Danville is a little over a thousand miles from Fort Worth, TX. By the time you read this letter, I will have made that trip with my dog and cat and as much of my life as it is possible to fit in a Honda Civic.

It has been said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, but my

journey, our journey, did not start when I began driving Monday morning. It started with your prayers. It started with your honest sharing about your hopes and dreams for the future. It started with the formation of a transition team who read resumes with discernment and made phone calls with holy expectation. It started as Jenny and I began to prayerfully search for a place where my calling as a pastor might intersect with our calling as a family.

As I look back over the last six months, I can see that with each video conference and visit with the transition team, each hard question answered and story told, each hug and handshake given, that the Holy Spirit was bringing us together. So much so that my family felt the ache of leaving loved ones as we drove to the airport on “Call Sunday”—Judah is still asking about his new Danville friends! None of this would have been possible without each of us having the courage to take those first steps into the wilderness, trusting that in the unknown places of interim and search, that we would meet Jesus and find the right people to walk home with.

Jesus said it just takes a little faith, faith the size of a grain of mustard for God to do great things in our lives. I am so glad for the little steps of faith that have brought us together. In worship this week we will imagine what might be possible if our faith in God and in each another increased, just a little.

“Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21) See you Sunday, Drew
