PUBLISHER’S NOTE

Wisdom Buds are 7 in number in thisBook-let. They are called forth by thosewho seek wisdom from the author whoprefers to be called as the composer, for, according to him:

“ALL BELONG TO WISDOM -WISDOM BELONGS TO LIGHT.”

Sri Parvathi Kumar’s talks, teachingsand writings are sought by many groupsin 4 Continents. From time to time hekeeps touring, teaching, talking andwriting Wisdom at the request of thosewho seek through him.

The Composer names these 7 talks as“WISDOM BUDS”. These Buds accordingto him unfold within the being as brilliantlotuses when contemplated upon.

“THE NEW AGE TEACHER” is themodem replica of the ancient teacher. Inthis modern time Where there are manyself-styled teachers in the field, SriParvathi Kumar renders out the way torecognise the Teacher. The teacher is onewho administers the teaching as the wayof life. Wisdom Teaching is not avocation. It is an under-current of life andhas to be lived by. Teaching withoutdemonstration reduces it to preaching. Aclear distinction can be drawn betweenthe Teacher and the Preacher through thestudy of NEW AGE TEACHER.

There is much expectancy all over theWestern Block about “THE RETURN OFCHRIST”. When asked to spell out hisunderstanding of Christ’s return, SriParvathi Kumar gave out that the Christalready started returning in the AquarianWay (A Novel Way of Reappearance).

Page 6: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

“THE PRINCIPAL TEACHINGS OFKRISHNA” was a talk rendered in 1990spontaneously to a Group of Youngsterscoming from Europe. The teachings ofKrishna are valid for all times to come. Afew important teachings of Krishna areenumerated in this talk.

“THE PATH OF GRADUALUNFOLDMENT” is an account ofsystematised approach for Self un-foldment which one can directly applyupon himself and verify the truth of it.

“UPANAYANAM & MARRIAGE” -The Vedic Sacraments are now receivinggreat attention in the West. Western TruthSeekers are evincing keen interest tounderstand the importance of theseSacraments. In fact, Sri Parvathi Kumarat the request of Western Brotherhood

THE WHITE ISLAND

The White island is beautiful inQuality and in form. It carries the divinebrilliance and splendour. It is everilluminative, eternal and perpetual. Thevery thought of the White Island makesone stable and pleasant. The vision of theIsland destroys once and for all the cycleof death and birth. The residents of theisland live with bodies of radiating light. They are ever engaged in uttering thesacred word that guards the worlds. Therays of Love and Light form the brick andmortar of the residences in the Island. Thehuman brow centre is a replica of thissacred land. In this land, the residents andthe residences have no difference inidentity.

Page 10: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

10

The residents of the White Island arecompetent and hence are not desirous. Thefruit of contentment is enjoyed as aconsequence of their desirelessness.Although they are desireless they haveplenty and are not empty. Liberation istheir way of life. They experience theworld of forms as their own forms andcarry the thought of no-other. Othersdesire and hence they experienceemptiness - lack of that which is desired.

The Lord of the most high shines forthin purity and poise endlessly, untouchedby the hyper and hypo activity. Thegardens, the parks and the pathways carrythe splendour of the mercurial green lightcoupled with the tinge of orange (Sree)the glow of the golden hew with theelectrical blue centre and circumference(Ha) and the warmth of the Nature Divine(Ri)

Page 11: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

11

The glorious White Island is not aplace or a plane to be ascended. Whereverone is, it manifests when one gains‘identity of himself with that of thesurrounding’. It is hidden within thewhole World as the latter’s ‘blue-print’and is the ‘basis brilliant’ of the worldsthat are built up.

The sound and the light are in totalunity in this Island inter-laced in theirfunction. “The voice of Silence” is everheard in all sounds and the body of Lightis ever perceived in all forms. The Islandis ever protective when thought of. Evenwhen the worlds go upside down, thesacred island remains untouched.

The reality of “One in all” and “All inOne” is fully manifest in this Island. Thepair of subjectivity and objectivity

Page 12: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

12

culminate into existence in its centre, whilethey co-operate within the island. Theother name for this island is “The Land ofWelfare and Well being”.

The trees in the Island are seasonedfor all seasons. They sanction fruits ofexperience that call forth the end ofdesires. They are called “the trees ofProgeny”. They give fruits throughout the12 months and the six seasons and thusperpetuate creation. They bestow .growthand spread fulfillment to those who takeshelter under them. Other trues have noplace in the Island.

The stunning beauty of Time isexperienced in the White Island. The Timeis eternal present, devoid of future andpast in the mysterious land. The residentslive in eternal present. They have no past

Page 13: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

13

memory and future expectations. The pastand the future culminate in the present. Itis a state of being where memory is notand expectation is not.

The flowers of the gardens spread thefragrance of the Present. The blessedresidents inhale the fragrance andexperience the nectar as the honeysecreting from the flowers.

Filled and choked with the experienceof the eternal present, the residentsimmerse in uttering forth the story of the“eight syllabled one” (Narayana/Christna). The sacred utterances utterforth themselves through them while theyare in the state of pure experience. Thefeeling that they are experiencing also fallsoff. When they feel that they areexperiencing the 8 syllabled one, they fall

Page 14: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

14

off. When the feeling falls off they remainin experience!

The beings of the Island fly. Theirbodies, made up of the fabric of light, formtheir vehicles of flight. The measurementsof their bodies are beyond measuring. They expand and contract.

They grow lighter and heavier. Theyare elastic like plastic and transparent likeglass. For them there is no differencebetween their bodies and the plane of theirexistence. The bodies are just vehicles tofacilitate their contemplation upon thePlan - the other name for the Lord.

The birds of the Island sound forthmusical notes of life. The rhythmicunfoldment of the music seem to balancethe involutionary and evolutionary seedsounds of Ham and Som.

The male and female move in couplesas friends and are not suffered by lust. The cupid fears intimidating their state oftogetherness in friendship - a perfect stateof Yoga.

Those who are indifferent to theUniversal consciousness and its Oneness, those who are interested in other things, those whose ears have inclination to listento criticism, those who are impure inmind, in senses and in body have no placein this Island.

Even those who are self disciplinedand well versed in the scripturalknowledge of Universal Self also miss thisisland on account of their estimates aboutthemselves. Those who estimate others areunfit to be in the island. And those whoestimate themselves are also unfit because

Page 16: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

16

they are stuck in their personalities. Manywell-meaning scholarly people are stuckbecause of their interest in theirpersonalities. The island belongs to thosewho are concerned of the unhappy andthe needy people. In the latter, they seethe manifestation of the one consciousnessas no different from them and thereforework for them, without feeling that theyare working. This is due to theirrealisation of oneness. When one scratchesthe left hand with the right can it be saidthat the right hand rendered great serviceto the left? You feel it so natural aphenomena that you do not ever think ofit. The residents of White Island toofunction in this fashion. Conversely allthose who function in this manner belongto the White Island.

Until the learned see the ONE in the

Page 17: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

17

heathen, the learned have no entrance intothe Island.

The White Island is like a White Lotusin shape and carries structures that havepyramids as peaks and unfolding lotusesas bases. In the Centre of the Island thereis a circular pericarp. Upon it rests a five-hooded serpent - coiled and with thehoods unfolded. Within the circular spaceof the coils exists the electric blue thatwhich is eternal and endless.

The entrance of the island is wellguarded by two dwellers on either sideof the threshold. They do not permitentrance when seen!

THE NEW AGE TEACHER

The New Age Teacher is one whotakes to modern life and proceeds todemonstrate how that life can be liveddivinely. There are no divine and non-divine vocations. It is the attitude ofservice while in a vocation that makes iteither divine or diabolical. Business, profession, even politics are no bar to aNew Age Teacher. He demonstrates howsuch business, profession or vocation canbe handled from a divine angle.

Traditionally certain forms ofvocations are consigned as the avenuesofspiritualists. A New Age Teacher walksfree with divine Will in every area ofoperation and hence does not limit himselfto the traditional placements such as

Page 19: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

19

teacher or healer. He remains a teacherand a healer in spirit though not in form.

He expresses the highest ideal ofmarriage and demonstrates the principlethat underlies the perpetuation of the raceof men. Family is the fundamental schoolthat teaches co operation, co-ordination,responsibility, sharing and distribution. Aman who lives for himself is taughtpractical lessons to live for others too. There is much scope for adjustment ofviews and view points. Man is made tolearn adjustibility and adaptabilitythrough family life. Family life also givesexperience of Love Man grows into groupconsciousness from separative individualconsciousness. Following the elders, befriending the co-bom and guiding theyoungsters become a natural process. Inshort all spiritual values can be well learnt

Page 20: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

20

in a natural and normal atmosphere. TheNew Age Teacher demonstrates thesevalues. He also demonstrates how thebiological instinct of sex can be beneficiallyput to use by profering good bodies toincarnating souls.

“Stand free while surrounded” is the10 principle of New Age Teacher whenhe works in family life. He is not boundby the bondages of the family. He mayallow others to cling to him in family buthe does not cling to them. He loves andhe is loved in the family. There are noestrangements, animosities, discord andthe like. At the same time he suffers notthe pride of the pedigree of family. He isapparently attached but remains detachedin his being. He is seemingly dependantbut is independant. His style mocks thosewho abandon families in the name of

Page 21: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

21

service and in the name of spiritualpractice. He stands for practicalspiritualism as opposed to speculativeidealism.

He participates with the felicity insocial functions and generally remains avital factor in society, influencingpositively the minds of those men whomatter in the society. He remains wellconnected through goodwill to the leadingmen of the society and affectionatelyspreads his magnetic thoughts into theirindividual spheres of activity. He revealsto those men of society, a higherdimension in their respective vocations, therelby stimulating their effectiveness inthe vocations. Doctors, lawyers, officials, journalists, businessmen, the sick, the poor- all those who come in touch with theNew Age Teacher, feel inspired and

Page 22: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

22

healed in the esoteric sense though not atthe superficial layers.

He stuns the logic of the intellectualsand makes them reorient their logic. Hedistills the emotions of those who polariseto adoration of a form. He suppliesintellect to those who are deficient of itand neutralises the extra intellect to thoseto whom such excessive intellect is ahindrance. He subtly guides all those whotouch him in his life.

He heals and he teaches but subtly. He does not remain a self-styled Teacheror Healer, but carries out the age oldsacred work of healing and teachingthrough hints sometimes and throughdemonstration at all times.

He maintains a vocation to liveby anddoes not make use of the occult sciences

Page 23: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

23

for his livelihood. Teaching ‘andpracticing occult sciences for money isstrictly absent in his life. He allows thesciences to flow through with-no tinge ofcommercialism attached thereto.Eventually if money pours in, hescrupulously diverts it to the activity ofgoodwill.

In every walk of life, he is natural, normal, temperate. He does not exhibitanything special in his gestures, speechesand actions. His way of life is a flowingstream that soothens others and at no costdisturbs others either physically oremotionally or even mentally. His actionsand speeches do not arouse excitementsor sensations. He keeps his personalityhidden and projects the soul through thepersonality to reach out others.

Page 24: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

24

The New Age Teacher does not pitchupon others’ personalities. He functionsas Soul with Souls. He is least interestedin reality, in the personality affairs ofothers. He nevertheless guides even atpersonality level, when sought to, by hisassociates. He does not encroach upon orenter into the private thoughts of thosewho surround him. He lives free andallows others to live free. There are nostring? attached, no holds and no bars too!“Freedom with responsibility” is thewatchword around Him. .

He forgets not himself but forgetsabout himself. He remains keenlyinterested in helping unhappy beingsaround him. He does not speak of hispersonality as it does not exist to him. Heremains silent to criticism and judgementsmade upon him. He promotes goodwill

Page 25: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

25

all around and intelligently discourageshis personality worship by others. Hegradually directs all worship to the ONEDivine Energy and ceases to exist betweenthe worshipper and the worshipped. Heremains a guiding light and gives wayfor Light to those who seek. He functionsas transparent intermediary that does notallow its presence. Like the space inbetween two objects, which is not felt heis not felt more. Linking up is his method.Having linked the soul to the Super Soulhe departs to yetanother case. He doesnot live by his attainments, his name andhis fame. He walks alone unmindful ofall that surrounds.

Statements and utterences made byhim warrant deep consideration andintense attention, for he is suggestive inhis speech and never dictatorial. He

Page 26: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

26

respects others’ freedom and hence doesnot infringe upon it even at the thoughtplane. Imposition of his views uponothers, is totally prohibitive to him, as helives in tune with the Law of Nature.

He demonstrates how all life is OneLife. Indeed he walks upon earth sonormal that he escapes notice of the busyworld. He builds no ashrams on thephysical plane nor does he live aloof ofbusy life. He is the mobile ashram andenables development of such ashrams inthose that surround Him.

MAY CHRIST RETURN TO EARTH

CHRIST (is the Principle of Love and)belongs to humanity, to the world of menand not only to the churches and faithsthroughout the world. CHRIST is in us asHe was in Master .Jesus. The difference isin the degree of His presence. The moreman allows, the greater CHRIST functionsthrough. The technique is deep concernfor fellow unhappy beings. The methodis extension of a skillful hand alleviatesuch beings.

The other name of CHRIST issymbolically the return of humanity to thepath of righteousness. The East iscomparatively more compassionate andyet less effective than the West. The Westswayed and sweeped even the East during

Page 28: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

28

the past 200 to 300 years. But at the endof this century, the West started thoughnot in a significant way, looking towardsEast, where life is understood assomething more than sheer competition,as an invaluable gift of Nature to beexperienced in a spirit of co-operation asopposed to competition. Man is graduallyrealising the stupidity of falling into a madrace for accumulation of money andpower and is learning to turn away fromthese two shadows of his own self.

There is dawning upon the awakeningConsciousness ofhumanitythe greatparallaling truth that God pervades allforms, conditions from within allkingdoms of Nature and expresses innatedivinity through human beings. God theTranscendent (greater, vaster and moreinclusive than the heads of the ologians)

Page 29: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

29

is universally recognised and is generallyemphasised. The truth that He created theWorld and stood by it is more understoodnow than in the preceding centuries. ThatGod is not a person but can functionthrough human agency is welldemonstrated and hence is wellrecognised in the East and is now beingrealised by the West. That every humanbeing has the potency to become a “Sonof God” through systematic practice ofcertain life principles is a repeatedlydemonstrated truth. Limiting God to aname and a form, looking to Him in aplace and at a time is nothing but man’slimitation imposed upon God out of theformer’s sheer ignorance.

This awakening enables return ofChrist-Principle among human beings.

Page 30: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

30

CHRIST taught that the Kingdom ofGod is on Earth and told as to seek thatKingdom first and let all things go for itssake. That kingdom has ever been withus, composed of all those who, down theages have sought spiritual goals, liberatedthemselves from the limitations of thephysical body, emotional controls andobstructive mind. Its citizens are to-dayliving in physical bodies working for thewelfare of humanity. They use LOVE astheir technique assisted by Will andintelligent activity. They will, they dare, they risk and yet they remain silent. Theyare not the emotional devotees nor theimpractical idealists. They are the NewAge Teachers that teach throughdemonstration, not through mere spokenword. They are a great body of“ILLUMINATED MINDS” working

Page 31: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

31

actively in all walks of Life, includingpolitics and science. It is they who arerealising the Kingdom of God and sharingtheir fruits of labour with those who areinclined to work in line with the age-oldprinciples of love, compassion and co-operation. This great body is functioningeffectively, averting wars, catastrophiesand human crisis and is rapidlydemanding the attention of many inhumanity. It is an organised body, whichis already evoking recognition frompeople who are open minded andunbiased.

The idea of return of CHRIST is a mostfamiliar one. The concept of a returningSon of God in response to human needhas its place in the teaching of the majorityof the world faiths. But the hard truth isCHRIST never left us. He cannot return

Page 32: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

32

because he has always been here uponour Earth. CHRIST IS LOVE. Love residesin and presides over the Heart. The Heartof every human being is the throne uponwhich the CHRIST presides. His return isnothing but his descent into our concreteminds, into our senses and through ouractions. When this happens to any man,lo! CHRIST has returned to the Earth. Itis called “DWIJATWA” in the EasternScriptures i.e., born for the second time. His descent is our second birth. The othername is “Reappearance”. This phenomenaof “Reappearance” or “Return to Earth”is found more perceptably in recent yearswith the increasing understanding oihuman unity and Global understanding.Only when man gives up his aim of livingfor himself and takes up the mission ofoffering himself up for the fellow beings, the birth of CHRIST becomes possible.

Page 33: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

33

The life story of every initiate broadcaststhe same message. It is true with theindividual. It is also true withCommunities. Nations and Races.

Capricorn marks the dawn in a cyclicyear. It promises the return of the warmrays of Sun which deliver the beings ofthe Earth from the sleep and the chillnessof night. This is the case of Sun-rise everyday and of Capricorn every year. It is alsothe case in bigger cycles. All the cyclesmark the reappearance of SAVIOR. It is acyclic fulfilment of the prophecy that“whenever Lawlessness prevails over theLaw, I come down from time to time toset right”.

The present humanity is passingthrough momentous time where a cycleis about to end to give birth to a timecycle of Light - a period of dawn, where

Page 34: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

34

there is general awakening from theignorance and the consequent limitations.

The general Planetary situation nowforces the humanity to recognise thecauses and the source of the presentdisaster. As a result of the two wars ofthe century (and the resultant pain also)man is driven into the depths of his ownConsciousness. There is also mountinginvocative cry, prayer or demand directedtoward high spiritual realms, no matterby whatever name they are called. Thegeneral prayer in one language and faithcan be said.

From the point of Love within theheart of God Let Love stream forth intothe hearts of men

May Christ return to Earth

PRINCIPAL TEACHINGSOF LORD KRISHNA

The main teaching of Krishna relatesto the eternal existence of the OneConsciousness. His first teaching is to clearthe misunderstanding of death. Krishnaspeaks that no one really dies. There is nosuch thing as death. He says that there iseternal existence upon which there isperiodical springing up of universe andin the universe we keep existing eternallythrough-out the span of the universe. When the universe is absorbed into theOne Existence we are also absorbed intoit, when it is blown out into universe weall come into existence. So our little spansare not so little as understood. As soul wecontinue to exist and Krishna wants us to

Page 36: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

36

understand the soul and the vehicle of ourconstitution and the soul carrying thespirit. So the spirit, the soul and the body- these are the three aspects which Krishnaspeaks of. The body keeps changingbecause it is of matter. The soul iscomposed of the spirit and the super finematter which is as eternal asConsciousness, that is what we call theetheric body. All gross matter springs upfrom the super fine matter (premordialmatter) which is made up of ether. So thepermanence of the spirit and thepermanence of this matter during theexistence of the universe is what Krishnaproposes. And Krishna says this soul isimpermeable of matter, water, fire and airand exists as long as the universe is inexistence and hence there is no such thingas birth and there is no such thing as

Page 37: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

37

death, if we understand the conceptcorrectly.

The basic fundamental teaching of theconcept of birth and death is attributed asany of the events that are happening inlife, our getting into sleep and getting outof sleep is also an aspect of death andbirth and we continue to exist throughthe sleep. Similarly our living through thefour stages, namely infancy, youth, adultand old age, is experienced as one living, there is no experiencing of the death ofone stage and the birth of the other stage. In the same fashion through birth anddeath we continue to exist, that is whyKrishna argues that one who understandsthis clue lives through the death. To himthere is no such thing as death.

Krishna speaks of the quality of theSoul, the soul as the owner of the form

Page 38: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

38

and that the owner is never killed in thebody, while the form keeps changing. There is no cause for sorrow whenexistence is eternal. The first steptherefore, is to understand that we existeternally as souls.

Then what are we to do? That comesas the second step, which is, to tune up tothe Law of the Universe. When we tune upto the law of the universe then we are inharmony with the universe. When we donot tune up to the law of the universe wedo not remain so much in harmony. Allour conflicts, enigmas and problems of lifearise out of our ill comprehension of theLaw and our inability to tune up to theLaw. So the moment we tune up and workwith the law then the whole eternalexistence is experienced as a splendour -this is the second step says Krishna.

Page 39: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

39

The third step, Krishna says, is eachone of us have a nature peculiar to ourself.According to the nature we hold, we haveto choose the kind of work that will keepus in harmony, and keep working withthat kind of work so that the harmony isestablished at all times. Never imitate orcopy the nature of others, because even ifit is a greater one it does not give harmonyto us. That which gives us harmony weshould be able to follow. It is like a cattrying to imitate a tiger, cat is a cat - tigeris a tiger, it is good for the tiger to betiger like and for the cat to be cat like, ifthe cat imitates the tiger it cannot livehappily.

One has to make an understanding ofthe quality of work that keeps him inharmony and pursue the same to be inharmony at all times. One must try to get

Page 40: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

40

into that quality more and more. AndKrishna explains the quality of a teacher, the quality of a ruler, the quality of abusinessman and the quality of those whoserve. Among these four qualities thatwhich really suits us we have to workwith. One would have no complaintswhen one has tuned up to the workaccording to the soul quality. So this iswhat we have to do, to tune up the qualityof the soul so that the soul can functionthrough. As between the teacher, the ruler, the businessman and the social serverthere is no such distinction as more sacredand less sacred and all work carried outthrough the four qualities is sacred. Thistruth can be understood when oneharmonises his nature with himself. Thereare many great adepts who arefunctioning in all the four qualities of life.

Page 41: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

41

As between them there is no feeling aslow and high. There is only a feeling of‘one for the other’ - brotherhood.

Is is only the ignorant who see thehigh and low as between the qualities andeach one competes for that which theyignorantly consider high. The scripturesreveal that from the butcher to the rulerand from the businessman to the teacherall are equally important to the societyand all can tune up to the eternal existenceby dedication to their respective works. The clue is to harmonise the quality ofnature that one holds so that he becomesstable of Consciousness. It is necessary tobe stable of Consciousness, be it throughteaching, healing, administering orthrough any other means of service tosociety. Any of the four qualities whenpursued according to one’s own nature

Page 42: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

42

leads to stability. Krishna says thatstability of Consciousness is attained onlyby tuning up once own nature but not byimitating others’ nature unless such otheris also of the same quality. Initiates existin all walks of life. They are not restrictedto Preachers or Teachers. It is for thisreason the Veda describes that “Theteachers are My head, the rulers are Myshoulders, the businessmen are My thighsand the others are My feet.” In the wholebody all organs are equally important andno organ can imitate the other but can doits job for the benefit of itself and for thebenefit of the whole.

The fourth step is about how to tuneup the individual nature with naturedivine and there comes the importance offunctioning. Krishna speaks thathappiness or unhappiness, profit or loss,

Page 43: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

43

comfort or discomfort do not exist themoment you are tuned up to the lawthrough functioning as per your nature. When individual nature is harmonisedthrough a right functioning throughselection of a work which is harmoniousto your nature, then it is so absorbing sointeresting so loveable to you that you donot care about the comfort or discomfortof it, the happiness or unhappiness of itor the profit or loss - they do not exist. And then Krishna says that you willslowly realise that this way to function isto live.

The functioning has its own details ofsteps and it has to be worked out withDISCRIMINATIVE WILL and how towork without motive and without aspiringfor result and how in work there isexperiencing regardless comfort,

Page 44: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

44

discomfort, happiness, unhappiness, profitor loss.

Krishna then speaks about thephilosophers who think that all work isfor result and how foolish they are in theirunderstanding of the work. Then hespeaks of those who foolishly try topossess and how possession will createcomplications in life. And then he speaksabout the natural distortion that takesplace in understanding wisdom accordingto once own impurity of the vehicle. Thebest wisdom given is refracted accordingto one’s own quality. So that is whatKrishna cautions and then he says, theneed to work more and more withdiscriminative Will and only do thatmuch which is required. Never over-door under-do a thing and only do as muchas you have to do without concerning

Page 45: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

45

yourself with the result and withoutyourself being the motive of any deedand without making any beginning fromyour side of any act.

This is the ultimate of all action, whichone has to understand practising step afterstep. No one can think of doing anythingrelating to the last step namely let no deedstart from you. Let no deed start from youis the state of Christ, it cannot be the stateof ordinary spiritual practitioners. Heshould first start functioning with whatexactly he is required to do. He mustknow what to speak. He must know inthe same fashion how to act, how muchto act, where to act and where not to act.So, SPEECH - ACTION these are to belearned first and then the ability to remainimpersonal in action is to be learned and

Page 46: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

46

then the step will come relating to actionbeing happening and nothing startingfrom him because it has already startedin the beginning of the creation and he isnot anyone to begin anything as it isalready existing. So these steps have to becarefully worked out and at the same timedo not seek comfort in not-doing. Theteaching of Krishna calls for action andnot for seeking comfort in inaction.

This is the core of all doctrine of actionand it requires an excellent understandingand it has to be worked out for life time.We have to check up whether we arespeaking and acting according torequirement or under-doing or over-doing, that is where the whole thing isfiltered and only a handful will remainover and above that and those are theMasters.

Page 47: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

47

So we have to be unconcerned aboutthe results. Anything we do we needresults but the doctrine says to experienceaction. You should be unconcerned aboutresults and then do not carry any motive. But everything we do carries a selfishmotive. Even in spiritualism we are selfish, that is our peculiarity. We want to be morespiritual than the other, we want to seeMasters even before others see, there iscompetition to experience the Master, toexperience spirituality. Selfishness doesnot work in spiritualism, it is the lack ofit that works in spiritualism. But man isso concerned about his own self that evenin spiritualism he only tries to see howmuch he has gained and there is no wayto experience unless that disease goesaway. So result is a big thing to overcome- we may pose that we do not work for

Page 48: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

48

results but ultimately we know that weare only working for the results.

So the doctrine of action calls foraction and that action is of two types.Action for one’s own benefit and actionfor the benefit of others. If one observesnature keenly, the clue is found, that oneworks for the other. The whole Wheel ofCreation is based on this clue, hence it istime that man should shut his own pursuitand start working for the benefit of others. This is the way to mastery and this is theonly way to experience the oft used (orabused) words like - God, Love, Light,Christ, Krishna etc. When one works withdiscriminative Will for the benefit ofothers, there is no such thing asattachment and he explains the doctrineof attachment. According to Krishnaattachment or detachment is more mental

Page 49: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

49

than physical. He laughs at those whophysically detach without being mentallydetached. He admires those who seem tobe entangled in the worldly affairs butare mentally detached. The mentallydetached and physically active souls arethe real instruments of God, while thephysically detached are lesserinstruments. The one who is stable inConsciousness exist only to Consciousnesswhether or not he is surrounded bypersons, places, things, articles etc.

Then Krishna explains how onefunctions if he is very stable inConsciousness. As an example Krishnanarrates the quality of stable One :

No agitation by sorrow, no desire forhappiness, no craving, no shirking, nooutburst - his Consciousness is stable.

Page 50: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

50

He is figuratively called the ‘Silent’.

No particular attachment anywhere,no particular enjoyment for thepleasant, no particular hatred for theso-called undesirable.

He recedes into himself. His sensescalmly recede from the objects. Theprocess is like that of a Tortoisewithdrawing its limbs into its shell.

Then his Consciousness is stable.

But beware ! Do not make your sensesstarve ofits objects. Starvation is nowithdrawal. The objects are away fromthe senses but they leave their seeds ofcraving in the senses only to begerminated again with redoubled vigour. This is the result of starving. Withdrawalis quite different. It is the fine process of

Page 51: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

51

leaving the lower taste by tasting thehigher.

One may be very learned. One mayapply the greatest effort to control one’ssenses. Still the senses agitate and drawthe mind into their agitation. No amountof knowledge or scholarship or effort willbe of any help. It is only by cultivatingthe higher taste one can leave the lower.

Through this process control all. Be insynthesis. Always have I AM as yourobject. This is the only way to subjugateyour parts into you, not by you. Thenhave your consciousness.

When one thinks of an object one isattached to it. Then he desires it. A desireto it, causes hatred to its opposite. Hatredcauses confusion. This causes escape ofrecollection of his own consciousness. This

Page 52: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

52

escape shatters the will. With this step, one disintegrates.

Arrange everything in you to obey theI AM in you. Then you live clear in yourown I AM even though objects applythemselves to the senses.

This clarity is the pure state in whichsorrows have no place. Will stands onlyon this pure background.

Will makes its appearance out of yourown synthesis. Lack of synthesis distortswill. Distorted will carries no peace. Whatof happiness when there is no peace?

Then the senses blow like winds in alldirections - they drive the mind as a feebleship. Then the Consciousness is at themercy of the stormy tide of life.

Have your senses withdrawn from

Page 53: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

53

their objectives to live above them. Thenonly the Consciousness is stable.

Visualise the rotation of the earthglobe. Some sleep into the night whileothers work awake in the day. Similarlysome are awake in the activity of thesenses with the mind. Will and stabilityof Consciousness do not exist to them. Tothem it is sleep. But those who arecontrolled, are awakened to will andstability. To them it is day. To them themind, the senses and their objectives existin sleep.

They do not want anything.Requirements come and approach them, flow into them as and when required andfinally merge in them. See how riversapproach the Ocean, flow into it andfinally merge into it, losing their nature.

Page 54: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

54

Even being filled, the ocean stands stableand has no change in its level. Such a oneexperiences what is peace. One whodesires can never experience peace.

Thus man should leave off all hisdesire and act without desiring. He shouldbe I AM. No localisation of I AM, Nomine! Such a one can achieve peace.(Localisation of I AM results in limitingthe Consciousness which causesseparation of the One self-this in turntriggers all illusion and ignorance).

“This is the creative state required.Once this is achieved, no one is confused. If one can stand this stage even while onedies (while the mind disappears) oneattains the experience of creativemerging.”

So, if we keep looking to this check

Page 55: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

55

list, we know for ourself, how stable weare, we do not need others to tell us, sothis is how the whole scheme is .

THE PATH OF GRADUALUNFOLDMENT

1. There is a sure path of gradualunfoldment in observing (and therebyexperiencing) the ONE Consciousnessin all that is called God, the Divine, the Supreme, the Light or bywhatever name.

2. Meditating upon all visible forms (ofthe beings) as the manifestation of theOne, attending to them responsibly, making effort to discharge ‘ourduties’ to them as a matter of worshipis the foundation for all naturalunfoldment of Consciousness. Itestablishes ‘normal temperament’ inthe aspirant and prevents distractioninto speculative spiritualism as

Page 57: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

57

against operative spiritualism. Thelatter is more effective andexperiencing than the former.

3. An aspirant in practice of theaforesaid fundamental postulateprogresses even if he/she does notvisit Temples, Churches andMosques. It does not mean thatvisiting the Temples, Churches etc.,is prohibitive. The visits need not beat the cost of one’s own duty. To thespiritualists these visits happeneffortlessly during the course ofdischarge of their duties to the fellowbeings and even if they do not happenhe is not worried.

4. Meditating on all visible universe andthe forms therein graduallyestablishes in the aspirant the truth

Page 58: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

58

that “GOD IS OMNIPRESENT”. Heis realised both within and outsidethe Temples. To the ignorant GodConsciousness exists in Temples onlyand the other places are’ non God tothem. To the Spiritual Students it isrealised gradually as the life behindthe form. The student, therefore, comes to a logical conclusion that heneed not run away from life situationin search of God, in search of Serviceand in search of Sacrifice. All is foundwithin and within the given systemof life. He realises that God is withinand that service and sacrifice shallhave to start with himself i.e.,dedicating himself for the benefit ofothers. Service and Sacrifice becomenormal and natural but not artificialand hypocritic. Such are the ones who

Page 59: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

59

knock the door of initiation forAtonement at one ment.

5. The God cannot be defined to exist ata place in exclusion to other places. At a time in exclusion to other times. In a form in exclusion to other forms. And by a name in exclusion to othernames. He is unlike the forms in cre-ation, immutable. He is unguessable. He exists stable in all that is. He can-not be visualised by those who ne-glect Him in the beings as the be-ings.

6. For the created beings it is easier tocomprehend the One God in the formof beings. By being serviceable to thebeings (who are made up of the OneConsciousness) one gains the visionof ONENESS of the apparent many.

Page 60: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

60

7. Those who refuse to see God as thecreated universe and try to pursuefor Him closing one’s eyes in thename of Meditation or Yoga orpenance are complicating themselvesand are illusioned. Their’s is the pathmade difficult by themselves.

8. The Yoga Students, who pursue theLORD in the created forms need notrelinquish their daily routine, or theiracts or responsibility. They canconduct themselves submitting theconsequence of their actions to theLORD the I AM in everyone. Suchpractice liberates the practitionerfrom the consequence of their actions.

9. It could be difficult in the beginningto submit the consequences of actionsto the LORD and carry out the duties

Page 61: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

61

to the beings around. What shouldbe done in those circumstances? Itshould be recollected for practice. Each failure should lead to a moredetermined resolve. What happens ifwe forget? We should create a typeof routine where it becomes difficultto forget. What happens if suchroutine cannot be established? Stillthere is a way; keep doing that whichis to your liking, leaving the resultsto the LORD.

10. As one gradually practices the abovesteps, the unfoldment is sure andcertain. The mind unfolds to dutiesand responsibilities and shunslaziness, indifference, irresponsibility. The duties are well performed andwith ease and they do not bring in

Page 62: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

62

consequences as there is neither overnor under doing.

For example when you eat as muchas is necessary, it maintains goodhealth. When you over eat or undereat, it disturbs the equilibrium ofhealth. So is the case with regard toevery action. Yoga is equipoise andyou will reach it through right action.

11. When such poise is gained in mind, scope is laid to visualise more. Seehow in a stillwater lake the stars andthe moon in the sky are reflected.Even the pebbles below are madevisible. That which is above and thatis below are clearly seen. Such is themind of a Yogi.

How does a Yogi perform his duties? He is (a) Friendly to all beings.

Page 63: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

63

(b) Unpossessive of persons, properties, things and thoughts.

(c) Tolerant and is not affected byadversities or fortunes.

(d) Not critical of others and isaccommodative of others’ faults.

(e) Content and works for precisionand perfection.

(f) Yogi at all times in all places andat all situation. Meaning, his mind, sensesand body are in alignment with himself.

How to understand if one isfunctioning as a Yogi?

When he (a) is not emotional and doesnot stimulate others’ emotions;

(b) is not glamoured for things,however, valuable they are ;

Page 64: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

64

(c) is pure of body, senses and mind;

(d) is capable and dependable and isnot dependent on others;

(e) is detached mentally even amidstproblems;

(f) respects others’ freedom of thought, freedom of movement, freedom of beliefsetc.

(g) stable ;

(h) does not commence any act for hispersonal benefit;

(i) has no particular situations to beparticularly happy;

(j) carries no jealousy for others ;

(k) craves for and lives in the presenceof the ONE;

Page 65: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

65

(1) unmindful of profit or loss, victoryor failure and comfort or discomfort, whiledischarging his duties;

(m) enjoys every life situation as aninteresting part of the Grand Play.

UPANAYANAM

Upanayanam is the most sacred of thesacraments conducted to elevate the soulincorporated in the body.

MEANING : Literally, it means “to gonear” or “to walk near”. The subject walksinto the Ashram of a teacher to learn. Theteacher, making a close study of thestudent, his potentials, qualities, limitations, attitudes, aptitudes etc.,carefully trains the student for twoperiods of seven years each. Under themeticulous guidance of the Teacher, thestudent picks up his soul qualities anddevelops skills so as to usefully serve thesociety. He learns and practices thesciences of the world and the science ofman too.

Page 67: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

67

As he comes out of the ashram of theteacher, he is fully equipped to servesociety and thus gains fitness to to be ahouseholder. A convocation is held for hisbatch of students before they leave theschool (the ashram of the teacher) and theconvocation function is called SnatakaUtsava.

Thus the sacrament Upanayanamculminates in Snataka (the convocation).

RIGHT AGE

Normally, depending upon thebrilliance of the child, the sacrament isconducted in the 7th or 9th or 11th or 13thor 15th year of the child. If the child showsunusual brilliance since initial years, thesacrament is conducted even earlier i.e.,in the 5th year. We know from historythat Lord Buddha was conducted this

Page 68: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

68

sacrament in his 5th year. Likewise,Master C.V.V. the Aquarian Master toowent through this sacrament in the 5thyear. By seven years. It is generallyexpected that the soul gains hold over theseven layers of the human body and henceis considered the right time to remind thesoul and train the body scientifically andsystematically.

Sytematised education that construc-tively develops mind through the teenageis what is contemplated.

REVISIONAL SACRAMENT :

At the time of Upanayana, all theprevious sacraments done from the timeof birth are redone. Even if those weredone properly, they are redone, to purifythe layers of the body. The Jata Karma(cutting the Umbelical cord) Nama Karana

Page 69: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

69

(the naming ceremony), Anna Prasana(the initiation into food from breast milk),Aksharabhyasa (initiation into literacy),Chevulopanayana (the ear ring ceremony)are all done once again, to purify everyaspect so as to prepare the body for thehigh initiation of Upanayana. Theseshould be gone through with utmost careand diligence.

The father of the Vatu (the child thatis being initiated into Upanayana),addresses the Lord as in the form of theaugust gathering as under to gain theblessings of the Lord for the child so toenable the child to gain fitness for thesacrament.

“May the august gatheringcondescend to listen to my submissions”.

“May you accept my offerings withcompassion”.

Page 70: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

70

“May you pardon the errors that mayhave happened with my son eversince hewas born till this time, i.e., upto thissacrament Upanayana. Errors such as :

a. Drinking milk from the breasts ofothers’ mothers, who are pure orimpure.

b. Mixing up with colleagues ofundesirable vibrations while at play,at conversation and by touching andhugging each other.

c. Urinating while standing.

d. As per necessities of time and place, transgressing sanctions of purity and

e. Being not dutiful in the past and pastlives.

And “May he gain fitness to the

Page 71: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

71

sacrament Upanayana for now andhereafter for future lives”.

“May he gain fitness to utter Gayatri-The Sacred Mantra”.

“May the Lord narayana and theGoddess Lakshmi be pleased with thissacrament”.

“May you be pleased to bless the childand bless me”.

The august gathering responds to thesubmission of the parent and bestowsblessings saying.

“So mote it be”.

SEED-SOWING CEREMONY

(Ankuraropana) :

Every ritual is always preceded byseed-sowing ceremony. The cereals of nine

Page 72: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

72

varieties are sowed into five pans, indicative of the cyclical growth of cereals, their usefulness to life and their continuitythrough cycles of time. The sowing is doneseven or five or three days before theUpanayana ritual. Thereafter, they areeither implanted in the front or rear yardof the house to grow further. Later, thegrains are offered to the bird’s and theplants to the animals.

Grain has a cycle of existence. Mantoo has a cycle. Grain continues throughthe cycles of time. Man too. Continuity ofsoul through incarnations is to be realised.Hence the sowing ceremony. The grainsprouts and grows.

The man in the body also growsbesides the body growth. The grain plantyields multitude of grains. Man is also

Page 73: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

73

expected to give rise to multitude of life-nourishing, life-promoting and life-givingacts while in incarnation. The grain havingyielded multitude of grains, sacrifices itsfruits and itself to the benefit of others.Man has much to learn from the grain.Hence this ritual of seed-sowing plays animportant part in every sacrament andmuch more so in the sacrament relatingto Upanayana.

OBJECTIVES OF UPANAYANA :

The basic objectives of the sacramentare to :

a. Assign the child to the care of ateacher and an ashram.

b. Educate the child at all levels, namely, economic, social and spiritual levels.

c. Bestow longevity, brilliance, fame, splendour and fulfillment.

Page 74: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

74

d. Study the Veda (Wisdom) along withthe keys.

e. Teach the veda along with the keys.

f. Utter the 24 syllabled Gayatri Mantraand thereby experience the secondbirth.

THE SACRED THREAD :

The sacred thread is worshipped withutmost reverance and is touched by thewisemen (to transmit vibrations) andthereafter the father proposes :

“I now bestow upon my son thissacred thread to enable him to conductthe acts of Goodwill as contained in theScriptures. Let it bestow longevity uponmy son. May the Devas of the sacredthread accept my humble salutations andbless”.

Page 75: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

75

Thereafter while investing the sacredthread the following affirmations aremade :

“May you be stable like Indra - theKing of celestials. May you ruleunfettered, the Kingdom (the sevenlayered body) with utmost responsibility.

May you be fit to encounter and resistthe ill-health and evil acts of the body.

May you occupy the whole body withfull strength and vigour, just as the Kingcelestial pervades over the creation andjust as waters flow and occupy the fields.

Taking in the right food, may you gainthe praise of the Devas.

“May you master listening anduttering”.

Page 76: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

76

Having thus affirmed, the sacredthread is vested saying :

“The sacred thread is the purestamong the pure. It is the co-born of thecreator himself. Vesting the sacred threadbestows longevity, purity, vitality andbrilliance”.

“May this moment be auspicious”.INVOCATION OF THE DEVAS OF WILL(NANDI) and of SPLENDOUR(SOBHANA)

Into the chaste brahmins the devas ofwill and of splendour are also invoked, tobestow blessings on the child. On theirinvocation, they are worshipped and aresought to bless the child by keeping goodcontact with the child, all through hisperiod of education with the Guru(teacher). They are also prayed to bestow

Page 77: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

77

longevity, brilliance, fame, vitality and all-around progress upon the teacher and thetaught.

The brahmins and the gathering in onevoice declare :

“So mote it be”.

THE RECOMMENDED FOOD :

The food recommended to the childduring his stay at the ashram of the master(teacher) is bland food i.e., without salt,chilly-spices etc.,

Among the five senses, taste is themost powerful and this needs to bebrought under the control of the childright from childhood. Otherwise, for lifeone becomes slave of his taste. Throughthis sense, the body gains control over thesoul. Gradually, with the help of the sense

Page 78: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

78

of taste, other senses too declareindependence and enslave man. Man thusgets sensuous and there is no way toovercome. Just, the food that we take incan cause such havoc, when we are notalert. Lord Krishna says “the one whoovercomes taste, overcomes the body ofsenses. One who succumbs to taste, succumbs to all”.

OTHER AUSTERE MEASURES :

During the 14 years period with theteacher, the student is not allowedcomforts in life, while, the necessities arefully attended to. He is not allowed tosleep even upto dawn, to sleep oncushioned beds, to apply cosmetics andscents to body or to have hot water bath. All these seem to be curt and rude. Butthe mastery over body is gained, so that

Page 79: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

79

in the latter part of life, the body co-operates in all works. Only from the timeof marriage he is allowed splendour inlife. Study, learning righteous habits, gaining mastery over tongue, the otherfour sense organs, gaining skills of life areof primary importance. The Children arenot allowed to bring from their house, even clothing.

The formative years of life are thustaken complete care of. The student comesout as an effective aligned instrument, fitto serve the community.

TONSURE :

The father brings lukewarm water. Heinvokes the Devas of Radiation(ADITYAS) into the knife. He wets thehead with water saying:

Page 80: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

80

“May these sacred waters wet thehead to bestow longevity of life, brillianceand to enable you to vision the sun forlong years”.

The father thereafter scissors the hairof the son from East, in a clock-wisedirection. The first scissoring is on theEast, the second on the South, the thirdon the West and the fourth on the North.

The tonsuring is done thereafter in thesame order, uttering the followinginvocation:

East : “I tonsure (the hair) with the sameknife, as used by the cosmic Sunupon Varuna. May it beauspicious.

South : I tonsure with the same knife asused by Varuna upon Brihaspati

Page 81: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

81

(the Jupitarian principle) Agni (theLord of Fire) and Indra (the Kingcelestial). May it bring fame.

West : May you visualise the Sun throughyour acts of Goodwill. May suchacts bestow longevity and fameupon you.

North : I tonsure with the same knife asused by Varuna upon Brihaspati(the Jupitarian principle) Agni (theLord of Fire) and Indra (the Kingof celestial). May it bring fame”.

Having thus tonsured, the hair iscollected each of the four times into a bowlof cow-dung. Later, the hair and the cow-dung are deposited at the root ofAudambara Tree (a sacred tree thatvibrates yogic energies of LordDattatreya).

Page 82: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

82

The Tonsuring ritual is concludedwith offering to the Lord of Fire, seekinghis protection for the child. Tonsure isfrequently done in all religions duringrituals. The hair on the head carries theelectric charge and conducts the thoughtsfrom the surroundings into the beings.Tonsure is a overhauling process thatgives freshness and even sometimesneeded when embarking upon newthought patterns and new projects thatrequire a new/fresh approach. It enablesa fresh resumption of activity. Cow-dungis considered as comprising of purifyingand sanctifying chemical action. Cow-dung also is frequently used in rituals onaccount of its harmonising chemicalpotential.

STONE STABILITY :

On the Northern side of the fire-place

Page 83: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

83

a stable stone is laid and the child is askedto stand still upon the stone.

The teacher declares :

“Ascend the stable-stone and gainstone-stability. Live a stable life. Resist theevil. Fight those who desire fighting withyou. Do not recede. Face. Do not escape”.

Thereafter, the child is directed to offerghee to fire, seeking support andprotection.

FOUR-FOLD INVESTITURE :

The body is thereafter vested with

1) Clothing

2) Deer Skin

3) Mounji

4) Staff

Page 84: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

84

1. The clothing, the strings therein andthe borders that protect the cloth arerepresentative of the Solar Ray. Theboy is vested the cloth invoking theprotection of the Solar Ray.

2. The deerskin is desirable to maintainsatwa (poise). It bestows progress, vitality, brilliance and fame. It alsoattracts right vibration and right food.

3. Mounji is bestowed to prohibitinauspicious utterances. Thereby thearmoury of protection offered by theSolar Ray remains intact. Continuousauspicious utterances make theMounji more powerful and affordsgreater purity.

4. The staff is given to make the childremember that he works for theSociety and protects it.

Page 85: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

85

ACCEPTANCE OF THE DISCIPLE :

“I shall behave responsibly with thechosen Master, understanding acts ofdeath and immortality. May the masterprotect me, direct me and illumine meduring my stay with him. May myconduct be auspicious”.

Saying so, the disciple walks upto theTeacher.

The Teacher : “A wave of the oceanreached me in auspicious enthusiasm. Itenables me to experience immortality. Thisstudent is no other than the Solar Ray,that which is I AM”. Saying so, the teachertakes hold of the right hand of the studentand says further : “Now the Lord of Fire-Agni took hold of you. The Lord ofVibrations - Soma took hold of you. TheCentral Sun, Savitha, took hold of you.

Page 86: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

86

The ever-flowing energy, Saraswathi tookhold of you. The preserving light Pusha, the teacher of the teachers, Brihaspati, thepulsating Lord Aryama and a host ofothers took hold of you.

You have become a friend. Infriendliness, the Lord of fire accepts youin the form of your teacher. I hand youover to these (aforesaid) intelligences forprotection, direction and illumination. Onbehalf of them, with the permission ofSavitha, the Central Sun, I accept you tobe with me, around me, near me. Maythis moment of my acceptance beauspicious and shower blessings foreternity”.

The teacher guides the student to thefire place. He invokes the celestial

Page 87: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

87

intelligences and directs the student tooffer food to them.

The student does so with venerationto Soma, Savita, Saraswati, Mrutyu, Yama,Gada, Antaka, Jala, oshadhi, Prithvi andVaiswanara.

Thereafter, the teacher holding thehand of the student encircles the fire placethrice in clockwise direction.

Sitting face to face with the studentthe teacher whispers in the right ear ofthe student as under :

“By the power conferred upon me bythe Lord Savitru, I accept you. May yoube blessed with good progeny, withgoodwill, with brilliance and with abilityto train people that feed and protectothers”.

Page 88: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

88

THE COMMANDMENTS :

The following general injuctions aregiven to the child to be followedmeticulously :

1) I shall follow the teacher’sinstructions.

2) I shall be discrete in speech, inmovements and in eating.

3) I shall fulfill the duties entrusted tome by my teacher.

4) I shall not sleep during the day.

5) I shall eat food as is given and shallnot exercise desire and demand forfood.

6) I shall accept no drink other thanwater.

Page 89: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

89

7) I shall be loyal to the teacher.

INITIATION INTO GAYATRI :

The student humbly approaches theTeacher and prays :

“Oh! Venerable Master please be kindto intitiate me into Savitri”.

Pleased with the student, the teacherforms a triangle with the father of thechild. The teacher and the father utterforth the mantra. The child repeats.

I. ‘OM BHUH, OM BHUVAH, OMSUVAH, OM MAHAH, OMJANAH, OM TAPAH, OMSATYAM

OM TAT SAVITUR VARENYAMBHARGO DE/ASYA DHIMAHI,DHIYOYONAH PRACHO-DAYAT”.

Page 90: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

II. “OM BHUH TAT SAVITURVARENYAM OM BHUVAHBHARGO DEVASYA DHIMAHIOM SUVAH

III. “OM BHUH TAT SAVITURVARENYAM BHARGO DEVASYADHIMAHI OM BHUVAHDHIYOYONAH PRACHODAYAT.

IV. “OM SUVAH TAT SAVITURVARENYAM BHARGO DEVASYADHIMAHI

V. “OM BHUR BHUVA SUVAHA OMTAT SAVITUR VARENYAMBHARGO DEVASYA DHIMAHI

DHIYOYONAH PRACHODAYAT.

Page 91: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

91

Having been thus initiated, the childis also given a brief meaning of theMantra, which is as under :

“We meditate upon the Lord of Light,Bhargodeva :

May that Savita, (the Central Sun thatpermeates through the Sun Globe)embrace us to alert our Will”.

GAYATRI WORD MEANING :

YAH - That which

NAH - Our

DHIYAH - Wills

PRACHODAYAT - Alerts, or stimulates

TAT - That

SAVITUR - Light of the Central Sun

VARENYAM - Embrace us

Page 92: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

92

BHARGOH - The Light

DEVASYA - The Lord of

DHIMAHI - We meditate / or isbeing meditated

The sole purpose of Gayatri japa is tostimulate the will divine in us, so that weconduct life purposefully, i.e., fulfill thevery purpose of our incarnation into thebody.

We have the Sun Globe, Surya. Hereceives light from a centre, the centralSun, called Savitu. He is the solar Centre.Even he receives light from a highercentre, the cosmic centre, which is thesource of the Lord of all light. He is calledAditya or Bhargo Deva. Aditya, Savitaand Surya successively bring light untothe beings. And the beings are the solar

Page 93: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

93

rays in flesh and blood. Through GayatriMantra, we link up to our source andthereby conduct our lives as a Solar Ray-playing our part in the Grand play.

Having thus received the Mantra andits meaning the student utters thus :

“May I be fulfilled,

May the light Absolute be myWealth”.

At this moment it is consideredauspicious, to gift a cow to the deserving.

Having uttered Gayatri and gifted thecow, the student is introduced to the dailyfire ritual.

The student and the teacher thereafterwalk upto the ashram of the teacher wherethe student preforms daily:

Page 94: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

94

1) Gayatri Japa

2) Fire Ritual and

3) Duties entrusted to him by theTeacher.

This is besides learning Wisdom andskills of life.

A WORD ON GAYATRI :

Gayatri is the light of the World. TheWorld consciousness, the Universalconsciousness that emerges from theUniversal Being. It is the silver screenupon which the creation happens. Gayatrirepresents the awakened state before thecreation. It is the potential space on thebackground of space, through which thecreation of multitude of Solar andplanetary system emerge as also thebeings of the said system. It is the

Page 95: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

95

Universal awareness and is the source ofall creation. It exists in us too, asawareness. Awareness is the basis for allthought, speech and action. Hence, it isthe source of all our activity. Likewise, atthe Universal level, it is the awareness onthe basis of which the Word goes forth toform all this. The universal awareness iscalled the Mother and the Universal Beingis called the Father. The Father, the beingis the basis for the Mother, the awareness. The Mother is the basis for the creation. We too have these states. We are-beings.That means we exist. Upon this background of existence, we awake andbecome aware. Awareness as the basis,we think, we speak and we act. For allcreational work, awareness is the basis.Awareness is the offspring of Being. ‘

Through Gayatri the identity with

Page 96: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

96

Universal awareness is gained so that ourlittle awareness functions in tune with theUniversal awareness. It is a process ofalignment with the Universe that iscontemplated through invocation ofGayatri. It is a method of finding one’sown fitness in the total plan - Divine.

It enables walking into greatermeasure of Light, which in turn, enablesbetter vision, better audience, bettercomprehension and hence betterfunctioning.

Its invocation done twice daily, duringtwilight hours, is considered propitious.

The sound formula is called Gayatri,i.e., it protects when sung. Singing impliesmusical utterance in contrast tomurmuring. The effect of Gayatri is morewhen sung musically, aloud. The Mantra

Page 97: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

97

says, We meditate, meaning that it is amantra to be sung collectively. Collectivesinging of Gayatri during twilight hoursprotects, directs and illumines the utterers.

Since the contemplation is upon theUniversal consciousness, it is the highestform of worship/meditation. For thisreason, it is said there is no equal to thisDevata. It is the sumumbonum of all thatis.

Gayatri is not Indian, for, LightUniversal cannot be Indian. All belong toLight and no one can claim ownership ofLight. Hence, according to occultunderstanding, Gayatri can be sung byall who have the deep inclination to doso. It is no more an exclusive property ofa few. It was never so. It is a matter ofinclination. The deep inclination is the

Page 98: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

98

fitness to utter forth. To own Sunlight anddeny it to others is an act of ignorance.Purity of Mind and Body and purity ofplace as also clarity in utterance arehowever demanded.

Let the Light Universal, stream forthinto the minds of Men

Let Light descend on Earth

MARRIAGE - A SACRAMENT

Marriage is an important sacramentto the human being. It sanctifies the onewho marries. It purifies and transforms.

Copulating is different from marriage.Animals, birds, insects copulate. Manmarries. There is a difference between thetwo. If man understands marriage as alicence to copulate, he is no better than abeast.

There is always a higher purpose inevery sacrament and marriage stands outas the most important of such sacraments.

THE NATURAL LAW :

It is but the Law of Nature that yougive that which you receive to remainneutral. When you receive more than that

Page 100: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

100

you give it binds you. When you givemore than you receive it weakens you Ifyou allow inflow and outflow in equalmeasure, it enables you to live in balance. It applies in all walks of life. It also appliesto your body. We received body throughour parents. Hence we have a duty to givebody to another Soul. A seed becomes atree to give birth to fruits and seeds. Thisis Nature’s Law of continuity. Natureconducts this Law to perpetuate itself. Wereceive support from Society, hence wehave to support the Society. We receivesupport from parents and elders duringearly stages of life. Hence we need toextend this support to youngesters as wegrow. We receive teaching from elders.Hence we need to teach the youngsters.THE RESPONSIBILITY :

The duty to prefer body to souls is

Page 101: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

101

thus the purpose of marriage. It is not onlypreferring bodies that is intended byMarriage. Marriage intends proferringhealthy bodies to the incarnating souls. Itis a greater responsibility. In these days, man more often bequeathes diseases tohis heirs than health and wealth. A couplethat carry disease in thoughts, in emotions, and in speech and action, invariably passon such disease to their progeny. Hencecopulating shall have to be while inhealthy condition at all levels i.e., at themental, emotional and the physical levels. For example, a diabetic should make surethat his sugar level is well under controlbefore he plans for a child. An obeseperson should make sure that he reduceshis obesity before he proposes for a childbirth. Congenital diseases are not easilyamenable for cure and hence the couple

Page 102: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

102

need to observe health as a preconditionbefore giving birth to souls.

The couple should also entertain a fairdegree of harmony between them. Acouple in conflict produce children thatcarry conflicting nature in them.

Hence, health and harmony are vitalrequisites before man thinks of givingbodies to the incarnating Souls.

THE POLARITY OF SEX - THEGANDHARVA

The Nature conducts reproductionwith beings as its instruments. To conductthis reproduction the Nature produces apower and that is KAMA, the sexualattraction. This KAMA principle knownas a “GANDHARVA” functions on thebasis of magnetic power of a Cosmic

Page 103: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

103

Principle called SOMA, “SOMA”principle permeates upon Planet Earthreflecting through the Satelite Moon thatrevolves around our Earth. This KAMA,the Gandharva move? along Soma and isresponsible for the youthfulness in theyouth. The youthfulness blushes forthfurther just before the time of marriage inthe bride and the bridegroom which is“Pendii Kala” - the splendour. The brideand bridegroom become charming andgain more attraction to each other. This isthe function of the Gandharva as isvisualised by the Seers of the ancienttimes. Through the marriage ritual, thisGandharva is invoked, worshipped andis satiated, so that the couple are blessedto experience the bliss of the marriagesacrament.

Those who realise the power of the

Page 104: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

104

Gandharva through the ritual gain theright attitude to sex. To them sex polarityis the means to give birth to good progeny.Toothers who do not realise the purposeand the power of the Gandharva, sexceases to be the tool for reproduction. Onthe contrary they become tools in thehands of sex. Instead of the power of sexco-operating in the act of copulating, itoverpowers the couple, reducing thewhole reproduction ritual to that of abeastly action, which in turn gives birthto animallike man. The personoverpowered by the power of sex is likethe ship caught in cyclonic weather. Thesex power wrecks him and leaves him ina damaged health condition for the restof the life.THE COMPANIONSHIP :

Marriage offers companionship and

Page 105: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

105

partnership for life. Man learns to workfor the woman and the woman learns towork for the Man through Marriage. “Onefor the other” as a virtue is graduallyrealised and man is simultaneouslyelevated. Each learns to sacrifice his/hercomforts for the sake of the other. Eachlearns to share his/her pleasure with theother. “Give and take”, “Share andDistribute” gradually develop. Above allMan learns to gradually accept other’sview point, a big step in evolution. Onelearning from the other and at the sametime teaching the other becomes a naturalprocess. Concern for one another unfoldsthe heart petals and man gradually startsexperiencing the bliss of LOVE. Manprotects the woman and her interests andwoman takes care of man’s needs and inthe process identity is gained, where union

Page 106: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

106

of souls is experienced in distinction tounion of bodies. Oneness is realised.

THE GROUP :

As man and woman live in suchharmony and health and give birth toSouls, a duty is well performed. But theduty is not yet fully discharged.

As they beget children, together theyneed to work for upbringing the childrenin right atmosphere. The children shouldbe given right food, right habits and rightattitudes in Life. Only then the duty iswell discharged. Thus in the process, bothof them work for the children learningfurther lessons of sacrifice. As the familygroup develops with 4 to 5 membersliving together, group consciousness isgradually gained as against individualconsciousness a step indeed towards

Page 107: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

107

expansion of Consciousness. Family thusstands as an important school for learninglife’s lessons. It is indeed contemplatedby Nature as the Fundamental school oflearning.

As the family develops in harmonymany times, instead of gaining identity atthe soul level, attachments are developed, which again becomes counter productive.Attachment is the lower form of Love. Itbinds persons and limits them. While Loveallows living and experiencing togetherwithout being bound. Stand free whilesurrounded” is the keynote of family life.In the East, more often the Love amongfamily members degenerates intoattachment to family, while in the West,it degenerates into detachment of anegative nature. A balance between the

Page 108: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

108

two gives the experience of Love in familylife.

FAMILY SYSTEM (GRIHASTASRAMA)

Among the four Asramas (i.e., Infancy,Youth, Family Life and retirement the foursteps of man’s life), the Grihasta ie., thefamily man is the backbone for the otherthree namely, the infants, the youth andthe old. In this period of life, man learns, experiences and fulfills the purpose of hislife. Marriage is thus a stepping stone forthis coveted life experience.

THE MEANING AND THESIGNIFICANCE

On completion of education in the‘School of learning’ the Brahmacharin isexpected to return from a convocation. Atthe convocation he gets instructed that he

Page 109: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

109

shall not cut the thread of continuity ofprogeny. In accordance with thisinstruction, the Brahmacharin accepts avirgin in marriage.

The bridegroom is considered to bethe embodiment of “Narayana” (TheSpirit) and the bride is considered as theembodiment of the Goddess ‘Lakshmi”(The Divine Nature). The union of the twois a replica of spirit and matter for a NewCreation.

The bridegroom is given the bride tofulfill the purpose of Life. It is with thisattitude, he is expected to receive theVirgin.

At the time of Subha Lagna, thebridegroom and the bride should look intoeach other’s eyes! This is considered asthe first union. Looking into each others

Page 110: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

110

eyes is the first act of union and it shouldnot be lost sight of.

The bride and the bridegroom placeupon each other’s head a recipe which isa mixture of Jaggery and Cumin. Jaggeryand Cumin when well mixed give birthto positive electriccharge as per theAncient’s understanding of Chemistry. Byplacing this recipe on each other’s head, the Soul quality of the bride and thebridegroom get instantly attracted to eachother and the union of the Souls takesplace.

ROLE OF THE BRIDE GROOM IN THERITUAL :

The Bride-groom has greater role toplay in the ritual than the Bride. He shouldinvoke and oner salutations to the Lordof the Universe, to the masters of Wisdom,

Page 111: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

111

to the elders that are present at themarriage, to the youngsters that arepresent; and also to all those who arepresent visibly and invisibly.

He seeks the blessings of all forpeaceful co-existence with the bride. Thegathering at the marriage should alsocarry the deep intention to bless the couplefor blissful married life. Normally theinvitees lose sight of this duty and getpre-occupied in out of context talk orthought.

The bride-groom should also carry anunderstanding that he is marrying thevirgin in tune with Nature’s plan of whichhe is a part. He seeks thus protection ofthe Nature’s Law.

The bride-groom should furtherunderstand that the marriage is meant for

Page 112: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

112

fulfilment of nature ordained duties butnot for mere sexual enjoyment. Theforemost of such duty is to realise TRUTHthrough the union with the female nature.

The Bride-groom should understandthat he is accepting the Bride witnessedby the Five Elements, to please the Pitris, the Procreating Devas.

He should know that he is marryingto realise the Laws of Righteousness, toexperience life in all ways and to continuethe chain of reproduction through hisfamily dynasty on this Planet, begettingVIRTUOUS CHILDREN. He shouldwillfully propose to experienceimmortality through his union with theBride.

In performance of righteous actions,he should not ignore his wife. In realising

Page 113: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

113

the splendour of Life he should not ignorehis wife. In fulfillment of desires, heshould not ignore his wife. These are thethree promises he makes and he isexpected not to default on these threecounts.

LORD MAITREYA -THEWORLD TEACHER

Lord Maitreya is a sage of greatbrilliance descending from the order ofLord Vishnu - the Second Logos, thepreserving Light, the Logos of Love-Wisdom, the Cosmic Second Ray.

Lord Maitreya was the Prince ofBenares, the holiest city of ancient India. He abdicated the throne in favour of hisbrother, with his father’s permission, andjoined the Divine Plan 5000 years agoalong with Veda Vyasa under theguidance of Parasara, the then WorldTeacher.

Maitreya, Veda Vyasa (the author ofMahabharata, Bhagavata and classifier of the

Page 116: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

116

Veda) and Sandipani (the childhoodteacher of Lord Krishna) are the chiefdisciples of the then World Teacher,Parasara, who perceived and worked forthe Divine Plan until the birth of LordKrishna.

Lord Krishna, the Jagadprabhu (theLord of the Universe) and the Jagadguru(the Teacher of the Universe), installedMaitreya as the World Teacher at thetime of the former’s departure from thephysical. Krishna found that LordMaitreya was the most appropriate tocontinue the “Word” on the planet andhelp the beings to find their path ofascent/evolution.

Since then, Lord Maitreya, the WorldTeacher, assumed the august responsibil-ity of imparting the “Word” through

Page 117: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

117

Astanga Yoga, through service andthrough sacrifice. The variety of Yogas, such as Raya Yoga, Kriya Yoga, AgniYoga, Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, JnanaYoga, Bhakti Yoga, Dhyana Yoga, SanyasYoga, are all offshoots of the Astanga Yogaintroduced and initiated by LordMaitreya. The term Yoga essentiallymeans ‘union’. It suggests the state ofunity of the individual self with the Di-vine.

Among those who co-operate withLord Maitreya in fulfilling the Divine Planare the great Initiates Maru (Morya) andDevapi (Koot Hoomi), of solar and lunardynasties respectively.

King Yudhistira and the Wise Viduraare among the foremost disciples of LordMaitreya. Master Djwhal Khul (D.K.),

Page 118: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

118

popularly known as The Tibetan Master, has been the chief disciple from thenetwork of disciples of Lord Maitreya, who in the recent 100 years has beengradually externalizing the Plan for thebenefit of the beings who are afflicted byKali and who are seeking the Path toTruth.

The teachings of Lord Maitreya areone of Synthesis, of unity of existence andof Love and Wisdom. Under the directionof Krishna, he inaugurated 5000 years agothe “Path of World Discipleship” in thename of “Bbagavata Marga” and has beenpreparing disciples in the Path, who inturn help the aspirants to enter the pathof Truth.

The work of the Lord is to orient theseekers to Truth and to its pattern of

Page 119: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

119

functioning through Time, in Space, devoid of all isms, but not to discard anddenounce. It is also the work of the WorldTeacher and his followers to uphold theTruth in every system, in every religionand in every ism.

The disciple working in the Path ofthe World Teacher remains simple, ascommon among the common, and yetinspires the surroundings into the Path ofTruth through demonstration of sacrifice, service and love in action. He does notpronounce himself to belong to any orderof hierarchy. He rather prefers to work insilence. Silence, secrecy, service andsacrifice are the four corners of the squarewithin which he works incessantly. Hede-monstrates Yoga in every walk of life,in the domestic and also in the socialcircles. Spirituality remains the

Page 120: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

120

predominant thought-current in thedomestic, vocational and social field ofactivity.

Madame Helena Petrovna Blavatsky,Madame Alice A. Bailey and Dr. E.Krishnamacharya (Master E.K.) are therecent exponents of the work of LordMaitreya, while Master Jesus and the greatInitiate Pythagoras are believed to be theexponents of the same work in the pastcenturies. Today there are about 3000groups all over the world that functionwith the inspiration flowing from theWorld Teacher.

Lord Maitreya is believed andworshipped by some Christians as Christ. He is prayed as “Babaji” of the Himalayasby some others. He is looked at as MaitreeBuddha by some Buddhists. In him the

Page 121: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

121

divine touch of Lord Krishna isexperienced by an order of Hindus. He isgenerally recognized by many in re-centyears as the head of the HimalayanHierarchy, which constitutes the “InnerGovernment” of the World.

The name of the World Teacher isindicative of his divine qualities. Maitrimeans ‘friendship, friendliness, benevolence and goodwill’. Benevolencepersonified is Maitreya. Friendliness isagain indicative of equality, of similarity,of complete understanding and ofcomplete co-operation.

The strength of the World Teacher isin his benevolence and his kind-heartedness. In him the pairs of oppositefunction as complementaries. In him theconflict of duality dissolves to give raiseto harmony.

Page 122: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

122

The World Teacher, Lord Maitreya,is the embodiment of many virtues andhis virtues are sung among groups whoinvoke his presence for the world’swelfare. The return of his presence intothe masses is experienced by many whoare dedicated to goodwill in social actions. His presence is experienced by some asthe return of the Lord as Kalki, by someothers as the return of Christ and yet byothers as the synthesis in their thoughtsand deeds.

The World Teacher Trust is a group ofservers who function with the main ideaof goodwill in the field of healing andteaching. Its groups are spread all overthe planet today. They sing the Song ofLord Maitreya every dawn and dusk topermeate the tranquillity of the Divine

GOOD FRIDAY

Page 134: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

134

THE SUBJECTIVE LIGHT

Good Friday is the most importantday for the ritualists who practise theinner ritual in the secret and sacredtemples. Friday is very important becauseit is the day that opens the doors to us tothe subtle kingdom, which is the kingdomof Light with its rainbow colours.

The pure white ray manifests as theseven rainbow colours. The gross physicalis like the brown Star from where we haveto ascend into the higher states of light, which are represented by the subtle light.Friday stands for the subtle light andhence all (rituals) temples are conductedon Friday evening, so that through theritualistic work, in the night, duringdarkness, the light can be experienced.

Page 135: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

135

Darkness is the subjective light, whilethe daylight is the objective light. Fullmoon is light objective, while new moonis light subjective. Darkness stands forsubjective light and for that reason, Fridayis important.

THE PATH OFSELF SURRENDER

Good Friday is the best of the Fridaysof the year. Good Friday is an annualevent and has also come to be the Fridayon which the Grand Master Jesus passedover into the realms of Light and cameback again to establish the Path with theLight that he received through suchascension. On that Good Friday there isthe ascension and the resurrection. The

Page 136: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

136

grand Master walked the Path of pain onthat Friday at 7 p.m. l.S.T. (3.30 p.m. inJerusalem). He walked the Path till abouttwo and a half hours. Later he wascrucified on the cross in the twilight hours,-an event which is unparalleled in this era. There is no equal to it.

The Path that he followed is the Pathof Grace or Anugraha in Sanskrit SuchAnugraha is possible only if one hassurrendered the self, which is so veryeasily spoken by the Hindus as AtmaSamarpana, ‘Self Surrender’.

Surrender the things relating topersonality is one thing, surrender of thepersonality is another tiling; surrender ofthe self is “The Thing”.

Page 137: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

137

Hence, surrender means sacrifice. Inthe Veda it is called “the all sacrifice”Sarva Utah. All is sacrificed, including ourself, at the feet of the Lord. This is alsocalled Holocaust in Greek and Jewishrituals. The Purusha Suktam of Rig Vedaspeaks elaborately of the Yajha of SarvaUtah, which is seldom demonstrated tothat extent as Jesus, the Christ. It is themost difficult of the paths to follow, i.e.,the Path of Self Surrender, which is alsocalled the Path of Anugraha, the Path ofGrace.

Jesus Christ is the only example, during the last 2000 years of such asacrifice, and there is no equal to it tilldate. He volunteered for such crucifixionand it happened to be on this Friday, which was considered as Good Fridayeven before.

Page 138: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

138

Good Friday existed even before thisevent. It is the Friday in which the annualritual of Pass-over is conducted in thesecret temples. It is in conformity withthe Vedic Astrology. Pass-over is knownto the present humanity as relating onlyto the event of crucifixion and resurrectionof Jesus, but it is as old as the Veda.

THE MOTHER OF GRACE

When Jesus Christ was crucified, theRoman soldiers ensured that he died onthe cross and left. Then came the motherwith a lamp in her hand.

Mother Mary represents the Virginor the Mother of the World. She comes inthe midnight hour with a lamp in onehand and with an ear of corn in the otherhand.

Page 139: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

139

Carrying an ear of corn is also verycommon with the Hindu deities likeMother Meenakshi or Lalitha or any of thatorder. She comes with an ear of corn inher left hand and with a lamp of light inher right hand. She comes to her son andlooks at him. She is the Mother inDarkness, i.e., the Subjective Light relatingto Jesus Christ.

Mary always stood by Jesus in thebackground and helped him to con-ductthe work. The ear of corn represents thespiritual food, while the light representsthe dispeller of darkness. The two puttogether incorporate the Grace of the Lord, the World Mother.

Thus, the Grace of the Lord workedout through the Mother and transmittedthe White Ray to Jesus Christ. As aconsequence, Jesus Christ again got

Page 140: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

140

rejuvenated, “resurrected”, in the seventissues of his body and life reenteredthrough the spiritual food.

The White Ray carries in it therainbow colours of the Seven Rays. Theseven tissues of the body of Jesus werebrought back to (life) light. Such is thepower of the Mother.

Blessed are the ones who follow thePath of the Mother, who stands as thegrace of the Lord.

In the process of crucifixion andresurrection, Jesus Christ ascended intothe cosmic plane relating to our planetand experienced the sublimest of theexperience that one can think of on thisPlanet, and then came back to establishthe Path.

Page 141: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

141

THE YEARLY DRAMA OFTHE RITUAL OF PASS-OVER

Crucifixion, ascension andresurrection is a ritual of the highest order. This ritual was known to the Vedic templeheads, the high priests of the pyramidsand to the grand Masters of the esoterictemples. It was known to many butpractised by none.

World Saviours are born throughsuch rituals, and this ritual is possible onlyon a Good Friday.

The day of Pass-over iscommemorated with the event of JesusChrist ascending into the higher world, but the truth is, even before Jesus Christwas crucified, ascended and experienced

Page 142: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

142

the Truth Sublime, there is the yearlydrama of Pass-over, which is conductedin the Vedic rituals from timesimmemorial. We should remember this.

The ritual of Pass-over existed evenbefore Jesus Christ. It was there inJudaism, in the Assyrian and Chaldeansystems. It existed in the temples of Ibezof South America. It was, and is there inthe Indian Vedic system, and mostlyforgotten by the exoteric religions andtraditions. But in the esoteric religions andtraditions, (in esoteric temples) it is stillconsidered to be the day of the greatestillumination.

Page 143: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

143

THE THIRD DECANATEIN ARIES

Good Friday is the greatest day ofillumination for the simple reason that inthe zodiac of 12 sun signs (one year of 12month), Aries stands for the highest pointof illumination. Aries marks the highestpoint of illumination for the planet andthe planetary beings. It is for this reason,in astrology, the sun is said to be exaltedin Aries.

The third decanate of Aries is thesublimest of the Aries energies, because itstands for spiritual energies. In any solarmonth, the third decanate is consideredspiritual. It is for this reason that even inthe mundane astrology, planets whohappen to be in the third decanate are

Page 144: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

144

considered to be much more effective, much more beneficial. Thus the thirddecanate in Aries, is the sublimest solarperiod of the year.

Pass-over into the higher realms, intohigher planes of this planetary sphere, which is in seven planes, is possibleduring that time. The planet also has itscosmic plane. Thus, initiates can ascendup to the cosmic plane of Existence of theplanet by rightly utilising the energies ofthe third decanate of Aries, which standsfor the highest period of illumination, anda Friday in that decanate is the highestpoint of illumination, full of sublimestsubtle experiences! It happens once in ayear, once on that Friday. Hence it is GoodFriday, it is the day of Pass-over, pass-over to higher planes of Existence.

Page 145: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

145

Rituals are conducted all over theplanet, ever since the Vedic times, toexperience the highest possibleconsciousness which is presented to usthrough the month of Aries. The dramarelating to the pass-over is conducted inthe temples on this Friday ever since.

The month of Aries is a month ofgreatest importance in all old theologies.Exoterically, they were conducting certainrituals of purity and worship, butesoterically in the secret temples, thisFriday is considered to be the day onwhich the ritualists should workout thepass-over into the highest plane ofExistence to experience the cosmic plane, then come back in the month of Taurusand Further come down in the month ofGemini to express, through the Throat

Page 146: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

146

Centre, the Plan for the rest of the ninemonths.

This is how a ritualist is expected totune up to the energies of the solar yearand conduct the Plan relating to the Earthin tune with the higher intelligences. Suchis the work of Pass-over.

We remember Jesus Christ today, because he is the dearest and the nearestone. He is the most recent one that hasvery successfully completed the ritual ofPass-over and hence he shall have to beremembered. The Mother, the Mother ofGrace, has to be remembered as well, because only through her grace the sevenplanes can be ascended. Also rememberthat Light is to be experienced only tocome back and serve the fellow beings.

Page 147: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

147

Such is the beauty of the Good Friday. The dimensions relating to it are too many, they can only be hinted at, at the moment.

Remember Aries, the third decanate,Friday, the Mother of Grace, being theoutposts of the Lord on this Sacred day.

Mary stood crying outside the tomb. While she was still crying, she bent overand looked in the tomb and saw twoangels there dressed in white, sittingwhere the body of Jesus had been, one atthe head and the other at the feet.“Woman, why are you crying?” theyasked her.

She answered, “They have taken myLord away, and I do not know where theyhave put him!”

Then she turned round and saw Jesusstanding there; but she did not know thatit was Jesus. “Woman, why are youcrying?” Jesus asked her. “Who is it thatyou are looking for?”

She thought he was the gardener, so

she said to him, “If you took him away, sir, tell me where you have put him, andI will go and get him.”

Jesus said to her, “Maria!”

She turned towards him and said inHebrew, “Rabboni!” (that is to say, “MyTeacher!”) (John 20,11-16).

There are many Initiates in India whohave demonstrated love with-out desire. In the Occident we have Jesus Christ whodemonstrated it in his life.

If we love we cannot desire; that ispure love. We love a person, be-cause wedesire certain things from the otherperson. We love a place, because we wishto derive something from that place. Welove a thing, because we want to derivesomething from it. We are looking for

Page 151: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

151

fulfilment of our desires in the name oflove.

To an Initiate there is no such thingas loving places, persons and things. Tohim, love does not require a venue. Butto an ordinary man love requires a venue.

To an Initiate there is no such thingas showing love. Showing love is nothingthan showing desire or fulfilling others’desires.

The love of Jesus was complete, inthat he never desired anything from anyof his disciples. He was only loving thembecause they were attracted to his way oflife, which is the wisdom of the Initiates.

The relationship of Jesus with MariaMagdalena was on a soul to soul basis. There can be no other relationship to anInitiate of that order.

When Jesus stepped on the banks ofthe river Jordan, after 18 years ofpreparation, he was a complete man. Inhim there was the full presence of thefeminine aspect. He was androgynous. Hedid not need the presence of any femalearound him. None of his disciples playeda supportive role. He was self-sup-porting.The disciples did not have the status tohelp Jesus. He had come to help them;how could they help him? If one is in astate of receiving help from his disciples,he is no Master. A Master is self-dependant and self-reliant, self-confidentand self-governing. He had come to givea demonstration of wisdom to a few as tohow a complete man should be. Hiscomplete-ness had attracted a few and hegave it out to them. The wisdom hecarried was the way of life.

Page 153: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

153

Among the disciples who receivedthe way of life from him, MariaMagdalena was one of the most prominentdisciples. She had a good transformationin a short cycle of time, because in herthere was alignment. Her actions andthoughts were aligned. She carriedcomplete conviction in what she did. Suchpeople can easily tune up to any conceptwhen focused, because basically they carryalignment with them. They don’t havedeceitfulness in them. There are peoplewho do not attribute to themselvessome-thing which they are not; they aretruthful to themselves. It is that truthwhich helped her to transform veryquickly.

We all know Maria Magdalena as aprostitute. For all objective pur-poses shewas so, but we have no idea of what

Page 154: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

154

alchemy she went through, to be one ofthe grand disciples of Jesus Christ. Shewas the first who was able to see theetheric body of the Master coming out ofthe sepulchre. Unless so much change hashappened to her within, she would nothave been able to see the etheric presenceof the Master. How much work has beendone to turn out an ordinary woman intoa disciple!, - a fallen woman, according tothe society.

Everywhere we find transformationhappening from within. The detail of thetransformation happening from within isnot put out, only the fruits of the labourare given out. The difficulties that are gonethrough are silently endured. We do notsee how a seed transforms into a root andsprouts, we do not see how the floweringhappens, we also do not see how the

Page 155: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

155

flower transforms into a fruit and howthe fruit ripens. We only know the tasteof the fruit when it is offered to us.

Maria Magdalena was so much in herpersonality life. She was acclaimed as oneof the most beautiful women of her timeand she was admired by all. She wasadmired by the political leaders as wellas by the government officials. They wereall loving her and she also believed thatthey were loving her, until she met Jesus.

Her personality was very big. Shewas living in great vanity and great riches;she was wielding much power in thegovernment and in the political circles. Allthe influential people in town were heradmirers. They were feeling that a lookby her was a great favour done to them. She used to move in the streets in a

glorious palanquin. People used to lookat her in great admiration as if the queenwas moving. She used to enjoy suchsituations. She used to shower herblessings by looks. People were feeling:“Ah, she looked at me”. That was thestature she enjoyed.

One day when she was moving inthe streets in gait, she saw Jesus walkingalong with his disciples. Jesus was a veryhandsome man. He was in the vigour ofhis youth in his 30th year. The one greatdamage that people has done to him, is topicturize him as a sad looking man, as ifhe never smiled. Jesus was a smilingbeauty of his time, spreading radiancefrom every part of his body. His foreheaddistinctly carried a golden hue in theshape of a bud, in between the eyebrows.Such a person was walking on the other

side of the street when Maria Magdalenawas moving in her palanquin. All peoplelooked at her with admiration. Jesus didnot. But she looked at him; she felt hurtand thought: “Why this man did not lookat me?”. She was acustomed to peoplelooking at her with admiration. She nowencounters a situation where a man didnot care for her. Naturally she was hurtand she made note of him. That is howJesus made his first impression. The samesituation repeated for a second time andMaria Magdalena gained a still deeperimpression. She asked her maiden if sheknew who was the handsome man whodid not look at her. The maiden madeinquiries and reported that Jesus was akind of a mystical person who teaches thegospel and seemed not to care foranything else. Maria Magdalena was

Page 158: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

recollecting Jesus all the time and wasasking herself if he did not love her or, atleast, like her.

One day Maria Magdalena wasstanding on the balcony of her house, looking around in the evening light.Suddenly she found Jesus seated underthe cypress tree across the garden, nearthe gate. She felt encouraged and startedthinking if he would be coming in or ifshe should go out. She would have likedhim to come in, but he just sat at the gate.Maria Magdalena was in conflict thinking:“has he come for me, or is he just takingrest on his way?”. These thoughts weremoving inside her. She became restless. The man about whom she was thinkingall the time was at her gate, but she wasnot sure if he would come in or not. Hervanity did not allow her to go out and

Page 159: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

159

invite him in. She spoke to her maidenand the maiden replayed: “Why don’t yougo to him and invite him? Instead ofsuffering inside about him, better go andmeet him there”. Maria Magdalenathought for a while and then walked out.As she walked towards Jesus, Jesuswalked towards her and said: “Maria, Ilove you”. She felt happy and comforted. But Jesus did not stop at it, he furthersaid: “Maria, I love you; others do not”.Then she was in confusion and askedhim for an explanation. The Master againsaid: “You have many lovers, and yet Ialone love you. Other men lovethemselves in your nearness. I love youin your self. Other men see a beauty inyou that shall fade away sooner than theirown years. But I see in you a beauty thatshall not fade away. I alone love the

Page 160: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

160

unseen in you. All men love you forthemselves; I love you for yourself. Theywant your body and you think that theyare loving you. If you deny them yourbody, they will hate you and turn againstyou”.

Maria Magdalena could not believeit at first. She thought that they were allher real admirers in all planes. Then shethought to put it to a test. She started notbeing available any more for anybody. Shestopped admitting people into her house.A big government officer came to thehouse and his entrance was denied; hefelt offended. A military officer came; hewas also not admitted; he felt offended aswell. Thus, the government officer feltoffended, the military officer felt offended, the politician felt of-fended, the policeofficer felt offended, the tax officer felt

Page 161: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

161

offended, the businessman felt offended! All the offended men called for a meeting, and because of the insult they hadsuffered, they declared her to be aprostitute. Before that, she was notconsidered so, because all their wisheswere fulfilled. She was treated as a veryimportant person. But now that shedenied her body and emotion to them, they have declared her to be a prostitute! For that purpose they invited a priest andtold him to apply the Law of Moses uponher, which meant to stone her to death inpublic. The judgment was passed!

From a grand personality life, MariaMagdalena was reduced to be a prostituteon the streets. She could no more live inthe big house; she had to move out to thestreets, and the same people who used to

Page 162: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

162

look at her with admiration, started tothrow stones at her.

The day came where she was to bestoned to death. While they wantedto start stoning her, Jesus came andoffered his body as a protection to herand said unto them: “If you are allrighteous men, how did she become aprostitute? How can a woman become aprostitute unless men misbehave? The onewho did not misbehaved with her is onlyeligible to stone her”. The power of thestatement of the Master stunned thepeople who wanted to stone her and theyleft. Once again Jesus told her: “Maria, Ilove you; others do not”. Then, sheunderstood - here is a man who offeredhis life to protect her, while he does notneed her body. There are the others, whowanted to use the law to their advantage

Page 163: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

163

and put her to death when she refused tooffer her body! The naked truth struckher like a thunderbolt.

Transformation triggered in herpersonality thereafter. What is Love wasvery clearly perceived by MariaMagdalena in that terrible crisis. In thatcrisis she found the only source, theMaster.

The strength of the truth that we holdis put to test only in crisis. A crisis is theturning point for everyone to walktowards the light. Crisis are common inthe lives of the disciples. It is through thatcrisis that Maria Magdalena has becomea disciple. The communication betweenher and Jesus was one of soul and no moreon the mental plane. He did not requireto communicate much to her through

Page 164: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

164

mind or voice. Such was the depth ofMaria Magdalena. She could realize thebeauty of the Master and the universalitythat was functioning through him.

Her orientation to the Master was socomplete that it enabled silenttransmission of the soul quality from theMaster to herself. It was a joyful processof magnetization that she went through. The disciple is thus preparered.

She was allowed to be around Jesusall the time, even to the extent that the co-disciples felt jealous about her. The otherdisciples did not carry so much convictionas she carried about the Master. John, theyoungest one of the 12 apostles, on whoseshoulders Jesus was frequently leaning hishead, was the deepest among them. Hecould see the esoteric side of Jesus. To

Page 165: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

165

him, the entire esoteric doctrine wasrevealed in the presence of Jesus. Therewere others who doubted him. Amongthe ones who doubted was none otherthan his own younger brother Thomas. In times of difficulties Peter disowned theMaster. When he was about to be introuble, Peter felt better to disown himthan own him. There was such a varietyamong his disciples.

The one who really showed completeunderstanding was Maria Magdalena. Shewas the one who went first towards thesepulchre. What did the apostle do? Whydidn’t they go to the sepulchre? Only threeladies went! We can see the kind ofbelonging they had. The three ladies wentto the sepulchre, but they did not find thebody of the Master. They weredumbstruck and awe-struck. To them the

Page 166: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

166

situation was such that they could not livewith the fact that the body of their Masterwas missing. It was a fact which theycould not bear. That was the belongingthey had towards the Master. The Masterhad to make haste to utter: “Maria!”, andMaria Magdalena turned towards himand said in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (“MyTeacher!”). “Do not hold on to me”, Jesustold her, “because I have not yet gone backup to the Father. But go to my brothersand tell them that I am returning to himwho is my Father and their Father, myGod and their God. So, Maria Magdalenawent and told the disciples that she hadseen the Lord and related to them whathe had told her”. (John 20, 16-18).

Some got excited with the news andsome were putting it to reasoning: “Is itpossible? Are these ladies emotional?”.

Page 167: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

167

The intellectuals try to sweep away thevisions of the real ones as emotional. Therewere others who doubted. Jesus Christhad to come, give his presence to themand tell them: “I don’t die”.

The concept of resurrection is veryclearly demonstrated in the life of Jesus, and it was so as he walked up to the banksof the river Jordan.

There was nothing that he needed tolearn during the last three years. He hada mission (a plan) and he fulfilled it. Healways remained a big challenge tohumanity and he is frequently confrontingthe human intellect with hisdemonstration of life after death.

The teachings that Jesus gave werecomplete and very simple, but only a fewcould really pick them up in their

Page 168: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

168

complete sense. Maria Magdalena was oneof them. Mary, the mother of Jesus, wasalready an Initiate. There was nothing thatshe needed to learn from her son. Sheknew the whole scheme of things. She wasthe one who was giving a kind of presenceto protect those who were working withJesus. She also had no role to protect Jesus, but she had the role to protect thefollowers of Jesus. That is the reason whythe followers of Christianity seekprotection through Mary. If the followersof Christianity want to get protection, theypray to Mary, the Mother. If the followersof Christianity want to get resurrected, they should follow Jesus.

The relationship between Jesus andMaria Magdalena was one of completeunderstanding between a Master and adisciple. It was a complete alignment

Page 169: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

169

between a Master and a disciple, wherethe disciple is fully anointed with thepresence of the Universal Master. Herstory gives us the message of theappropriateness of crisis in life. Everycrisis makes the person deeper in hisbeing. Spiritual realization cannot happenin fair weather. That does not mean thatwe have to invite unfair weather. Onlythrough crisis we can be driven deepertowards truth.

When we look at the life of theInitiates, like Arjuna or Yudhistira, wefind that they were in deep crisis. Only inperiods of crisis they gained the spirit.Among the disciples of Jesus we onlyknow that Maria Magdalena had such adeep crisis in life. That must have affordeda great opportunity for her to transform. At the point of death initiation can

happen. Arjuna was at not mean that wehave to invite unfair weather. Onlythrough crisis we can be driven deepertowards truth.

That is another dimension which Ivisualize in the life of Maria Magdalena.

Page 171: WISDOM BUDS.pdf

That is how the transformationhappens through the death of personality. This is what happens when we are trulywalking in the path of light. The death ofpersonality for the birth of consciousness.
