exciting transition from infant year! Here are some tips to help

the transition:

Bottles and Pacifiers:

We allow pacifiers in the Wobbler room. We encourage the children to learn to use them only

for nap, transitioning them gently as they gain confidence in the room and their friends. We

also allow a bottle before nap if your child still needs one. This bottle is after lunch and meant

for comfort. Their nutritional needs are met by our menu.

Eating Schedule:

Wobblers are working hard on their fine motor skills. They sit together at the meal table, and

they use sippy cups and child sized eating utensils to work on grasping and holding. They also

begin to learn meal manners, such as signing “more, please”.

Our cook provides breakfast at 7:00, morning snack at 9:00, lunch at 11:00, and afternoon

snack at 2:30. All snacks and meals are prepared from scratch, and the menu is posted in the

classroom and at the front entrance.

Outside food is only permitted for parties or for food allergy/special dietary reasons. You must

discuss this ahead of time with the director. All party foods must be store bought and nut free.

The director will post a permission slip for the parents/guardians to sign for all parties and

special snacks.

Sleeping Schedule:

Wobblers take one nap a day, after lunch, from about 11:45-1:45. If your child still needs a

short morning nap, we can provide that for the first month or so as they transition. Wobblers

sleep on cots and can have blankets and a stuffed animal/lovey if you would like to provide one.

Daily Schedule:

The Wobbler room follows a flowing schedule that provides both routine and flexibility to

follow the needs and interests of the children. We do art, music, circle time, puzzles and books,

sensory play, and outdoor play. Activities are planned individually by the teacher and based on

weekly and monthly center themes. There are also holiday and classroom parties and events for

families to participate throughout the year. Remember, you are also welcome to stop by any

time to visit and see what your child is doing!

Wobbler Supplies

Here are the things you provide for your child during their day at Sorrento.

Diapers

o These are changed every two hours, or more often if needed

Wipes

Diaper cream, if needed

o Please sign the permission slip for diaper cream

Blanket

o Please take this home weekly for washing

Extra clothing

o Please have a size and seasonal appropriate set of clothing here for

your child. Spills and accidents happen.

Jacket, rain boots, and other seasonal clothing

o We play outside twice a day in almost all weather. We stay inside

only if the temperature is below 35 degrees, above 85 degrees, or

raining very hard. We go out, and have a lot of fun!, in light rain.

o During the summer, please provide sunscreen (with a signed

permission slip). Sandals are allowed with a back strap. Please bring

swim clothes on posted water days for sprinkler and water table

play!

Sorrento provides the following:

Daily reports

o We provide information regarding your child's meals, diaper checks

and changes, naps, schedule, special art or activities, etc.

Cots and sheets

o Sheets are washed twice a week unless needed
