The Art of Reading Faces provides us with a good opportunity to make our life more interesting and exciting. Face reading is the most natural thing we do. We unconsciously feel an attraction or a caution when confronted by someone new. Why not learn to recognise people consciously? We can then be more precise and get the best out of every situation. Learn to read what the soul is communicating energetically through the chakra systems of the face and body. Your face and its overall structure and shape reflect all your thoughts and desires. Your bone structure is the blueprint of your soul’s purpose. How that bone structure fills out reflects the expression and suppression of your innermost feelings.

The Face is the Autobiography of Life:

the structure and shape indicates performance eyebrows – communication forehead – the frame of mind eyes – a point of view nose – the personality knows ear – listening carefully

cheeks & cheekbones – ambition lines of development – tell-tale lines chin and jaw – vitality and foundation lips – the taste for life facial hair – grounding and sensitivity

Face Reading teaches you all the facts that written psychological tests cannot. You will know how to assess the make-up of the potential of a person accurately. This is an essential diagnostic tool in many areas of life:

Human Resource Professionals ~ Salespeople ~ Public Relations Personnel ~ Consultants Therapists ~ Counsellors ~ Teachers ~ Nurses ~ Parents

Learn to know your family, friends and colleagues

Knowing a person’s Personality Potential will enhance:

• sales performance • negotiating skills • interviewing • team building

• improve relationships • job interviews • leading seminars • staff interaction • management skills • business relationships • understanding audience reaction

Communication is the KeyIn every part of the world there has been a phenomenal growth and progress in almost every field of human endeavour. The creative mind is stimulated by every type of new information available to it. This global internet now, continues to double the web of communication each day. Just a decade ago very few of us could even imagine the technology we use today. These quantum leaps of continuing progress, facilitated by the instant availability of information, is constantly being assimilated and improved upon as if our very survival depended on it. Communication is the key factor. Yes, so it is. Our very survival in this world depends on keeping up with this process of Quickening, constantly being aware of what is happening out there to be in this human race. Most often, when we are so caught up in this maze of changing information around us we forget our internal sensory communication systems. We then loose touch with ourselves and those around us. This leaves us cool and unaware of our own bodies and of everybody else.

Body Mind Communication has become a prerequisite for any further improvement in relationships with ourselves and others, to keep pace with this changing world. The purpose of this is to recognise, understand and respond to ourselves and others immediately at the moment of contact. We understand a longtime friend very well yet we take so long to accept and understand someone we have met for the first time. It is only our resistance, insecurity or lack of attention that separates us from reading the language that their bodymind is communicating to us.

Let us face the facts that I am so pleased to recognise the face of a friend I have not met in years, amongst a group of strangers in a foreign country; that friendly face that suddenly jumps out amongst all the other faceless ones. Are not all the others as much human beings also worthy of equal recognition and understanding? It is so nurturing to look into the eyes of a person you have never met before with a warm smile of recognition. It sometimes comes like a shock to them to be worthy of the notice.

The Art of Reading Faces creates an atmosphere of comfort, acceptance and understanding at a subconscious level between the observed and the observer, an attitude of “I know you so well it is so good to meet again.”.

Those soft, warm brown eyes, or steely grey cold look; the rugged square jaw or the sensitive chin;the furrowed thoughtful brow or the bland colourless poker face;

those sensuously full lips with an inviting smile or the thin tight bitterness of the taste of life;that honest bold and steady gaze or the shifty or suspicious look.

All tell their own story that can make all the difference in a relationship, a business proposition or just understanding your potential more. Each body communicates with the other body subconsciously and intuitively whether we are aware of it or not. It is good to be aware of what they are sensing of each other.

The systematic step by step study of the structure of the Face and each of it’s separate parts bring together all the characteristics of the individual, creating a case history.

In the most honest way the face says, “This is what I am, understand me and accept me in the only way I know how at this point of time. I am here to share this world with you as you do. There are very few that have ever looked at me as closely and with the interest and understanding that you do. For this I thank you, for being my friend, for even those that have been with me for many years have not cared to notice me so closely.”This is the kindest act you can do for someone you have never met before. There are many more like this.

Structure = PerformanceThe Overall Face Structure and Shape gives us a quick indication of the personality type in general. The structure of the face is particularly suited for the relevant performance; it is like the blue print while the fleshing out and the individual parts give the distinguishing characteristics and personality to the face.1 Focus on what is in front of you.2 Accept it for what it is showing you, don’t analyse your opinions of it 3 Let your experience be your sensory response to their sensory expression. Some Basic Principles apply that appropriately indicate specific Characteristics.

Easy going, happy, very sensitive, easily influenced, nurturing, affectionate and emotional.

Feminine sensitivity and softness, flexible, idealistic, warm, affectionate, caring for others and their point of view. Solid, basic, down to earth, resolute, practical, less imaginative, a doer rather than a thinker with a strong earthy passion. High ideals, humanitarian, with an intellectual drive to represent these in life with the strength and the determination to stand up for them. Supportive and reliable with mental and emotional balance.

Resolute, stubborn, unreasonable, introverted, closed-minded. This one tends to be introverted and closed minded with some frustration and suppressed anger. With a high intellectual, very sensitive, quick and open-mind this one can be easily upset when misunderstood, needs grounding.

Combination of the basic types. Most faces will have a varying degrees of mixtures of the above basic types in their structure.

Straight forward, practical, black/white, inflexible.

Flexibile, open to change, softness, appreciative. Supportive, strength, power, determination.

Descending, depressing, sadness, uncooperative.

Suppression, focus, mental control, frustration.

Rising-uplifting, power, happiness, hope.

Bearing these telltale lines and shapes in mind, while observing the separate parts of the face, you get valuable information of the personality and habitual behaviour of the person. A cartoonist may use these very graphically to identify the character of an individual.

Overall Face ShapesThe structure of the overall face shapes are the blueprint of the soul’s particular characteristics for it’s performance. The proportion of percentages of the mental, emotional and physical gives a broad view of the personality type. The study of the separate parts and the fleshing out of the structure gives greater details of the expression of it’s personality.

Some of the principal face shapes each identified with the different planets and relevant elements, can be used as a general guide to assess the characteristics within the face.

The Diagrams of the Three Zones & the Body in the Face show how the various parts of the psychosomatic responses are represented in the face, that expresses or suppresses all our thoughts, feelings and emotional tension. We can also see the individual energy centre or chakra function.

Fleshing Out The Framework

The Face is the centre of the five senses. With 27 major muscles at work constantly acting and reacting to life and everything the bodymind is experiencing and expressing, we create a face that is unique and individual. This face shows the world who we are. We call this our personality.

COMMOn CHARACTeRiSTiCS OF THe BASiC FACe SHAPeSApollo ~ Sun Fire The wide jaw and pointed forehead gives this one the characteristics of a fierypersonality. This one could have ambition and drive but the lack of patience and the aggressive nature can create an exaggerated need for control. The quick temper can be readily expressed verbally and physically when disobeyed. He can be charming and pleasant when it suits him, backing the one that most suits his needs yet nasty when his demands are not met. The energy is strong in his lower energy centres. With a somewhat closed mind, he has ambition and drive, can be highly sexed and stubborn.

Jupiter ~ etherDignified and pleasant, this one has high ideals with the determination and strength to stand up for them. He is thoughtful, has great vision and the desire to uphold the law and the rights of others. With a high intellect he is born to rise to high positions. The qualities of thoughtfulness, optimism, strong ideals and unshakable fixity of purpose gains this one many friends and their love and respect. He needs to be aware of the possibility of these good qualities effecting the pride and the ego.

neptune ~ Moon ~ WaterWarm, affectionate, easy going, gentle, friendly and ready to help those in need, this round face person has a changeable nature. He can get easily bored, needs plenty of encouragement, avoids hard work and takes the line of least resistance, that could turn towards sluggishness. His physique usually tends towards chubbiness or excess weight. Due to the emotional sensitivity and the desire to be gentle to those on the outside, his psychosomatic response tends to hold the emotion and the tension which is deeply buried under the soft outer desensitised tissue.

Mars ~ earthThe Mars temperament signifies high energy, vitality and an aggressive earthy personality. This one is practical and well grounded, a doer rather than a thinker. The forehead can tend to be wide but narrow, with a strong muscular body and good health, he tends to shoot first and ask questions afterwards, yet soon forgives and forgets. He has a sociable nature and a love for the opposite sex and is happy with his loved ones and unhappy when alone. His inner strength can be vulnerable, especially when left to his own devices, due to his melancholic temperament. The psychosomatic response is a muscular armouring covering a very sensitive emotional nature.

Fleshing Out The Framework cont.

Venus ~ WaterThis oval face is typically feminine, with a roundness and softness in all or most features. She has a warm, affectionate, outgoing and upbeat personality, she likes other people, enjoys company and thinks the best of them. Creative by nature she could indulge in the fine arts with an active and varied social life. Her high ideals and flexibility creates a very likeable personality, with an outer softness covering an inner strength and good intuition. Romantic and nurturing by nature her family can fill an important space in her life. She can be too trusting and can fall victim to those who can readily take advantage of her desire to please others.

Mercury ~ AirThe mercury personality is bright and cheerful. With her high mental and nervous energy, knowledge, status and power are important. She has a talent for teaching and organising others. With her quick wit and persuasive tongue, she loves talking, arguing and meeting people. The wide forehead and pointed chin shows a high mental capacity and lack of grounding. This can create a degree of nervousness, physical stress and hyperactivity. The psychosomatic response to this is a light and well proportioned body that has some difficulty in relaxing and keeping still. This physical restlessness is matched by the overactive mind which is endlessly thinking, worrying or absorbing information. Though she is ambitious and enjoys meeting people, she tends to avoid emotional closeness and may have only a few close friends.

Saturn ~ Fire ~ earthThe Saturn personality is easily recognised by the wide tight jaw, boney angular structure of the cheekbones, with some depression around the temples and a high but narrow forehead. This structure is the result of the suppression of the emotions creating a sense of loneliness. The strong earthy energy is contained and suppressed psychosomatically creating an internal fire. He likes to be alone with his thoughts and lacks the warmth and desire to share with others. Instinctively careful and cautious, with an innate shyness, he may find it difficult to find a mate as he feels frustrated and misunderstood. He may enjoy pondering deep seated ideas that may be interesting and original.

Uranus ~ Water ~ etherThe Uranus personality has a very strong mind, coupled with an understanding, emotional and sensitive nature. The sensitivity and flexibility is a powerful combination that can make her very successful in business and monetary endeavours. The special understanding of people and their needs makes her a people person, good at counselling and negotiation. The mental and emotional combination gives her the versatility to relate to a large spectrum of the population. The self awareness of the high degree of energy of these qualities needs to be delicately balanced for optimum success.

Pluto ~ Water ~ AirThe high emotional sensitivity of the Pluto personality is in a delicate balance with a need for grounding. Her loving and caring nature can be upset when she is not understood by others. Rather than stand her ground, she feels the need to avoid dealing with emotional issues by resorting to reason instead of action. She may find it difficult to verbalise this internal processing. The psychic sensitivity is enhanced by the finer qualities that she constantly aspires to. This can often lead her to altered states of consciousness.

In all faces observe the left- emotional or soul & right - mental or personality sections of the features and compare the details of the separate parts.

THe FOReHeAD:

The height of the forehead shows the degree of intelligence. The width, the breadth of view, shows degree of understanding. A narrow or broad-minded person.Note the three regions, observation, memory, imagination, their development, pronounced or receding. Note the forehead’s slope in profile.1 if the forehead is Straight Up the person likes and needs detail to make decisions and is more imaginative.

2 One with a Sloping Forehead is much quicker to make decisions and does not like detail because of their quick observations and assessment.

3 If the central dome is protruding the person has good long term memory recall.

Ideal Eyebrows

eYeBROWS :The eyebrows signify your emotional type and the degree of understanding between your head and your heart. They are the creators or suppressors of expression and a point of view. They ideally should be in balance with the rest of the face moderately spaced apart, a gently curving arch above each eye, thickest in the beginning gradually thinning towards the edgeof the face. They should be the same colour as the hair and grow evenly, slope along the axis of the eyebrow pointing away from the midline.

1 Boomerang - independence, strength of will, like their own way and want to get ahead. These qualities are more pronounced when the angle is sharper. This can be an acuity in observation.

2 Low-Set eyebrows- symbolises an unnaturally prudent and calculating nature, a hesitant and insecure mind. He may have a restricted point of view.

3 Very High-Set eyebrow - Shows a devil may-care attitude, temporary gains but possible disappointment as she can be too trusting or open-minded.

4 Straight eyebrow indicate a practical, forthright rather unimaginative person difficult to change views, likes to stick to facts and get on with the job.

5 Sloping Upwards from Midline - shows a selfish egotistical person, wants his own way and believes he is right. Spite, anger, pigheadedness can carry him far if he can deliver the goods.

6 Curve Downwards - shy not very capable individual, fear and lack of confidence make it difficult to get ahead in the world.

7 eyebrows Hairs Growing Upwards - signify a brave and resolute person, ready to accept challenges. The restless energy makes it hard to live a quiet life and he gets boredeasily.

8 When Hairs Grow Downwards they show a lack of energy and confidence.

9 Thin eyebrows - lack of inner sparkle and resolution, and direction of purpose.

10 Thick Bushy eyebrows on the other hand show an irritable and aggressive nature, more so if the hairs grow in different directions.

11 Joined eyebrows are combatitive, uncontrolled, competitive and short tempered due to the blocked energy coming up from the solar plexus and not being expressed vocally.

eYeS:The eyes represent the deeper, inner feelings of the personality, the feelings of the heart. The right eye the physical personality and the left eye the soul quality. Balance, size, equality, level, shine and glitter or glaze, steadiness of the gaze, are all important factors to consider in this very sensitive part of the face. It is the point of focus of the Body-Mind as a whole, its expression and impressions of the world.

1 iRiSeS Floating irises, Sanpaku, or three whites is a sign of stress and is exaggerated when the whites show above and below the iris. They show an unstable and negative character, spiritually unstable and a danger to himself and others. When the irises sink too low they show a perverse and cruel nature, one that is lonely and unhappy.

2 eYe SeT - Distance Apart a) Well Apart, at the distance of one eye-length between the eyes show a good balance of what is represented. When wider a lessening of mental quickness and agility, when too wide low mental capacity. b) When Set Too Close together there is a narrowing of view, suspicion, lack of warmth, a feeling of one that cannot be trusted and has few friends.

3 Size OF eYeS a) Large eyes show a bold, responsible and commanding nature or artistic talents. b) Small eyes - cautious and less outgoing, one who prefers thinking to doing. Enjoys challenges and prefers working alone. A researcher, analyst or theorist you can be demanding and shrewish but loyal to the family.

4 eYe SeT a) Deep Set eyes show caution and a restricted point of view, careful about expressing your own heartfelt feelings. This is more so when one has overhanging brows. This one reasons with the emotions before speaking.

b) Protruding eyes, without the whites showing above or below, show you can be accepting of others point of view and may be misled. Due to the increased range of vision this one can be distracted and not centred. When the whites are showing all around you can be in a nervous and excitable condition with the possibility of violence and temper.

5 eYe LeVeL Eye levels are distinguished by the horizontal line drawn from the inner to the outer edge of each eye. Eyes should also be level with each other in the face. They define the level of the individual’s point of view and balanced perception of the world. a) Slope upwards from the midline: The sign of a proud, self important person who wants to make the most of life, out going, energetic and ready to take risks. b) Slope downwards: Decency, generosity, good natured, ready to believe any hardluck story, a constant heart and likes a lasting relationship.

The Eyes and The Nose PSCHO2 page 10

eYeS cont.

6 eYe COLOUR a) Brown - Black: Brown shows warmth, openness, extrovert, excitability, less sensitive to pain. The darker the colour the deeper the passion and a lessening of warmth and sensitivity. b) Hazel: Warmth, sensitivity with greater intellectual vigour. c) Blue: From deep sapphire to a washed-out blue. The lighter the colour the less passion and compassion; the pale blue being cool and calculating. Blue eyes signify a calmer quieter person than the brown-eyed one; also more conservative and understanding. d) Green: Courageous, daring cheerful, clever and inventive. e) Grey: Those who are emotionally controlled and need to think long and hard before committing themselves.

THe nOSe:

The balanced nose has an equal length to the upper and lower zones, a straight bridge, a rounded fleshy tip, well shaped flared wings and nostrils that cannot be seen when viewed from the front. This nose signifies qualities of honesty, truthfulness, loyalty, healthy sex drive, an optimistic outlook and a sound view of themselves and their abilities.

1 a) Long nose tends to be snobbish and unduly proud yet scornful of others, stiffer mannerisms. They tend to look down their noses at lesser people. b) The Long narrow nose is witty and engaging but is more shadow than substance.

2 Broad nose - is a sign of stability and purpose, better concentration and staying power and success, the width should be concentrated in the lower half of the nose.3 Short noses show less strength and determination, a freer, less responsible, person who enjoys a good time. They have an emotional sensitivity that can feel vulnerable and a lack of personal power.

4 Snub nose turns up at it’s end so the nostrils are visible, this signifies a happy-go-lucky and somewhat irresponsible person who has difficulty in saving money and making ends meet. 5 Large exposed nostrils can be indicative of loose morals, aversion to work and a love for gambling.

6 Turned down tip of the nose belongs to a strongly sexed person. Insistent and demanding his own personal needs. The degree of tip tilt, fleshiness accentuates the above characteristics. The tip may point to creativity rather than sexuality.

Shape of the nostrils a) Flattened wings and narrowed nostrils show poor money sense and find money hard to acquire, while those with large nostrils are financially careless and let money slip through their fingers. b) Small nostrils are careful and steady with money. c) Square nostrils conservative, thick-skinned and determined.

The nose whatever it’s shape and angle is effected by its fleshiness with good income and skill in business, honesty and dependability. The breathing pattern, vitality and emotional ease is seen in the balance, shape and condition of the nose.

The Ears, Mouth and Lips

THe eARS:

When the ear occupies the mid-zone,there an even distribution of energy, long enough to connect with the mental, emotional and physical realms. When the ear lobes are long and fleshy they are expressing a great deal of emotional sensitivity, intellect and spiritual quality.

a) When the top of the ears are rounded they indicate an open and enthusiastic nature, who can be very flexible and has an emotional understanding of others.b) When the top of the ear is pointed this indicates a person who is more demanding of others, as the ears point to the mental zone this person tends to listen to the mind rather than the emotions.c) When the top of the ear is flattened it indicates a more controlled person, who functions best in a settled and controlled environment. d) When they stick out they indicate a difficult childhood. The range of hearing is also restricted and the person listens to what he wants to. When this is supported by good facial features this awareness of early trauma can be an added strength.

THe MOUTH AnD LiPS:

The mouth is the most mobile part of the face: it speaks, feeds, expresses or suppresses thoughts, emotions and sexuality. A well balanced mouth should be moderate in size, full and well-shaped. Each lip should be of equal thickness, fit well together and are firm and soft. This signifies a warm, honest, caring yet open nature, with a strong character and purpose. The Top Lip and it’s Fullness shows the degree of Sexuality and Sensuality ~ Hot LipsThe Bottom Lip shows the freedom of vocal expression ~ Tight Lipped

1 Large mouth - outgoing, extrovert, open, generous, attracting attention and popularity. They can have a weakness of resolve or speak too loosely.

2 Small mouth - introverted, careful and cautious, lack of confidence, suspicious, avoids company and spending money.

3 Thin lips - lack warmth and genuine sympathy for others, has an inferiority complex, few close relationships, can be lonely, unbalanced and cruel in nature; see degree of thinness. Thin lips curved down at the corners - lonely, bitter, hard and tight-lipped withsuppressed grief.

4 Lips in a straight line - careful calculating, with an orderly mind that interferes with the emotional responses. When this straight line is uneven there is a tendency to be uptight, impulsive, troubled and misunderstood.

5 even upward curving line - persuasive, outgoing, creative, scheming, but with close family ties and wealth.

6 Point of Sensitivity when prominent on the top lip is a indication of a high degree of sensual and sexual sensitivity.

7 Point of Refinement on the top lip creates a bow giving a fullness and high degree of intuitive and nurturing capacity. This one can also be academically eminent, creative and artistic.

JAW, CHin and CHeeK BOneS: The strength of the jaw, chin and cheekbones give the above characteristics of the personality foundation and grounding. The chin signifies the will power, need for love, security and good health late into life. The chin should be broad deep and full, showing generosity, physical strength and emotional warmth.

1 Weak receding chin is either too narrow, too pointed or lacks support and determination to keep the person on his path.

2 Broad chin jutting forward shows extra sense of determination often to his own detriment, or of others and at the risk of some of his own emotional insecurity. A stick your neck out attitude.

3 Wide jaw shows great strength and energy of will, this too, as above, may be so by sacrificing emotional needs dominated by a strong mind. The jaw will then show a lot of tension.

4 Deep jaw when viewed from the side also shows great strength of will, a resolute and determined nature with an ability to achieve, which can be ruthless.

5 Curved jawbone shows a weak-willed or flexible person sometimes lacking in direction and purpose.

6 High cheekbones well covered shows a power of command and will attain authority in a fair and noble way, but if it is bony and highly visible you will use your power without sensitivity. 7 High flat cheekbones suggest power of command without authority, those academically eminent.

CROW’S FeeT1 Curving upward - good luck and a fortunate sign when early in life.2 Curving downward - unfortunate sign work and business difficulties.3 Crossing lines - argumentative and unwilling to take advice.

FOReHeAD LineSA forehead without creases lacks character. As each line represents the characteristics of an astrological sign when there are too many they can create a negative effect. They are positive when they are long, unbroken and dip a little in the middle. Three lines are the best balance.
