A DYNAMIC EDUCATION. A NURTURING COMMUNITY.Windward was founded by educator Shirley Windward in 1971 asa coeducational, non-profit, independent college preparatory dayschool enrolling students in grades 7 through 12. The school’s missionstatement encourages students to become responsible, caring, wellinformed, ethical and prepared citizens of the world. Located inWest Los Angeles, Windward draws its student body from the diversepopulation of Los Angeles. Admission is highly selective, with theschool attracting motivated and talented students in academics, theperforming and visual arts and athletics. Windward is accredited bythe Western Association for Schools and Colleges and is a memberof the Global Online Academy, the Cum Laude Society, the NationalAssociation of Independent Schools, the College Board, the NationalAssociation for College Admission Counseling and the WesternAssociation for College Admission Counseling.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTSUpper School students must completea minimum of:

• 4 years of English• 3 years of social studies, including

U.S. history and world history• 3 years of mathematics, including

algebra 2/trigonometry• 3 years of science, including physics,

chemistry, and biology• 3 years of the same world language

or 2 years each of two worldlanguages

• 2 years of visual or performing arts • 2 years of physical education • 20 hours of community service
