Wireless LAN Series

IntroductionAdvantech Wireless LAN series is a perfect solution for providingconnectivity to your most difficult locations. It allows you to scale yournetwork creatively, without being confined to cable reach. The wirelessconnection also provides ultimate flexibility to reconfigure your networkwithout incurring additional cabling costs.

The WLAN series products are fully compatible with the IEEE 802.11b,high rate wireless LAN standard. They deliver 11 Mbps over-the-air forfaster downloads, easier browsing, quicker file transfers and supportfor more wireless users. Utilizing Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum(DSSS) technology in the 2.4 GHz unlicensed band, mobile users canconnect to the corporate network wherever their work takes them.

The Advantech WLAN series now offers two different categories: adapterand access point.

Wireless LAN AdapterThe wireless adapters plug into the mobile devices and let these devicesconnect to the Internet. By using these adapters, users can createinfrastructures or ad-hoc networks. Advantech provides PCMCIA, PCI,USB and PC/104 interfaces to satisfy your needs.

Wireless LAN Access PointThe wireless access point performs as a transparent bridge betweenwired and the wireless networks. By connecting the access point toyour hub, you can access the Internet via wireless LAN adapter. Fordifferent applications, Advantech provide four types of access points.

The WLAN-9100 is a lean, cost-effective 11 Mbps wireless bridge. Youcan use it to connect many wireless adapters. The WLAN-9300 is apowerful access point with router, bridge and repeater functions. Itperforms as a wireless router to connect the network from building tobuilding. The WLAN-9450 is a 2 Mbps access point with repeater,station adapter and micro access point functions. It can extend thetransmission distance automatically. In addition, it performs as anadapter.

Keep Your Communications PrivateThe WLAN series guards your wireless network from being tapped bymultiple security protection. (WEP40 encryption, MAC access controland password security). By using WEP40 encryption, you can select aWEP key to secure your data from being viewed by an unauthorizedwireless user. Only the access point and wireless adapter have the sameWEP key. MAC access control allows you to have a list to controlaccessibility to any wireless adapter. The multiple security mechanismswork to prevent unauthorized access to both wired and wireless networkresources.

IntroductionThe WLAN-9100 performs as a fast and cost-effective bridge betweenwired and wireless local area network. It provides users with theadvantage of easy-to-extend networking and mobility. Fully compliantwith the IEEE 802.11(b), 11Mbps Wireless LAN standard, the WLAN-9100 features many powerful functions such as: high-security WEP40protection, self-diagnostic configuration utility, Web management, SNMPand more. Thus, the WLAN-9100 sespecially suitable for difficult-to-wire environments and mobile workers.

Placed anywhere along an Ethernet LAN, the WLAN-9100 allows wirelessstations to transparently access the corporate network. The numerouswireless LAN devices can connect to one WLAN-9100 without limitation.By detecting WLAN-9100 automatically, wireless LAN devices can roamdifferent areas as long as they are the same settings. In addition, theWLAN-9100 also provides WEP40 standard and MAC Access Controlto protect transmission security. This makes it suitable for high-securitynetworking. We also provide four convenient methods to configure theWLAN-9100: Web management, telnet, configuration utility, RS-232.You can configure it remotely via Internet.
