Prophecy FuUllled.

May we not feel a little elated at th" fulfill-111811t of,. prophecy, mad~ some three yeal'II since tn a day dream, indulged on the top or crownbrr Sugar Loaf? The •'wish waa cntainly fatlterto the thought," but we bad every faith in the speedy 11ccompli1hment or the desi!rn wbirh wa, then but faintly entPrtained,-the building of a Trllnsit, western Rail Road, through the (ertlle region, which apread out in prirftitive Jovelio\ss and beauty I far, (.a.r towards tbe ,ettln,t sun. . The •• .,islon of 1860," l1 now reduce,! to a

We feel a justifiable pride in ~onirratulating the citizens of our town, and the dwellPrs In o,ir beautiful interior at the happ)' res,1lt of the toils, anxieties and expenditures of the f·w, who have labored so energotically to advance the highest intere1ts t>f the many.

Not by inactivity and pleasure-trip• were these great end1 g~ined, but by Jays and nights of anxions thon?hl and stern, ··e,el11te perseveraace. They will have their ri:h rewards in the contemplation, in three or ro11r yeara, :or a pop11-lo•1S StatP, filled with a happy, thriving peoplP, and whose eastern and western shores are wa,hed by the hvo Queen RiHrs of the world.
