overlapping rubber orpoly- urethane padsthat wrap around thepipe; contact pressurebetween the pads andthe drill string ismaintained at any pre-

set level by air-

actuated cylinders.This variable pressurefeature allows large-diameter tools ordrilling equipment to

be pulled through thepads and wiped cleanwithout causingexcess wear orpermanent damage tothe wiper pads.

Automatic Hole Cover

The Control system can help prevent unnecessary fishing jobs by serving as a hole cover. Its wiping padsautomatically overlap when the drill pipe or tubing is pulled from the hole, effectively stopping any foreignobjects from falling into the wellbore. Special units for sucker rod service are available.

Faster, More Efficient Rig Time

Since the Control system adjusts to the various diameters of drill stem components, crews can makecomplete trips without having to remove the rotary table bushings to pull the pipe wipers. This featureprovides significant savings in rig time.

conserves drillingfluids by effectivelywiping all parts of the

drill stem whentripping out of thehole and providing alarge catch basinbeneath the rotary

table. The fluids arereturned directly tothe annulus or to themud pits through theflow line. Its wipingaction is cost-effective, too; whilemost drill pipe wipers

must be discardedafter only 1/4" inch or1/2" inch of rubberhas worn away, theControl pads canwithstand up to 3" of wear before they must

be replaced.

Increased Safety On The RigFloor

In addition to eliminating thepersonnel hazards associated withremoving and returning rotarybushings, the Control prevents drilling

fluids from spilling on the rig floor, theblowout preventer stack or the rigsubstructure and creating slippery

footing in those areas.

Easy Installation

The Control system can be attached tothe top of the drilling nipple or the BOPstack or mounted on a track beneaththe rotary table for roll-on, roll-off service. All operations are controlledfrom a console mounted near the

driller's panel.

The method of wiping fluid from drillstem and production strings hadchanged very little since the beginning

of rotary drilling - until the introductionof the Control system. Countless hourswere spent wrestling with bulky rotarybushings or fighting the mess left fromdrilling fluids spilled on the rig. Simply

stated, the conventional drill pipewiper is not  the most effective way torecover drilling fluids and keep the rigfloor clean and safe.

The Control system solves all those

problems and more by providing thefollowing advantages:
