SPREADS (2 x 2)
The Double Slot can very easily be converted to a 2 X 2 SPREAD formation by just widening the slot RB, providing you with even more versatility in pass game formations.

L R
L R
OTHER 2 X 2 looks
OTHER LOOKS
Another asset of the multiple looks is if one of your backs is a significantly better receiver than the other you can manipulate you formation calls by using motion in place of Base alignments.
--R is the better receiver--motion him to WR position when his natural alignment doesn’t call for it.
L
R
Motion to TWINS instead of just aligning in it
The final option that is very easily adopted is the ability to use the shot gun aspect of the modern passing game will any and all of these multiple formations

ADDITIONAL PASS
GAME LOOKS
On the following pages are additional diagrams describing potential pass routes by specific formations and other points that may be helpful with the information in this series.
PASS GAME examples (pro)
SLANT (3 step)
OUTS (3 step)
6 5

Two additional points: 1--Since there are a variety of blocking schemes to use for these examples--we will not talk blocking schemes. 2--Coaches teach their pass reads differently as well so we also avoid talking specific QB reads.

examples (pro) 2
CURL (5 step)
SHALLOW flare (5 step) MOFO MOFC

5
With our blocking schemes we make RB responsible for ILB, Which means by adding a TAG word (influence, flare, flat) it tells our RB if ILB doesn’t stunt to run the tag route called.
examples (pro) 3
DIG influence (7 step)
Y CHOICE influence/flat (5 step)
MOFO
MOFC
15 10
7
10
5
Because of the length of time to run the DIG it is one of the few plays we use a 7 step drop. CHOICE route has used influence or flat tags depending on the defensive scheme.
PASS GAME examples (twins)
HITCH solid (3 step)
BUBBLE (3 step) FS
#1 #2
6
HITCH routes--the outside WR attacks DB outside shoulder & the # 2 WR attacks an area to challenge flat defender BUBBLE route the SE will lock on the most dangerous DB either the widest #1 or #2. This is a play the receiver has to make a tackler miss many times.
GOOD VS. COVER 3/MAN
GOOD VS. MAN or loose CB
examples (twins) 2
WHEEL (5 step)
HOOKS solid [te blocks] (5 step)
10+
The 10+ or distance of the HOOK routes will be determined by the opponents scheme, personnel and the WR abilities. WR drives for outside shoulder of defender plant outside foot & drive back hard to the QB For us the WHEEL is usually a predetermined route but we will Read the FS (middle of field)
GOOD VS. COVER 3/MAN
examples (twins) 3
STORM solid (5 step-overloads)
FLOOD solid (5 step-overloads)
13
13

SOLID tag means the TE is staying in to block. We can also send Both RB to same side (opposite solid) to handle * man front OLB. Vertical stretch routes we usually look high to low. Whenever We run a single back in the route as well as keep the TE solid The other RB must replace the back in pattern for blocking assignment
GOOD VS. COVER3/2 (man with flat route)
GOOD VS. COVER 2/3/MAN
examples (twins) 4
BENCH (sprint out)
COMEBACK (sprint out) 16
13
Front EZ flag 13
13 13
When we sprint out we always make the RB or backs responsible for EMOL and scraping LB. COMEBACK route is another route where we may adjust the distance of the route (again based on defensive scheme or speed of WR.

GOOD VS. COVER 2/3/MAN
PASS GAME examples (pro/slot)
HITCH-solid (3 step)
SLANT (5 step-overloads)
6
5
6
In single back formations with a TE we will always send RB opposite of TE. Usually we solid call these but if we send TE out we have a partial hot release route by somebody on his side.
examples (pro/slot) 2
DOUBLE CROSS (5 step)
FLIES (5 step)
4 6
Most times when we use a spread (2 x 2) look we will use all 4 receivers and use the 1 RB as safety valve and flare him. DOUBLE CROSS route the left (L) side receiver always runs the lower route.
GOOD VS. MAN
examples (pro/slot) 3
INS--solid (5 step)
SWING crack (5 step)
#2 #1
5
FS
SWING the RB must get depth and QB must use fast drop. We arc release inner most receiver (RB) to block widest DB & WR cracks on #2.

SLANT BUBBLE--solid (3 step)
DUPE solid (3 step)

X HOOKS solid (5 step)
CURL solid (5 step)
5
13
10+
5
With our TRIPS look we often use the slot as a check route. Especially if we are running curls/hooks etc…He aims for a point over the OG at about 5 yard (this is to prevent the LB from getting width and is also a safety valve vs. stunts. Crossing the HOOKS route just gives you different angles and a different look for the secondary/LB to cover
GOOD VS. COVER 3/MAN
examples (trips) 3
UNDER--solid (5 step-overload)
STICK—solid (5 step overload)
6 5

5 5
Horizontal stretch zone routes in which were are trying to create a gap between flat and curl defender. #3 receiver in STICK route will work inside out always trying to keep ILB on his back hip.

READ (sprint out)
HOOKS (sprint out)
10+
10 13
READ is a route where the #2 receiver reads the outside third Of the field. --If the outer third is open he runs an up route --If the outer third has a man in it he breaks off at 10 yards (when in doubt break off into comeback)
OPEN

PASS GAME examples (te trips)

WHIP solid (3 step)
WHIP route is a shorter slant with a pivot turn back to the outside route. QB must pump fake to sell the slant. More times then not we will run a backside slant (1 WR side)

SUMMARY
Obviously there are many additional options that can be used within the framework of the Wing T offensive system. I hope that this broad analysis can assist in making our football programs better and more productive. Please feel free to contact fastandfuriousfootball.com If you have any questions for me. I am sure they will provide you with any information that will be needed. Best of luck to you and keep plugging away! Rick Jones
