CANDICE COATES
Ms. Candice Coates resides in Dutchess County, New York and has been playing the harp publicly since
1993. She performs an assortment of music in the Renaissance and Celtic formats. She has performed in a
great variety of venues, ranging from Irish pubs, bookstores, and small concert halls as well as outdoor per-
formances at Renaissance Fairs. Candice has found that performing in Renaissance garb from the Four-
teenth Century adds significantly to the impact of her educational performances. She has researched the
clothing worn in Old World Europe and uses authentic reproductions of clothing from this time period.

BROADWAY CONCERT ON BANNERMAN ISLAND
MAN of La MANCHA August 8th and 9th Departs Beacon at 3:00 p.m. and 4:15. p.m.
Written by Dale Wasserman
Music by Mitch Leigh — Lyrics by Joe Darion
Directed by Joyce A. Presutti
Join Newburgh’s premier theatrical company for the third year, as they perform
another legendary Broadway musical in concert with the ruins of Bannerman Castle as
their backdrop.
MAN OF LA MANCHA is a remarkable show and one of the great theatre successes of
our time. This is a play-within-a-play, based on Cervantes’ ‘Don Quixote’. We have a
poignant story of a dying old man whose impossible dream takes over his mind. Music
includes ‘It’s All the Same’, ‘Dulcinea’, ‘I’m Only Thinking of Him’, ‘The Impossible
Dream’, ‘I Really Like Him’ and ‘Little Bird’ which will remain in your thoughts and in
your soul well after you see the show. His dream is every man’s dream. His tilting at
windmills is every man’s great adventure. Somehow, the footlights disappear, time is
telescoped and the ‘Man of La Mancha” speaks for humankind.
Presented in cooperation by Tams Whitmark Music Library
