Fine Wines

Chateau Pavie Decesse Grand Cru Classe Saint Emilion 2005 Pavie Decesse, a much smaller vineyard (9 acres) than Pavie, produces just over 400 cases of wine. This exhibits more espresso, chocolate, and caramelized Merlot-like

flavors, and reveals a certain freshness and precision because of its exquisite limestone-based terroir. A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the blockbuster 2005

Pavie Decesse boasts an inky/purple colour as well as a gorgeous nose of crushed rocks, acacia flowers, blackberries, blueberries, and a super-concentrated cranberry-like note.

Its well-integrated toasty oak component is more noticeable than in the Pavie. Exceptionally concentrated, powerful, and long,

£280.00

Chateau Leoville Barton 2eme Cru Classe St Julien 1990 The exceptionally concentrated1990 reveals more polished, sweeter tannins along with a big, sweet kiss of black currant, forest floor, cedar and spice box notes. While it still has some tannins to shed, this full—bodied, powerful, long wine is

approachable. Drinking superbly now.

£320.00

Chateau Leoville Lascases Saint Julien 2eme Cru Classe 1996

This wine posses an opaque colour, and an attention-getting, staggering, sweet nose that offers the essence of blackcurrant fruit, kirsch and minerals as well as the essence of Leoville-Las-Cases’s personality. It is fabulously concentrated, with the sur-maturite (over-ripeness) of Cabernet Sauvignon, one of the wine’s most undeniable hallmarks. When measured, the tannic level is extremely high, but you would never know that when tasting this wine because of the massive amount of unbridles power and complexity,

this wine has beaucoup de finesse, as well as a finish that lasts close to 45 seconds.

£380.00

Ch Ducru-Beaucaillou 2eme Cru Classe St-Julien 2003 The wines of Ducru are the essence of elegance, symmetry, balance and distinction, with a stunning harmony of fruit and power. 1997 is a classy

complex bouquet of lead pencil, mineral, earth, cassis and flowers. It is evolved and elegant with good tannin, moderate weight,

excellent depth, purity and symmetry.

£250.00

Ch Rauzan-Segla 2eme Cru Classe Margaux 1989 Rauzan-Segla can trace it’s history to 1661. The 1989 is an outstanding effort—the nose of black fruits intermixed with Provencal herbs, liquorice,

with hints of blueberry id followed by a wine with roasted ripeness, silky tannin and a long finish, drinking superbly now.

£340.00

Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux 2005 Margaux’s second wine gets better with each vintage. The 2005 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux (200,000 bottles produced) is an equal part blend of Merlot

and Cabernet Sauvignon with a hefty alcohol content. Fleshy, opulent, and nearly decadent, with terrific fruit, a creamy texture, and supple tannin.

£360.00

Chateau Lafite Rothschild 1er Cru Classe Pauillac 2007 A candidate for the wine of the vintage, the 2007 Lafite Rothschild (84% Cabernet

Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot) reveals classic Lafite aromas of graphite, unsmoked cigar tobacco, black currants, cherries, and a hint of truffles. The complex aromatics are followed by a round, medium to full-bodied wine with silky tannins, an overall subtle smoky component, and a rich, round, generous, plump finish. Already evolved and delicious, it should continue to drink well for two decades. Robert Parker,

Wine Advocate # 188 Drink 2010-2030
