Safety first for the Tainui TeamTainui Group Holdings’ rural operations manager, Ian Mathieson couldn’t be happier with his organisation’s recent review of on-farm transport which saw his fleet of quad bikes replaced with Kioti Mechrons.The group has a vast business portfolio ranging from Hotels to Healthcare, and it’s agricultural interests include 6 farms in the central North Island. Ian’s team have six Kioti Mechrons in their fleet, including a 6 seater used for the increasing number of visitor related events on TGH’s properties.

Ian says the benefits of replacing their quad bikes with UTVs are huge. Safety is paramount, and with the Kioti Mechron’s substantial ROPS frame, better weather protection, seatbelts, and no need for safety helmets, he and his team are thrilled with the new fleet.

A South Canterbury farmer has broken a 25-year-old world record for the World’s largest yielding barley crop after his attempt was recently recognised by Guinness World Record authorities.After growing barley for more than 30 years, Timaru growers, Warren and Joy Darling were inspired to set a record at their Poplar Grove farm this season and succeeded on January 23 with a yield of 13.8 tonnes a hectare, destroying the previous record of 12.2 tonnes per square hectare set 25 years ago.

Power Farming Manawatu dealer principal, Stephen Alford has also rebuilt a 1978 DX140 Powermatic, and had it punching well above its weight to take out the CD Fieldays tractor pull competition (pre ’85 tractors) earlier this year.
