WIRING THE WOLF WINDEMULLER Partners in your success windemuller.us CHALLENGE After celebrating a 10-year anniversary milestone this past April, Great Wolf Lodge, Traverse City’s indoor water park and hotel resort, wanted to mark the occasion with an expansion of customer offerings. Windemuller got the contract for the job mid-month, asking for designs and electrical solutions for a trio of new additions. The expansion, which includes a new Dunkin Donuts, a room of kid-friendly bowling lanes dubbed “Ten Paw Alley,” and a brand-new youth spa called Scoops, demanded design-build solutions, complex wiring layouts, and lighting fixture installations, and Windemuller was set to begin work on the first of May. The main hurdle? The lighting fixture design, delivery, and installation process normally takes six to eight weeks. And with Great Wolf Lodge’s bustling summer tourism season just around the corner, not to mention the regular off-season traffic that continued to pack the facility throughout the project, Windemuller had to work hard to expedite the schedule without disrupting day-to-day business operations. SOLUTION With the help of two local contractors—the Spence Brothers, who covered general trade work like carpentry, drywall, and painting, and D&W Mechanical, who provided the new spaces with their plumbing and heating systems—Windemuller went to work. By putting the pedal to the accelerator with all light fixture components, Windemuller did in one month what normally takes up to two, helping to design and wire Great Wolf Lodge’s new facilities and prepare them for an early June opening. By the time the project wrapped on May 31, Windemuller and their partners had helped design and build a bowling alley, a donut shop, and a youthful spa, bedecking each with new lighting set-ups, power outlets, and all other hallmarks of sleek and safe functionality. Bring on the summer crowds: the Great Wolf Lodge, at least, is ready.
