SBS 2003 R2 is an update release to the award-winning SBS 2003 product, providing new features to address the growing needs of small businesses:

The “green check” of software health indicates that your computers running Microsoft software are up-to-date – or the daily report details actions necessary for attaining “green check” status.

Automated, network-wide patch and update management for all Microsoft Update supported products lowers the costs of managing a Microsoft-based network and helps you to maintain a more secure infrastructure.

Increased mailbox size limits from 16 GB to 75 GB improvese-mail productivity.

Inclusion of SQL Server™ 2005 Workgroup Edition provides a powerful, integrated data management and reporting solution to support the largest selection of business applications (Premium Edition only).

Expanded client access license (CAL) rights entitle you to access additional Exchange Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005 Workgroup servers in the SBS 2003 R2 network.

Expanded CAL Rights with SBS 2003 R2

SBS 2003 Additional servers can be

added to the SBS 2003 network.

The SBS 2003 CAL entitles users or devices to access data on additional Windows Servers in the SBS 2003 network.

The SBS 2003 CAL does not entitle users or devices to access data on additional Exchange or SQL Servers in the SBS 2003 network.

SBS 2003 R2 SBS 2003 R2 customers

(Standard or Premium) will gain expanded SBS 2003 CAL rights, entitling them to access additional Exchange 2003 and SQL 2005 Workgroup Edition servers in the SBS 2003 R2 network.

Customers will still need to purchase the server licenses for Exchange 2003 and SQL 2005 Workgroup.

Customers will not be required to purchase new SBS CALs.

These expanded CAL rights apply only to Exchange 2003 and SQL 2005 Workgroup servers joined to the SBS 2003 R2 network.

SBS 2003 R2 Availability

Release-to-Manufacturing: SBS 2003 R2* is scheduled to release-to-manufacturing (RTM) in Q2 2006.

General Availability: SBS 2003 R2* will be available six to eight weeks following RTM, depending on the channel.

Obtaining SBS 2003 R2: See the next slide for options in obtaining SBS 2003 R2. The purchase of new client access licenses (CALs) will not be required for existing SBS 2003 customers.
