Parking SpaceParking Space

Problem definition: Today, due to increasing number of vehicles, we

face parking challenges at most of the locations for most of the time.

We invest unexpected time and effort in searching for a parking space before we enter a mall, theatre, hotel or other likes.

So, this prompted me to think of an idea that will help us to locate a parking space, thus saving precious time and unnecessary effort.

MY IDEA MY IDEA

It’s a simple method of transmitting signals to a random receiver which then traces the origin of the signal.

A simple pressure switch is inserted beneath the parking space which is connected to a signal transmitting device within a short radius. This signal is then received by a cell phone or GPS, which traces the signal to find an available vacant space.

AdvantagesAdvantages

1. Time saver: This system saves time for vehicle owner.

2. Effort Saver: It saves effort of logistic team.

3. ROI: It’s one time investment, but saves money in long run as salaries of parking logistics team.

4. Automation: Its self driven

5. Security: If the device is modified to send the signals to the cell phones, it can be used to avoid vehicle thefts too.

DisadvantagesDisadvantages

1. Compatibility: The receiver (device inside the vehicle) needs to have a compatible software.

2. Cost: It is costly initially but has an ROI.3. Dependencies: Electricity failure might cause a panic, but

UPS can avoid that as a backup.4. Risks: Need to check validity in rains and floods.

Summary Summary

Provoking insights for my work area ?

1.

System can be improved after an initial pilot.

Customer feedback can be takjen for improvements

2We can measure the savings in the pilot period

We can minimize the risk after the pilot study

3Others?? Still thinking….
