Chapter 2. Description

IBM Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights is real-time performance analysissoftware for business services.

Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights eliminates manual threshold andbaseline configuration by providing a self-learning capability. By analyzing datafrom various sources and integrating with existing monitoring products,Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights learns the normal behavior of a businessservice and creates a performance model. When Operations Analytics - PredictiveInsights predicts or detects anomalies, an alarm is generated.


Chapter 3. New features in Operations Analytics - PredictiveInsights 1.3.3

Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights 1.3.3 has the following new features:v Enhanced anomaly detection: Includes a new algorithm, based on the principles

of Robust Statistics, to reduce noise and increases the overall accuracy ofOperations Analytics - Predictive Insights anomaly detection.

v Forecasting: You can forecast metric values to better determine the impact of ananomaly. A forecast can be based on the most recent significant behavior changedetected by Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights or on the overall longterm metric trend.

v Alarm Consolidation: Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights groups alarmswith visually similar metrics to provide better context and reduce the number ofalarms visible.

v Dashboarding: A sample out of the box dashboard shows alarms by hour, topalarming nodes, and top alarming metrics. You can create additional customdashboards.

v Prerequisite scanner: Includes a prerequisite scanner to check variousinstallation prerequisites for Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights.

v KPI count: Displays the number of KPIs consumed to facilitate easier licensecompliance.

– Installation Manager 1.8.1 - is deployed when you install any OperationsAnalytics - Predictive Insights component if a version of Installation Managerhas not already been installed by another product.

There are media items provided with Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights,which are not required to complete an installation of Operations Analytics -Predictive Insights, but are provided to allow for the enablement of advancedcomponent features. The media items are:v IBM WebSphere Application Server V8.5 Supplements: These are provided to

enable advanced Jazz for Service Management administration. The IBMWebSphere Application Server V8.5 Supplements are not required in order toinstall a functioning Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights Insights system.Please refer to Jazz for Service Management documentation for information ontheir use.

v Netcool/OMNIbus Gateway for SNMP: This is provided to allow forwarding ofalarms from OMNIbus to another event management system. TheNetcool/OMNIbus Gateway for SNMP is not required in order to install afunctioning Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights Insights system. Pleaserefer to OMNIbus documentation for information on its use.


Chapter 6. Prepare your system for installation of OperationsAnalytics - Predictive Insights

Instructions on how to obtain the software that is required for OperationsAnalytics - Predictive Insights installation and how to perform the general tasksthat are required before you can begin installation.

To ensure that all RPMs are at the required version, run the Prerequisite Scannerfor Operations Analytics - Predictive Insights on each target server.
